Chapter 1AND THEN SHE DIED

SHE stared at the numerous monitors in front of her without any emotion. Men wearing black ops uniform were stealthily walking as if afraid that they would alarm their target. Her. She scoffed. Did they really think that she was unaware of their movements? The moment they entered this building she was already aware of their every move. Nothing could escape the nano cameras surrounding this building from inside out. Did those idiots from the military forget where this was? Or did they actually forget who she was?

She was the most revered inventor of the 31st century. Making inventions after inventions since the age of five. From AI robots to flying cars to mundane electronic gadgets. She couldn't even remember how many things she made for the past twenty years. And this, this place was her nest. Her laboratory. All her inventions, all her patents, they were here. That's probably the reason why those idiots were attacking this place now. To get those patents. And of course, to get her.

Last month, this country officially declared war against country A. And those top officials wanted her to make weapons to fight for their war. Saying as how it's her responsibility as a citizen of this country. She sneered. How did it become her responsibility? Was she the one who stupidly declared war against that country? Was she the one who caused it? No. She has nothing to do with it. She would not participate in their war just because her nationality happened to be the same as them. So she refused.

As retaliation, they did everything to pressure her into agreeing. But what could they do to her, really? She has ample funds that could probably last a hundred lifetimes, so they couldn't threaten her with money. She's an orphan with no known relatives, so they couldn't threaten her with the lives of her family. She doesn't have any friends. She was too busy with her inventions to be socially active. Basically they have nothing to threaten her with. That's probably why they ended in this current situation. Sending special black ops to her lab to steal her patents and kidnap her. Did they really think she will make it that easy?

She pressed a button on her keyboard and activated all the traps in the building. Soon, she heard the screams of those unsuspecting soldiers. She ignored it and started typing. Complicated codes appeared on the big monitor in front of her. She's done with all the shit the government and military were throwing at her. They wanted to win the war? Then she'll make sure they would lose. Those idiots also probably forgot that she's a top level hacker. In this world where almost everything was controlled by technology, with her hacking ability, she could do almost anything. When she finished the code, she immediately pressed 'enter'.

This code was a virus she specially made for this occasion. It will released every dark secret the government and military has to the public. Then it will devour every last one of their mainframe, slowly crippling the country in the process. This will no doubt affect the economy and stability of the country. Which in turn will affect the lives of the innocent citizens. But she really didn't care. She wasn't someone overly sympathetic. It could even be said that she's indifferent to the extreme.

Sure, she wouldn't do anything that could cause the death of someone if she didn't need to. But if the situation forced her to, she wouldn't bat an eye either. That's just how she was. And now, she's pissed. Destroying the government and the military would definitely appease her.

After she finished sending the code out, she turned her attention back to the special black ops who's now frantically scrambling away from the traps inside the building. As she hesitated if she should get some popcorn while watching these soldiers fend for themselves, the tightly locked door (which she reinforced with the most advanced security system) suddenly blew up. From the smoke, she first saw a pair of combat boots. Then a pair of long, muscular legs tightly fitted in black pants. Soon, she saw the person who apparently destroyed her door.

It was a tall man, probably in his late twenties, wearing the standard black ops uniform. His black hair was also in a standard army crew cut. Anyone could see the strong muscles on his arms and wide chest. But his most noticeable feature was probably his eyes. A pair of obsidian black eyes, so fierce it could probably cut into anything. But of course, it was not the first thing she noticed. It's the gun he's holding and currently pointing at her.

"Please, come quietly with us, Doctor," he said in a deep voice full of authority. He said 'please', but his tone definitely would not allow any kind of refusal.

She stood up and sighed. To evade all the traps and come here as quickly as he did, this guy was probably an elite of the military. It's not like she didn't include in her calculation the possibility that the military would send an elite soldier to apprehend her. This just meant that she would have to execute her plan B.

"I'd rather not," she said indifferently.

She knew there's no use saying that. This guy would probably just forced her to come with him. She's not delusional enough to think that she could overpower him. She's a genius, yes, but her physical strength could be compared to that of a chicken. There's no trap left in this room. So she would surely be taken. Then she would be trapped in some base, forced to fix the government and military mainframe and then forced to make all the weapons they wanted. She sneered in her heart. She'd rather die than end up in that kind of situation.

She sighed again. Looked like this was the end of her short life. Did she have any regrets? A certain memory flashed inside her mind but she immediately tamped it down. No. She didn't have one. She didn't even have any lingering feelings towards this world, or towards her life.

With that, she took a spherical object the same size as a baseball ball from the left pocket of her lab coat. This was a specialized bomb she made. The power of this bomb was not that big, just enough to wipe out this whole building. She looked at the guy in front of her. She smirked then pushed the trigger button without any hesitation.

A white light appeared. A prelude to the incoming explosion. She started to close her eyes. But then she saw the expression on the guy's face - a mix of horror and worry. Before she could even think why he would have that kind of look, everything disappeared with the deafening explosion.

The last thing she remembered was that soldier frantically shouting her name.

But her plan is quick to catch fire from the moment the eyes of Roman Moltenore from senior year lands on her. And his appearance screams nothing but TROUBLE. "What rules?" Julianne asked with a frown as she read through the page. She was sure she hadn't seen any rules of the campus mentioned on their website. # 4. No using cell phones. # 12. Students should not roam outside the campus after eleven in the night. The further she read, the more bizarre it turned out to be. Her friend turned the page and then pointed at the last rule # 29. Listen to Roman Moltenore. "This is made up. Look, the last one is even written in pencil." Julianne couldn't believe that her friend from the next dorm thought she would fall for it. "And no phone?" "It is important you abide by all the rules. Especially number twenty nine," said the girl in a serious tone. "Remember not to get involved with Roman. If you happened to see him, run in the other direction. There is a reason why it is written down here." With the rules of the campus, she resorts to sending handwritten letters to her uncle. But who knew it would end up in someone else’s hand!

Young master Damien's pet

"Who touched you?" he asked, his eyes brooding down at her and when she didn't answer, his voice thundered in the room, "WHO?" The butler who stood near the wall spoke shakily, "Sir, it was Mr. Reverale," Damien's face turned sour, his jaw ticking in anger he turned his face to the side where the butler stood behind. "Bring the man here." "N-now?" stuttered the butler. It was the time of night. Damien who hadn't broken his eye contact with the girl in front of him, pushed his hand against the wall which now rested beside his beautiful girl's head. Turning his body, he first looked at his butler who had his head bowed. With great courage, the butler came to meet his Master's eyes, "Do you have any other better time? Or should it be after I wring your neck?" Damien asked calmly tilting his head. Not a second later, the butler ran out of the room to return back with Mr. Reverale after twenty minutes. "Damien, are we having a late tea party?" Mr. Reverale came to greet but the master of the house had other plans. Spotting the knife that was stuck to the apple on the table, he reached for it to pull it out. Just as Mr. Reverale went to exchange a handshake with him, Damien took hold of his hand to place it on the table. In one swift movement as if he were chopping onions, he chopped the four fingers of the man off his hand making him yelp and cry in pain. "No one touches what is mine. I am sure this will remind you the next time you even think about touching her," sighed Damien as if he were tired of telling people to keep their dirty hands off his belongings. But in this small mission, there is a small obstruction —— The three alluring temptations. *********** Resisting the temptation take 1: “MMPH,” Luo Huian pushed against the mer who had pushed her down on the bed while sitting on her waist. “Get off.” “I can’t,” answered Qi Yongrui as he took off his shirt. “Daddy Shun said that he is envious of Uncle Wang. He also wants to hold a grandchild. So, wife let's work hard tonight alright?” Luo Huian: Dear Heavens save me, I am a woman of no desire! **** Resisting the temptation take 2: “Do you think he is good looking?” Fan Meilin questioned the woman who stood next to him. Even though he was the one who won the race and the trophy, his wife was looking at the other mer. “Well yes,” Luo Huian, who was an appreciator of beauty, agreed at once. “Why are you asking this though?” Fan Meilin’s eyes flashed as he smiled at her and leaned in closer to her body as he whispered in her ear, “He might be good looking but I am a better driver. Not only on the track but also in bed, do you want to try darling?” Luo Huian: Resist the temptation! At all costs! I am an iron-hearted woman. ***** Resisting the temptation take 3: “Is this necessary?” Luo Huian questioned as she sat on the couch, watching the mer trace his fingers on her curves while she sat in nothing but modern swimwear. The mer nodded as he wrote on his small notepad, “I need to trace every inch of your skin to create my finest creation, so don’t move.” After he finished writing, he handed the notepad to Luo Huian, his fingers brushing against the curve of her bosom, waist and ——— Luo Huian: My virtue is at extreme risk! ** Fl who is trying to do everything to save her virtue from being taken as it would slow down her cultivation X Mls who are trying their best to snatch it from her. *********** Trigger warning: though the book is set in a comedic setting, there might be some uneasy topics that would discuss depression and loneliness. ***********

Overall 3.2/5 If you’re ok with a passive MC who has people falling for her left and right, go ahead and read. It’s interesting when characters don’t step all over the MC and hog the limelight with their over-the-top obsession. Don’t expect the MC to do anything but the minimum required of them. It’s for “comedic” and “evocative” purposes. Writing quality 3/5 There are occasional errors when the author switches from past to present tense. You can ignore the errors, but they’re a constant irritation in the background. Stability of updating 5/5 92 chapters in 20 days. Dang, son. Maybe the author needs to slow their roll and plan out a bit more. Each chapter is probably over 2,500 words. That’s 230,000 words. You should be satisfied with half that amount and if you demand more, I’m going to flame you on the author’s behalf. Story development 3/5 It would’ve been higher, but the characters keep interrupting with their obsession with the MC. It got tiring real fast when so many strong people came out of the woodwork and obsessed over the MC. Character design 1/5 Everyone important is OP, especially the MC who was crafted as a Mary Sue. She even had no ties to the world, which made her the ideal person to revolutionize the otherworld. Sadly, the MC loses any ability to make those impressive inventions after transmigrating to another world. That is, except that magic suppressing bracelet or whatever. What’s worse is that she latches onto the body’s family despite being characterized as independent because she “owes” them for giving her another chance. Seriously? The original owner died stupidly for not listening to her mother. Even if you’re caring for her family for convenience, the least she could do is try to control her wild sister’s behavior. You don’t live in a bubble. It’s a dangerous world of magic and monsters. It’s really tragic since all we’ve got to show for the MC’s intelligence is their aloofness and confidence as a child. Listen to the MC go on about dissecting things without the MC making tech for self-defense. See as the MC gets into dangerous situations, but never actually be in danger because their transmigrated soul rejects magic and any threat is too weak or already fell in love with the MC. I had high hopes when the MC talked about skipping town on her kingdom for being looked down as a talentless nobody. She wanted to start a business on her own. But when no one respects her status as a duke, I’m losing all confidence in her, especially when she’s incredibly passive. She doesn’t control her sister, doesn’t make any defenses when threatened, doesn’t make tech for a distraction or toy, and overly relies on an unknown power that might give out at any time when negating magic. Let’s not mention the potential love interests that appear, being excessively powerful and unreasonable. I’m getting flashbacks to ”His Genius Wife Is A Superstar” where the characters step all over the supposedly strong and independent MC. It’s infuriating and depressing. World background 4/5 There’s enough to go around when the characters aren’t busy pouting about who gets the MC. There are a few things I want to debate, but maybe the author addresses the problems or I missed something. Either way, it’s a pretty slow and steady build.

An honest review that I might be grading a bit harshly. The quality of writing is pretty good with mostly proper grammar, consistent with it's tense and style of writing, as well as spelling. While the novel could use more attention to detail, whether it be in fights, inventions, or people. Overall I find no real problem with it. I am normally a very nitpicky person when it comes to the quality and style of writing. This novel generally has almost no mistakes if any. A style that's easy to read and understand. The more chapters I read, the more the writing improves. Keep up the good good work! I have absolutely no idea when it comes to the stability of updating as I haven't been here for very long, so I've been scrolling through the comments in which absolutely no one complains about it. Maybe a few people asking for a mass release, but it's nothing big. From what I've observed, the stability of the updates are more than enough to satisfy your average or even hungry for more readers. This may be too early for me especially since they've only recently returned from studying, however the Story Development isn't much from my perspective. I can foresee a lot of development in the future for them from where I am now but as for what I've read, it's not very satisfying. Not much has happened throughout what I've read all in all, but I'm expecting some very promising things from the foundation that has been and continues to be set up. The subtle foreshadowing throughout everything leaves the reader wanting more. Now here's where I have a bone to pick. The character development, or lack thereof, drives me crazy. Argent has not been improving herself or even truly growing. We have not had moments in which she's wrong or even learns from her mistakes. Training in it's own doesn't count unless you make a point of it. Noting has truly grown into a part of her aside from her family and servants from beginning to chapter 60. The only thing that she has learned or gained is to love her family as well as learn from others. Which is honestly for her, a very grand improvement but I can't get past the fact the she hasn't grown otherwise. She may be a genius, but geniuses make mistakes and learn from them just as well as anyone else. I also have a bone to pick with her being indifferent at the beginning. Destroying to countries out of spite is NOT indifferent. That is all about her indifference. Aurum on the other hand, gets a big 5 stars for her character development. From and anxious and traumatized young girl, never knowing how to deal with people, into a Little White Flower. Aurum was able to exponentially improve her social interaction skills despite her lack of interest and trauma. Her life or death clinging to Argent has lessened or increased? Into a Bro-con for us readers. The only thing I have a problem with is the lack of expansion on her emotions and her healing process over time. Otherwise, Aurums Character Development was fantastic. Winter and Mishla: nothing. Nuff' said. Aurum really carried the team in this section. World Dev? I'm a pretty terrible judge of that but I'm not satisfied by the lack of detail for it, I guess. From what I've read, the author doesn't really expand on it much. They probably will in the future, but it's honestly not to my liking. There's nothing wrong, it's just not fantastic to to me. Overall, this is a really good read. Finally there's a female protagonist. 50 chapters in and there's really no sign of the ML which is normally a miracle. He'll pop up later though. Female Lead? Check! Genius? Check! Overall Decent Development? Check! Strong FL? Check! MC Takes No BS? Check! Naive MC? HELL NO! Fantasy? Check! Monsters? Haven't really encountered them yet. Good Read? HELL YES!
