I don't like old man

Gemma opens her apartment door and walked in. She lays on the couch and opens back her phone.

She was at a conference meeting the whole morning and after that, she took a five-hour flight back home. During this time she didn't have a minute to rest.

Gemma's phone opens and has two missed calls from her boss aka her sister. Her sister Adian Su is the CEO of WISH Hotel. WISH Hotel is their family business and ever since their parents passed away, her oldest sister has taken over the business.

Her second oldest sister, Eda Su was supposed to go to this conference meeting today. But something came up, so they told her to go.

Gemma swears that she hates doing business the most.

She presses Adian's number and calls.

"Hello!" Adian's voice came through, but she was busy signing the contract in front of her so she didn't say anything else.

Gemma knows that she's a busy woman. So she didn't waste any time.

"I came back from the meeting. The contract I've already sent to your email. If there's nothing else, I'll go to sleep," Gemma reports to her sister and as she was about to end the call, Adian stops her.

"Don't forget to come over at 6 for dinner," Adian reminds Gemma.

Every Friday there's always this family dinner. No matter where they are or how busy, none of them are allowed to miss the dinner.

"Ok. I'm so tired and need to sleep!" Gemma whines and ends the call.

Adian looks at her phone and smiles.

Gemma doesn't know how long she has fallen asleep. By the time she wakes up, the outside is dark already. She slowly got up from the couch and looks at her phone.

4:30 pm.

She then walks into the bathroom to get ready for dinner.

Gemma doesn't know how to drive, so she decided to go take the train.

During this hour, the trains are pretty crowded and packed because of rush hour. From where Gemma lives to the WISH Hotel, it'll take her approximately an hour to get there by train.

Gemma stood by the train door as she has her headphones on listening to her music.

There were a total of nine stops, and soon the train came to the fifth stop. Many people got off the train and Gemma sat down near the entrance.

A man came in and sat next to her. Gemma takes a peek at the man and notices that other seats are empty. She scoots over a little and took one glance at the man before minding her own business.

The car door opens and two men walked in.

They walk around as it seems like they're looking for someone. Gemma then looks at the man next to her and saw him holding a pocket knife in his left hand.

Gemma looks up at the two men and realizes that they must be looking for him. As Gemma was about to get up, the man pulled her down and puts the knife behind her back.

"Don't make a sound!" he said as he threatens her.

But what the guy didn't know next was Gemma used her defense moves and got the man down on the floor.

" Tian Kai!"

Gemma holds on to the man and looks at those two men.

"We're the police!" they show her their badge and Gemma got up and hands them their guy.

"Thank you." The younger police said and hand-cuffed the man.

Sean Qin observed Gemma and smiled. "Thank you for helping us catch him. Are you hurt?" he asks her.

Gemma shakes her head. "I didn't do much. I was just protecting myself."

Sean Qin didn't say much and just nods. At the next stop, both police got off with the man in handcuff.

Not long after, the train arrived at Gemma's stop. She got out of the station and walked over to the WISH Hotel.

She went up to the top floor where her sister's room is. The top floor of the hotel is the penthouse. Since her sister usually works late, this became her second home.

When she got in, both of her sisters are already inside. Adian is cooking while Eda is helping her. Even though Adian is the CEO, she has great cooking skills. Eda is the CFO and so she also lives here with her sister. But Gemma doesn't like living in the hotel, and since she doesn't like to live in the big house by herself, she decided to move out herself.

"Why so late?" her sister Adian asks.

Gemma looks at the clock on the wall. It's 5:50 pm.

Usually, Gemma would arrive before 5:30 pm to help out also. "The train was packed and something happened along the way." Gemma sits down at the dining table and pours herself a cup of water.

Eda walks out and sets the table. She looks at Gemma and then notices blood on her hand.

"What happened? Why is your hand bleeding?" she quickly walks up to her and holds her hand.

Hearing that Gemma got hurt, Adian stops what she's doing and walks out to see.

"It's nothing. Just a small cut," Gemma said like it's not big of a deal.

She didn't realize that she got hurt before when getting that man down on the train.

Both Adian and Eda look at her and Gemma knows that they are mad. Mad because she's not taking good care of herself.

Eda went to get the first aid box and Adian went back to her cooking.

As Eda cleans the wound for her, Gemma hisses from the alcohol sting.

"You deserve it, who told you to be a hero?"

Gemma looks at her sister, "it's not like I have a choice. That time the knife was behind my back" before she can finish saying, she regrets it.

"What?! The knife was behind your back?" This time Adian stops cooking and closed the fire. They made Gemma stand up and check everywhere to see if there were other places where she got hurt.

"You guys don't need to worry. Even though I might not look strong on the outside, you guys should know that I learned some defense moves before. I can protect myself and even you guys too." Gemma said with a smile and laughs a little, as she tries to warm up the mood in the room.

Eda slightly hits her head. "If this happens again, you'll have to write the house rules hundred times!"

Gemma gives her an 'are you serious?' face.

When they were kids, every time they get into trouble, their father would always make them write the house rules. It became a thing in the family even when their parents aren't here anymore.

"Ok, I understand. I'm so hungry already. When can we eat?" She said with some childish whining.

Adian looks at her and sighs. "Almost done." She went back to the kitchen and finish frying the last dish.

Finally, all three sat down at the dining table and starts eating.

"So, how's work going?" Adian asks Gemma.

Gemma is 23 and is a piano teacher that teaches little kids.

"Going well. The kids behave and I like teaching them."

Eda then takes out a business card and gives it to Gemma.

"What is this?" she asks her sister while reading the card.

"This is one of the clients that live in the hotel. She has a son that's six years old and needs help tutoring with the piano. I want to see if you're free to help out. If not I can go find other people."

Gemma looks at the card, "They're from here?"

Usually, people who decide to stay at a hotel usually don't stay long or aren't from here.

Eda nods. "Right now their house is under renovation, so they'll be staying at the hotel for two months. So, Gemma are you free to help tutor?"

Adian places a peeled shrimp on Gemma's plate and looks at her. "We're not forcing you to do anything."

They know that Gemma doesn't like them deciding her path.

"Of course. When can we start?" Gemma asks with excitement.

"I know that her son has school on the weekdays. How about this weekend? You come and you can talk about it with his mom?"

Gemma agrees.

After dinner is over, Gemma took the train and went back home. As she was opening the keypad to the door of her apartment, the elevator opens.

Gemma cautiously turned around and saw the same police that she saw earlier.

Sean Qin remembers her, but Gemma didn't remember that her next-door neighbor is him.

"You're the new neighbor that moved in?" Gemma asks him.

Sean nods. "Can't believe we get to see each other again. I forgot to ask before. How's your hand?" Right before he left the train, he noticed the blood on his hand. But before he can say anything, she didn't seem to realize and sat back down.

Gemma looks down at her hand. "It's nothing. Just a small cut."

Both of them looks at each other and didn't say a word.

"Well, good night," Gemma said and then pushes the door open.

"Good Night." He watches her as she closes the door from behind.

Soon the weekend came.

Gemma changed and gets ready for her first class. She takes the train to the hotel and saw her sister Eda waiting for her at the front desk.

"Your hand got better?" Eda asks her.

"It's all better," as she shows her hand for Eda to see.

Eda smiles and nods. "Let's go up now," she said and they reaches the 25th floor of the hotel.

They got outside room 2503 and Eda rings the bell.

The door opens and a young boy looks at them. "Who are you looking for?"

Gemma looks at her as her heart warms up. She loves teaching kids because they're so cute and a little naughty.

The little boy's voice makes Gemma want to go up and gives him a peck on the cheek. But she held it in.

"Where's Miss. Qin? I'm the CFO of the hotel and this is my sister, Gemma." Eda introduces herself to the little boy at the door.

"My mom received a phone call and went to work. Is she my piano teacher?" The little boy asks while looking up and down at Gemma.

Gemma looks at him too and smirks.

"Hi my name is Gemma!" she held out her hand in front of him and waits for him to introduce himself.

The little boy looks at her and hesitates at first but takes her hand.

"Jaxon Qin," and let go of her hand.

"Well, Jaxon. Want to go play the piano?"

"Can we play the one downstairs?" Jaxon asks. On the first day, he came to this hotel, he found the piano in the lobby so pretty.

Eda looks at Gemma. There was a slight emotional change on her face but she quickly hid it.

"Of course. Where's the key?" Gemma asks Eda.

The piano in the lobby was brought by their father and mother. It was a gift to Gemma when she was a kid. But ever since their parents passed away from the accident, she has never played that piano and even told them to not touch it. So, they put up a border fence around the piano.

"Are you sure?" Eda asks Gemma with a worried face.

Gemma smiles and nods. Eda then gives her the key and all three of them went down to the lobby of the Hotel.

Gemma holds onto Jaxon's hand and walks toward the piano. She unlocks it and both walked to the piano. Gemma touches the piano and it's how it was left. Even though she didn't allow anyone to play it, Adian would order people to clean the piano from time to time. So there isn't any dust on it.

"Are there any pieces that you want to play?" Gemma asks Jaxon.

Jaxon who's sitting next to him on the piano bench thought for a moment.

"Let's play the <<Pachelbel's Canon>>," Jaxon said looking at Gemma.

"Can't believe that Jaxon knows how to play that. Alright, let's play that one then." Gemma lifts the piano lid and looks at little Jaxon.

"Ready?" she asks him.

Jaxon nods.

Soon, the lobby is filled with the piano sound. Some people stopped what they were doing and all walked up to listen.

Eda told Adian what happened and Adian paused the meeting and went down to the lobby too.

Standing not too far away, Sean stood in between the crowd as he listen to both of them playing the piano. He was at work when he got a phone call from his sister that Jaxon needs him to look after. But when he came here, this is what he saw.

Soon, both of them stopped and both Gemma and Jaxon looks at each other with a smile.

"Can't believe you this little, but can play this piece of music this good," Gemma compliment him.

Jaxon gives proudly smiles, "of course. Your piano skills aren't that bad too." He said and return a compliment back to her.

"Can I call you Gemma?" Jaxon asks her.

Gemma nods, "of course."

Jaxon happily smiles. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Jaxon asks her carefully.

Gemma looks at him and then laughs. "Why? Are you trying to chase after me? You're too young for me," Gemma said teasingly.

Jaxon looks at her and shakes his head. "It's not for me. I want to introduce my uncle to you," he said to her.

Gemma tilts her head and looks at him again. "You're not serious right? How old is your uncle?" She asks him while playing with his curly hair.

"33," Jaxon said with hope. He really wants Gemma to be his aunt if it's possible, so they can continue playing together. After playing the piano together, Jaxon is starting to like her and wishes they can continue playing the piano together.

Gemma pretends to think and then stares into his eyes. "I don't like old man," she said to him.

Jaxon sighs and starts to blame his uncle for being old.

At first, when Sean hears his nephew setting him up for a blind date, he was about to go up. But after hearing her calling him an 'old man', his face darkens. 'Is he that old?' he wonders to himself.

"Jaxon!" He calls out to his nephew.

Jaxon jumps a little and saw his uncle staring at them. Gemma also turns around and noticed who Jaxon's uncle is.

"Don't tell me that this is your uncle?" Gemma said in a whisper.

Jaxon nods.

Gemma wish that whatever she just said before he didn't hear a bit.
