Nashiro looked away. It was obvious he was hiding the truth but he didn't want to say. It would make him seem weird. Who would believe that he doesn't remember anything past the last 2 days?

"I understand..." she opened the window in his room and headed towards the door.

"I..." he spoke, "I don't know anything that happened. I seemed to have lost my memories and I can't remember anything since I woke up 2 days ago."

"Really? You don't know anything?"

"Nothing, except my name. I can't even remember who my family was or anything. Everything is blank " he woed.

"I'm sorry to hear that," she leaned against the frame of the door, "Get some rest, maybe you'll recall some things."

"What's your name?" he asked before she left.

"Call me Kay," she told him before she left his sight.

It was very clear to him that she is mysterious. She didn't tell him her name until he asked and that already rose up flags.

'Looks like she doesn't want to get too friendly with me.'

He sighed and placed his head on the pillow behind him. His head sunk into it as he tried to catch some rest.

...

Kay travelled up the stairs and went straight to her room. Her own personal space, where she can relax without much bother. It was a place perfect for her. It had a nice and comfy bed. A window which was recently replaced, due to her having a moment and throwing a vase at Damien and hit the window by accident. She is still a little embarrassed by it when she thinks about it. She approached her desk and turned on her fairy light. It was a little fairy living in a small place in a globe-shaped figure.

"Hey, Ignam, did you get a good rest?" she asked as she opened the glass to let her roam. Ignam jumped out and flew around the room, stretching her wings.

As she was having her moment, Kay turned to her collection of books. It was a wide variety of history, geography, biology, but it was mostly magic preferably wind. She pulled an old book or rather it couldn't be considered a book. It was a notebook. It was the only memory left of her grandfather. She never met her parents nor does she know if they are even alive. Up until his death, she was just another normal girl.

She flipped through the notebook and found the page she was looking for:

'Through nothingness, a hero will be born. He will be lost, confused by the world around him and to no fault of his own, he will get involved in it. Crucially, with the help of his comrades, this world is going to change for better or worse. Depending on what side influences him in this power-hungry world, he is going to change the future where one's destiny rises and the other perishes into oblivion. How is this gonna shape up?

I can't tell. I probably won't be alive to witness it, but I'm sure my granddaughter and the people of this continent will. This war has to stop and it's not going to be easy for anyone, even the hero. But to whoever gets their hold on this land, it will change our perspective on everything.'

Her grandfather's words were enough to make her tear up just a little. The tears went down her face and onto the notebook and his handwriting. Ignam landed next to her, expressing concern. She wiped her tears off and sniffed.

"I'm okay," Kay spoke, "It's hard to read this from someone you can't get back."

At that moment, Damien rushed into her room.

"Kay!"

He then saw that her eyes were watery.

"Oh, I should have knocked, apologies."

"No, it's alright, what's wrong?"

"I was on patrol and I ran into a horse, laying on the ground. It's heavily injured and... I don't know if it's going to make it."

"I'm going with you. Take some of the medicine we have, we're going to try and save it."

"Right!" he ran off to grab some supplies.

"Ignam, you stay here and don't wander off downstairs or you're scare the guest."

Ignam shook her head and asked if she could come. She used her hands and facial expressions to communicate.

"Why would you want to come?"

Ignam indicated that she could help if necessary.

"Okay, get in my pocket."

Ignam jumped happily as she tucked up in her pocket.

Going downstairs, she peeked in Nashiro's room and he was asleep. Typical, although she isn't blaming him after what he went through until now.

Closing the door, she met up with Damien.

"I got everything required."

"Good, lead the way."

They left for the forest and headed all the way to the river which flowed by. They weren't walking as the life of the animal was at stake.

"Here!" Damien shouted and stopped.

"N-nyaah" the horse lifted its head. It was full of scars and open cuts that one would throw up at the sight. It certainly made Damien think about how he wished that he didn't see it but Kay approached it and glanced at the wounds.

"It's infected, we have to act quick," she said and Damien quickly stepped into action. He poured some water to clean the wounds.

Ignam left Kay's pocket and went to the horse's head. The horse gazed at her half-heartedly as it pleaded. Ignam shook it's head and tried to help as much as her small hands could handle. Kay used some of the herbs Damien brought. One of which was called Ornamental Kalia. It was one of the best healing herbs money can buy. It is rare and very expensive in some places. Being in the ranger's guild, they get some of these supplies very cheaply. The horse groaned as the herb did its thing.

"It's okay girl, it's okay, we're fixing you up," Kay stayed composed and focused on doing everything in her power to save it. The cuts seemer to be from a whip and even some usage of a knife. It wasn't a pleasant view at all.

Damien noticed the horse was losing consciousness.

"We're losing her!"

He yelled as he panicked.

"Stay calm! We can do this."

Her hands were full of blood. Rushing from one place to another, she tried to keep it alive but in the end, it wasn't enough. Damien was listening to the heart rate when it took its final breath.

"It's... Gone," he added.

The word 'gone' echoed through her like bad reminisce. She didn't let up and even tried to use the little knowledge on healing magic she could muster.

"Kay, stop," he approached, "We did all we could. The wounds were too deep and it caused a lot of complications. Not to mention-"

"Enough! I can still do something," she shouted with frustration looming the air around.

"Kay, we must let the poor thing rest."

"I'm not giving up!"

Damien sighed and grabbed her, pulling her away from it.

"Damien, you can't!" she tried to release herself but couldn't. They argued as he tried to contain her.

Ignam, seeing her reaction, felt like she had to do something. Her golden hair and green wings weren't for nothing. She was a fairy! And now it was her time to show what she could do.
