It took two days of testimony from character witnesses but in the end Liberty remained satisfied that everyone helped to paint a picture of Madeline Kime as an intelligent, creative, professional, loving, kind, generous, and compassionate woman who gave of her time and expertise to help her good friend, Daniel Baumgard.
Rhett Baumgard testified to Maddy's character, noting that he and she had been close in high school, but had ended their relationship when they went off college, although they still maintained a friendship to this day. So far, Rhett attended court without his wife. Later Liberty learned that Savannah had been recused from testifying due to her precarious mental state, a definite plus for the defense.
