Paul's nature

It has been about twenty-eight hours since the survival round of the Grava Academy tournament started, and in the city area, Paul has interrupted Waynes and Marfumi's encounter. Paul slowly walks to Wayne's side.

"What's up, Paul? I didn't think I would be seeing you here."

"I didn't expect to see you here either."

Marfumi quickly interjects into their conversation.

"Well, if it isn't the great Paul! The so-called level one demon. You're just the right opponent for me to fight."

"So you want to fight me?"

"Of course I do! I'm Marfumi, the number three of class two!"

"Oh, class two, then you might be a challenge. I will fight you."

As the two of them speak, Wayne starts looking around.

"Are these two really about to fight right now? This is definitely not my place; I need to get out of here."

Wayne starts to skate away from between the two. Marfumi sees this and smiles.

"Where do you think you're going, you damn level zero?"

Marfumi takes a step, and Paul instantly appears in front of him.

"What!"

"Leave my classmate out of this. We will fight."

"Wait, you're joking, right? That pathetic level zero is your classmate."

"Please refrain from talking about my classmate in such ways."

"Damn it, that little rat got away! Fine, I guess we will be fighting now!"

From a tall building far away from Paul and Marfumi, a white-skinned boy is watching them. The boy is 5'6 with black hair. He is wearing a black T-shirt with brown cargo shorts.

"Let's see what you can do, Paul. Losing to this would be a big disappointment."

Paul and Marfumi are standing face-to-face with each other. It seems like both of them are waiting for each other to throw out an attack. As they stare each other down, Marfumi starts to think to himself.

"That blank stare he's giving me. I can tell what he's doing; he's trying to assess my range of ability. That's smart It's too bad you won't be able to even see it coming."

Marfumi lifts his arm and hits Paul so fast that it's not even visible. Paul gets sent back by the punch. Paul uses his feet to slow himself down.

"The speed of his punch."

Marfumi starts to glow yellow. He then vanishes and reappears in front of Paul.

"What's wrong, Paul? You can't keep up with the speed of light!"

Marfumi kicks Paul in the face and then kicks him into the sky.

"I see, so you can move at the speed of light."

Marfumi appears behind Paul in mid-air with multiple balls of light in his hand.

"Eat light, Paul!"

Marfumi shoots multiple beams of light at Paul. Paul uses the flex technique all over his body.

"That technique won't help you here!"

The beams of light hit Paul but can't pierce through his skin because of his flex technique.

Paul gets blasted onto the top of a tall building. Paul uses the flex technique on his back so he can recover faster from Marfumi's attack.

"I told you that technique won't help you here!"

Marfumi creates a whip-out of light and smacks Paul with it. The whip cuts the building in half while, at the same time, sending Paul to the bottom of it.

"You're not getting off that easy!"

Marfumi uses the whip of light to slice up the building into chunks. The chunks fall onto Paul, leaving him buried. Paul instantly punches the rubble off of him.

"So he can manipulate light. If I want to beat him, I need to find a way to dodge his attacks."

Paul looks at his shoulder and notices that he's bleeding.

"I was right. This is going to be a tough battle."

Marfumi appears next to Paul and tackles him into another building.

Paul applies the flex technique to his leg and jumps from the building to the side of a taller building.

Marfumi flies up to the sky in search of Paul.

"Paul is strong alright, but there's no way he will be able to keep up with me. My light manipulation allows me to split into many small light particles, and in that form, I move at the speed of light. He'll have to do something amazing to beat me!"

Marfumi looks at the building on his right and notices that Paul is using the accelerate technique to run at top speeds up the side of the building.

"There you are!"

Marfumi creates two whips of light in his hand and swings at the building multiple times. The building breaks into many pieces.

Marfumi splits into light particles and moves over to the falling building at light speed.

"Where did you go now, Paul?"

From the right of him, a piece of rubble is thrown at him. He splits into light particles to dodge it.

"Are you getting des—"

Before he can finish his sentence, Paul jumps off a piece of the building and punches Marfumi in the face with a flex technique.

"So you can be touched."

Marfumi gets sent flying by Paul's punch.

"You won't get away with that!"

Marfumi extends a rope of light and wraps it around Paul's waist. Paul gets pulled by Marfumi as he flies to the other side of the city.

As they fly through the city, Marfumi starts shooting precise beams of light. The beams of energy cut straight through Paul's skin, causing blood to spill out.

"Haha, how do you like that?"

Marfumi looks behind him and sees a tall building.

"Ok, time to drop you off!"

Marfumi splits into many small light particles and scatters. Paul slams into the building after being released from Marfumi's grasp. Paul goes through the building and lands on the street.

"I need to find a way to deal with that speed!"

Paul starts using the recover technique to heal his wounds.

"Healing right in front of me is a mistake!"

Paul looks through the hole his body made in the building in front of him. He sees Marfumi with a huge beam of light.

"Wait, I think I got it."

Paul uses the flex technique in the muscles in his arms and uses them to block the beam of light. The beam of light slowly starts to become larger.

"This beam of light should do it!"

Marfumi increases the beam of light and completely destroys multiple buildings in the area.

Marfumi lands back on the ground with a smile on his face.

"Oh, Paul! Did that attack finally send you back to the auditorium?"

When the dust clears, Marfumi sees Paul tying his cloak around his eyes.

"What are you doing now? Are you trying to mock me?"

Marfumi looks Paul up and down and notices that his clothes are torn all over and his body has blood spilling from multiple areas.

"Tch, you can't fool me! Your health bar is close to gone by now! Let me put you down now!"

Marfumi splits into small, light particles. He then appears next to Paul and puts his leg into a position to kick him. Marfumi swings his leg at Paul's head, but Paul easily dodges the kick.

"What!"

Paul goes in for a punch, but Marfumi quickly uses his powers to back away.

"How! How did he dodge that? I'm moving at light speed; it should be impossible to dodge my attacks!"

Marfumi shoots multiple small beams of light at Paul. Paul dodges all of them with ease.

"What! This is a fluke, right?"

Marfumi breaks into small light particles and appears behind Paul with a blade of light in his hand. Paul dodges all of his sword swings and counters with a punch to the chin.

"I finally learned how to keep up with the speed of light!"

"Marfumi rolls on the ground and quickly gets back up. When he gets back up, Paul uses the accelerate technique to get right in front of him. With the flex technique applied, Paul punches Marfumi through four buildings.

Paul uses the flex technique in his legs to jump to Marfumi's location.

Marfumi goes through a building and rolls onto the street. He then closes his right eye and sees that both his OGI tank and health are extremely low.

"How the hell is he dodging my attacks? Wait, it can't be! I thought I was sensing something going on in his body before, but I had no idea it would lead to this. He is using the accelerate and the sense technique at the same time. That's why he put on a blindfold so he could use his ears to their fullest potential. He uses the sense technique to hear me when I reform after splitting into particles, and then he adjusts his accelerate technique so he can dodge my attack the second he hears me reform! This guy? What the hell is he?"

Paul lands in front of Marfumi. Marfumi gets up and looks at Paul with a face of astonishment.

At this moment, Marfumi came to a realization.

"This man isn't strong because of some talent or overpowered ability. He's strong because he has honed his skills to the point where he has to hold himself back so he can keep learning."

Marfumi smiles, and a bunch of balls of light appear behind him.

"I guess you truly are the strongest student at Grava Academy!"

Marfumi shoots multiple beams of light at Paul. Paul starts dodging every beam with ease.

"Rahh!"

Marfumi resorts to rushing straight toward Paul since his OGI tank is running too low to split into particles.

"You have a lot of drive, Marfumi, so I'll repay you with the same!"

Paul and Marfumi get into a clash of fists with the flex technique applied. They go hit-for-hit causing each other bits of damage.

"Rahh!"

"Rahh!"

Paul dodges a punch from Marfumi and then punches him in the stomach. Marfumi falls to his knees.

"Wow, you're strong, but it seems we can't fight until the end. My OGI tank is completely empty.

Marfumi smiles, and he instantly gets sent back to the auditorium. Paul takes his cloak off of his eyes.

"If that was just the number three of class two, then this tournament will definitely be good training for me."
