CHAPTER 5

PRINCESS EMILY "What is the matter major? Let's get this sorted immediately." Arthur said as he took his seat in the throne in a poise to sink fear into his approaching opponent. "Sire, It is not a matter of violence. I only called you out because the princess gave an order to meet you first thing in the morning when she wakes up and she is up now your highness. It is her birthday." The major said, taking a bow and making a shift for the princess to come through. She had blindfolded herself and made her maids lead her to the King's court yard "Hey daddy! It's my tenth birthday!" She said taking off the blindfold. And you said I can't make orders till I am ten. So I gave my first order. Seeing you first on my tenth birthday is the sweetest thing i've ever experienced". She said running and hugging her dad who was dumbfounded and still in awe. He hugged her too and tears fell off his eyes to his cheek. [ If only she was a boy, he would be the proudest and happiest father in the universe]. "You are now a big girl Emily my princess; he said fondly. Now you can sit beside mom in this room while I entertain visitors so that you would be acquainted with how it is done. I love you so much my angel" He said; carrying her up to his left shoulder in a gentle throw and took her to his room. They both got into the room and met the empress already dressed in one of her finest outfits. "Mommy, daddy was really the first person I saw on my tenth birthday!" The young woman said running to her mom. "I'm happy for you baby. I know It would work!" Ruby said to her baby. "Hold on?? Was this planned? Don't tell me you knew about this all along and allowed me hurried over my bath in that manner!? (In a hushed voice) and I forgot to wash my hair" Arthur said while the two women laughed hard. Emily had the best tenth birthday ever as Emperor Arthur called out to every member of the royal cabinet cycle. They all witnessed the king making a very delicate and powerful declaration of granting any three wishes of the little princess. They all cheered and waited for princess Emily to say something. Everybody were murmuring suggestions but the little woman need not anybody to tell her what to request for. She has one very important pressing matter which has been bothering her little mind for over a year now. "My first wish! I wish my daddy would give me the honour of leadership when I am ripe of age and see how great an Empress would be; leading the formidable people of Blue Dragon in place of a man. As the first child, even if a male child comes afterwards, I want to be treated as a male child and given all the rights of a first son. I want to be seen as the heir so that every form of doubt, fear, disagreement and side talks would die. These are my wishes dad" She said and look at her dad who winked at her as a sign that she should leave the podium for him to take over. She left the podium and return to her mom. "you have all heard my princess speak with old wisdom. I do not go back on my words. All she has said has been granted". Arthur said and placed his right hand in a blue seal paint and made a mark of his right palm on the white wall behind him. Emily was called forward too, she placed her hand in a red seal paint and imprinted her palm print in between the king's print. It's a very big seal of 'vow-with-honour'. Time flew and the Princess was now an adult. She was eighteen last year; now she's nineteen and still loved the circus. This time, she goes out alone most of the times with her personal maids. Well, all her maids loved her because she was a young girl that's used to luxury. When she gets so much, she gives them to the maids who would definitely use it while attending circuses at night to spend a few hours with their lovers. Every girl in the princess league has a man except the princess who was falling for a young lad that work as a cook for animals in the circus. He owns a carriage with two horses. He looks like a kid from Asia. Although the era of horses are fading by but he seemed to love it better than modern cars with engines. He would always say; "These cars make terrible noises, they consume money too when it comes to refilling the petrol tank. They might break down unexpectedly in the middle of nowhere. Then you would never forgive yourself for letting our horses and chariot being replaced with a moving small house made of steel. Mario is a very smart and hard working young man. He's only 20. One year older than Emily. He lost both parents in a fire accident and ever since, he has never gone back to his native land because they still thinks he was responsible for his parents death. Some said he is possessed by an evil spirit and has exiled himself from the tribe. He alone knew what happened that night and is trying to find a way to get his tribe's men see him as an innocent fellow who just happened to be hit by an unforeseen circumstance of life. He barely moves outside the circus arena; and to that purpose, he barely knew anywhere around Blue Dragon. Meeting Emily was one fancy thing that has ever happened to him for the first time in a long time. Whenever she goes out with her maids who were her only friends, they split up and anyone who finishes first with catching up with her lover meets the other and they both find the last person and head back home. Mario made Emily got fond of his chariot. For her sake, he removed the default wooden log inside made for sitting and replaced it with a cushion he got with half of all his savings just to make it worthy for a royalty. He comes every evening to check up on Emily and on every friday evening, they all go for the circus. Things kept going on in that way smoothly over time until Wendy decided to let her jealousy had the best of her; which made her ruin something beautiful. She was almost successful but fate took its course. The stars were in positive order on behalf of Emily on the night she would have almost lost the trust, love and respect of her parents and kingdom at large. Pretence is a poison. too much trust is like venom. On that Faithfull day, when the girls went out like usual, it took Wendy almost a day to get back to the two others. When she finally came back to them before they went home together, it was almost dark. It was the first of its kind. Wendy on the other hand was not talking to anybody till they got home. She tried to keep what happened to herself but Emilia has already sworn to herself to dig out what happened. Due to her limitations and restriction in movement, she was lost. But this is what happened...
