Addison shook me awake again the following morning. "Today you can't sleep in, so get up," he then began to tug on my arm. I groggily asked him if he was going to wake me up like this every morning. "Unless you get up on your own, but I don't see that happening." I chuckled a bit and got up to get dressed. At least I wasn't going to be late ever.
Once I was dressed he dragged me to our first class. It was a history class about how humans and Inhumans become "friends" Everyone knows the story. An inhuman named Brock fell in love with a human named Izzy. They were happy together in secret. Izzy then one day found out she was pregnant with Brock's child and they told everyone about their love. The Inhumans were all on board, but the humans didn't want Izzy to have an Inhumans child so one night they killed her. No one knows what happened to Brock except that he disappeared after her murder.
The teacher told it a different way. She said it was the Inhumans who murdered Izzy. I slammed my hands down onto the table along with the other humans. "That's bullshit!" I screamed. "Izzy was killed by her own people because she was carrying Brock's child" The other Inhumans agreed and the humans disagreed saying Brock's family murdered her. A huge argument broke loose. A human with scruffy red hair swung at me saying we were all murderers. I punched him right in the face, "you humans are all the same! You blame us for anything and everything!" I hit him again this time I heard bones breaking. I wasn't sure if it was mine rebreaking or his.
The boy and I were taken to the nurse's office and it was both my hand and his jaw that were broken. I was still angry and tried to tell the nurse that he swung first, but she didn't believe me. I slumped into the chair and yanked my hand away from her. "Victor you need to be bandaged!" I shook my head and left the nurses office and went straight to my room. Might as well pack because it would take a miracle for me to stay after breaking that kid's jaw.
Addison was in there and he was crying. "Hey. Why are you," he turned so fast and hit my arm repeatedly.
"How could you say something so mean! I thought we were friends?" Addison sobbed. I grabbed his arms and tried to calm him down, but he just kept crying.
Almost an hour later and he was finally calm enough for me to ask what he was talking about. He was crying because of what I had said about humans. "Addison… I'm sorry. I didn't mean you…" I sighed, "it's just humans have always blamed Inhumans for everything when we haven't done anything."
Addison hugged me and forgave me. He pulled away and stared at my hand, "you broke it again?" Before I could even answer his hit me in the chest, "go get that set before it gets icky!" I sighed and went with him back to the nurse's office, and got my handset in a cast again. Once my hand was in a cast again Addison led me back to the room. I never received anything about me being expelled so it's gonna take a lot more than breaking some kids jaw to get me out. I was however told I couldn't attend class for a while so Addison would pick up my homework and help me with it after classes. Good news is that I could still play football even with my busted hand.
Addison went with me to practice and watched from the bleachers. The coach didn't like me so much and made that well known. He made me do more drills then the others and I stayed an extra thirty minutes after practice. There wasn't even a guarantee that I would even be able to play in the games. I was kind of upset that the coach was making things harder on me just because I was inhuman. I tried to hide my disappointment from Addison, but I think he knew from that first day of practice.
One day after practice as we were walking back to our room Addison suddenly asked me what I really thought of the Brock and Izzy story. "Well, I think it was sweet and that whoever killed Izzy did it because they didn't want to see the two races united." Addison agreed and said he thought that Izzy and Brock actually ran away together to have their family in secret. "We'll never know I guess, but it would be nice to think that they are both happy together with their kid." We were quiet for a while until Addison asked something that utterly shocked me.
"Would you ever date a human, Victor?" I stopped in my tracks and thought for a moment. I said I didn't know. I'd have to find the right human to date. Addison just nodded and I asked him the same question. "I think so. I mean you guys aren't so different. You can do things we can't. It's actually kind of cool. It would be like dating a superhero." He was smiling from ear to ear. I just chuckled to myself. The rest of the walk back consisted of Addison asking me football questions which was a better topic for me to think about.
That night Addison looked at me and asked, "do you think I'll find my Brock?" I told him there was no way of knowing if he'd find his Brock or maybe he'd find his Izzy. "I hope you find your Izzy," Addison said sleepily. I just nodded and played down. I didn't want to think about that. I would probably never find a human that would like me that way anyway. "Don't forget you can go back to class tomorrow so no sleeping in," Addison said as he drifted off to sleep.
