Chapter -16

Both kanao and Kenji reached the place where final selection is held. Mount Fuji kasane.

There were around 20 people already present. The presence of Kenji brought most of the attention to them mainly due to his peculiar eyes but he just shrugged it off and went to an corner with kanao.

He looked around and saw Zenitsu muttering something and shaking in fear. Even though his expression was neutral he was feeling excited seeing the second member of kamaboko squad.

Using his emotion sensing ability he looks at Zenitsu. 'What the? He is really scared. Currently the only thing he is feeling is fear and regret. Regret? For coming here?'

After few moments an another person comes in his view. It was tanjiro kamado the main protagonist of the show and future husband of the girl standing beside him.

He used his emotion sensing ability on tanjiro too. 'He is filled with kindness, determination and surprised. What is he surprised about? Is he surprised that there are so many people here?'

(Tanjiro pov)

Tanjiro was currently climbing the stairs and looks at the wisteria around him. 'Wow! But wisteria shouldn't be blooming this time of year.'

He reached the mountain. 'What is this scent? It's making me feel giddy.' He tried to find where this strange scent was coming from.

Tanjiro's gaze fell upon Kenji who was currently talking to kanao. 'What are those patterns in his eyes and that mark !'

His thoughts were interrupted by the doll looking kids speaking.

(Tanjiro's pov ends)

"Greetings everyone. Thank you for gathering tonight for final selection. Mount Fuji kasane holds demons that demon slayer swordsman have taken alive and trapped here." The black hair kid said. Even though he looks like a girl but he was actually a boy disguised as girl.

"Demons hate wisteria flower which blooms here even out of season. They cover the mountain from its foot to the halfway up the slope." The white haired kid said which was actually a girl.

"However from that point on. The wisteria does not bloom. So the demons roam free. You must survive there for seven days."

"If you do then you will have passed the final selection. Now go"

Everyone departured to the mountain. Kanao and Kenji also seperated. Even though Shinobu told them to not seperate and team up but they still seperated.

He entered the mountain and soon after he saw a demon behind a tree looking at him.

"Hehe my first prey. " Demon chuckled and lunged onto Kenji but before he could even reach Kenji. His neck was cut off and his body started to disintegrate.

(A/n:- If you are wondering how strong he is then. With mark he can defeat douma even if douma fight seriously. Without mark he can defeat Akaza.)

'Sigh i don't even need to use any breathing form. They are too weak.' He shook his head and started to walk away.

'Should I find tanjiro? Even though he survived in anime but this is reality and it's AU no less. I don't need to worry about kanao as she can even defeat the strongest demon on this mountain hand demon, pretty easily.' He thought and started to search for tanjiro.

He heard voice of someone telling in frustration and started to move towards the voice. 'That must be the reaction of Hand demon when he found out how much time has passed.'

Coming into this world and practicing breathing techniques made his memory stronger. He remembers everything that he has seen even in his past life.

Reaching the place from where he heard the voice, there he saw tanjiro getting punched by the hand demon. Just as he was about to crash against an tree Kenji saved him.

Kenji had held tanjiro in bridal style position. Both were looking at each other dotted eyes. "Are you okay?"

Kenji said while putting tanjiro down on his feet. "Yes, thank you for saving me." Tanjiro said and got into his fighting stance again.

"Do I need to interfere or you can handle this?" Kenji asked while pointing at the furious hand demon.

The Hand Demon was a monstrously large, veiny, hulking monster with olive green skin, blood red fingernails, and beady yellow eyes with cross-hatch shaped pupils. He had multiple arms and his mouth was huge, with jagged teeth. He had so many arms that he was moving on all his hands like an animal.

"Who are you brat? ARE YOU ALSO ONE OF UROKODAKI STUDENT? NO THAT CAN'T BE YOU AREN'T EVEN WEARING AN FOX MASK BUT YOU WOULD STILL MAKE A FINE MEAL !" Hand demon said or more like yelled.

"I will handle it on my but again thanks for saving me." Tanjiro said and runs towards the hand demon.

Hand demon tried to kill tanjiro by punching him and threw many more arms towards tanjiro but he sliced up every arm. 'A strange smell from the ground !'

Tanjiro leaps in the air as many hands sprout from the ground. Kenji decided to interfere and cuts through every arm that came out of ground without any kind of change in his expression.

'This brat ! But first I need to kill this boy.' Hand demon thought and tried to punch tanjiro who was still in the mid air. Tanjiro headbutts the arm and flips in the air.

Changing his position, he was starting to fall towards the hand demon.

[Water breathing : First form- Water surface slash]

"Hraaaah!" Tanjiro yelled and sliced the hand demons neck. Hand demon head seperated from his neck.

His body started to disintegrate and he looks at Tanjiro whose back was facing him.

'I smell sadness ' Tanjiro thought as he took hold of hand demon hand and brought it to his forehead. "Please God, when he is reborn don't let him become a demon."

Hand demon eyes widened as he heard tanjiro. He looks at Kenji who was also looking at him. "May you rest in peace."

The hand demon finally disintegrated. Tanjiro stood up from his position and looks at Kenji. "My name is Tanjiro kamado, It's nice to meet you."

"My name is Kenji sato." Kenji said. Now that tanjiro got time to properly look at Kenji. His red hair was similar to his own red hair. His presence was really soothing and voice was pleasant to hear. (A/n:- This effect also happened at butterfly estate but I forgot to mention.)

"Then bye bye" Kenji said and walked away.

(After seven days : In the morning)

"Welcome back"

"Congratulations I'm glad you are safe."
