Lucas pulled his hand from Amber’s grip as they arrived in front of the company.
"Are we seriously going to that company?" Lucas inquired. As Amber approached the driveway, she got into her car and drove it to Lucas, who reluctantly opened the door and got in, stealing a glance at the company.
"Don’t worry about those agents; they will be gone once they learn the truth." Amber said, and stepped on the gas, driving away at great speed. Lucas clutched the seat belt and made sure it was clinging to his body.
"Slow down babe, I mean boss, the company is just a few blocks away," he complained. Amber pulled up in front of the company at great speed, nearly hitting an old man on the way. The old man used his stick to hit the trunk of her car and started walking away slowly.
She got out of the car and stood in front of the company with Lucas. Large trucks started driving out of the company, with their company logo and the name of the new perfume at the back.
"How are we going to get into the company without getting caught?" Lucas inquired as his eyes drifted to two security guards who were both shutting the gate of the company. He stared at the logo and jerked his head back to look at Amber.
"This is not the company we saw earlier." Lucas said. Amber sighed, folding her hand.
"Yea, I know, it’s not the company I thought it was, it was a misunderstanding." she replied.
"So what are we going to do now? The owner of this company is very sly." Lucas said.
"He hasn’t met me." Amber said with an evil grin and started walking to the entrance. He ran after her and they both halted at the gate. One of the security guards walked over to them, staring at them through the gate.
"Who are you guys?" he inquired.
"We are big customers of this company. We are here to talk to the boss." Lucas said with his head held high. The security man smirked, looking at them from top to bottom.
"Just because you guys are well dressed doesn’t mean you are rich. Wait here while I call my boss." He said, and sauntered away. Amber leaned in and whispered to Lucas.
"Are we going to wait for him to call his boss or just go in there?" she whispered.
"We could if the gate was open, but it isn’t. We don’t even have the keys," Lucas whined.
Amber moved closer to the gate and put her hand on the other side, trying to reach for the padlock. She opened the gate slowly and they both ran into the company.
"Hey! You there!" the security guard yelled, running after them. Amber dashed into the company with Lucas and caught the attention of the employees in the main area, who stared at them. She sighted the security guard and pulled him into an elevator. She punched the button on the elevator continuously and the doors closed.
The security guard ran to the elevator and started banging on it, and eventually decided to use the stairs.
"Where are we going?" Lucas inquired.
"I have no idea. This is the first time I am visiting this company." she replied and pressed another button to take her to the first floor.
"There might be something interesting on the first floor," she added.
"If we want to expose them and find evidence to defend ourselves, we must dress like one of their own, so they won’t recognize us." Lucas suggested.
"Come on, that’s not gonna work. They probably know the faces of all their employees," Amber said.
"That’s impossible. There are a lot of employees in this company, and they can’t know the faces of everyone. Are you trying to tell me you know everyone that is working for your company?" he asked, resting his back on the wall.
She twisted her lips and sighed, standing next to him. "You are right," she replied flatly. They both stood there until the elevator stopped midway. The door flew open and three employees walked into the elevator, two girls and one guy.
Lucas smirked and leaned closer to Amber, whispering in her ear. "We can borrow this guy's uniform," he whispered, scanning one of the girls with her eyes. Her name tag was in her uniform, and she was in the testing department. The guy was in the chemical department. He grin staring at Amber.
"Do you have some fighting skills?" Amber whispered as the elevator opened and one of the girls walked out.
"I have, I also brought a gun," he replied, flaunting a rifle. Amber’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, wondering if all he does is carry a gun around.
He ran to the door of the elevator and spread his hands in the air, pointing the gun at the guy. The girl became terrified, putting her hands in the air.
"Who are you?" the guy asked with a frown.
"You don’t need to know, I want something from you, and I am not leaving without it. You too!" he yelled, diverting the gun to the girl who looked down with her legs wobbling.
"What do you want? Just say it, just don’t shoot me." the guy said, glaring at him.
Lucas moved closer to him and used his gun to massage his face before pointing it at his chest.
"I want you to give me your uniform and you give her your uniform." Lucas said, staring at the girl, whose hand started shaking as she started undoing the button on her shirt.
"Don’t worry, you won’t go out naked. I will give you my clothes in exchange," Lucas assured. The company employees had a uniform they all had to wear, but Amber’s company was different. They didn’t have a uniform, but they did have a lab coat for protection.
The guy shot Lucas a hard glare, refusing to remove his clothes. Lucas pressed the gun on his head.
"Start taking them off, don’t waste my time." Lucas stated in an authoritative tone, and the guy took off his clothes, handing them to Lucas. He stood at the other edge of the elevator, hiding his bulge and the Calvin underpants he was putting on. The girl handed Amber her shirt, revealing her singlet that covered half of her boobs and the tiny shots she was putting on.
Lucas flipped the guy so he could face the other side of the elevator so Amber could put on her clothes. After a series of makeovers, Lucas hit the guy hard on his spinal cord and he fell on the floor. The girl started shivering as she bit her finger. The elevator flew open as Amber and Lucas walked out of the elevator and started walking down the hallway of the floor.
Amber sighted a room where an experiment was written in the front and adjusted the pin she was putting on that contained a spy camera.
"I will go check out what is going on in that room," she said, and looked around, but she didn’t see Lucas.
"Where has he gone without telling me?" She groaned and started walking heavily in the hallway when she saw him a few feet away entering a room and started running towards the room. She rested her head on the door to hear what they were saying inside, but she couldn’t hear anything, so she clutched the doorknob and ambled inside.
It was a large room where the perfume was being sealed and labeled. The place was extremely cold. All the employees were assisting all the machines in one way or another. She spotted Lucas being yelled at by an old man who was wearing a black suit, so she concluded that he wasn’t an ordinary employee.
"How can you barge into this room when you are not supposed to be here? Get out of this room!!" the old man said, pointing at the door. Lucas gulped, scanning the room when his gaze met with Amber’s.
"Go!" he mouthed, gesturing at her. Amber narrowed her eyes at him and shook her head negatively.
"He doesn’t even have any information to share." another employee gossiped.
"Who is that girl? Are you in this department?" The old man asked and walked over to Amber. He gazed at the name tag on her chest and flipped it, staring at the department she was in.
"You belong to the testing department! Go there!" the old man yelled. Amber screwed up her face. The old man was nagging too much and she was already tired of him. She blinked her eyes at Lucas and he walked over to her. They both strolled out of the room.
"This room is not useful; they are just packaging the perfume, but I got it all on camera. Let’s look for our department; those places are useful," she said.
"Give me a camera so I can record something. I am in the most important department." he said, extending his hand to her, and she removed the pin from her chest and placed it on his hand. He held her hand firmly, trying not to let go, as he felt a spark in their hands.
She hit him on the chest, and they both scattered and ran in opposite directions.
Lily cooked food and placed it on the table close to Mason’s bed, and dropped a sticky note next to it before walking out.
Mason got up from his bed and clutched his head. His head was spinning, and it felt like he had taken alcohol. He rose from the bed and nearly stumbled over the table when he saw the food and the sticky note. He grabbed the note and brushed his hand through his hair.
"Ouch!" he yelled, touching the injury. He gazed at his hand and saw ink in his hand. He started having an adrenaline rush. His blood was boiling. He remembered being hit on the head by Lily. He read the sticky note: "I am sorry for hitting you on the head. I thought it was a thief. You shouldn’t have hid behind the curtain." she said. He squeezed the note because she was apologizing and still sounded rude.
"Who does she think she is? I have to tell her before staying somewhere in my house." He thought and pushed the food on the floor and took off his shirt.
"My phone." he muttered to himself and brushed his hand on the quilt, looking for his phone. He stomped out of his room and ran down the stairs. He sighted his phone on the floor and grasped it. He had a lot of missed calls from his employees and his spies. It made him even angrier. He glanced at the time. It was 5:00 pm.
"Lily!!" he yelled at the top of his lungs, looking up at the stairs. "Lily!!" he yelled. She started walking down the stairs, avoiding his gaze. He didn’t want to hurt her, but she had crossed the line. He noticed that she was wearing a seductive short dress and had his Mastercard in the other hand.
"What are you doing with my card?" he asked rudely.
"I am going out to get a few things. I talked to you about it yesterday, remember." she said, still avoiding his gaze. He moved closer to her and gazed into her eyes. He could see the fear in her eyes, but he didn’t care. The anger in his mind had taken over. He took a deep breath, trying his best not to hurt her.
"Can’t you see I am trying to ignore you? I know I agree for us to act lovey-dovey in front of other people, but we don’t have to pretend when we are alone!" he yelled.
"I know, but I am not pretending. I am giving this relationship my all. I really love you. You just have to open your heart to me and accept me. We are married!" She exclaimed, with her eyes fixed on him, a smile curved across his face.
"I can’t believe you have the guts to talk back to me. This marriage was never supposed to happen. I want you to stay away from me, and never talk to me unless it’s something important. Don’t think I have forgiven you for hitting me on the head." He ranted, glaring at her.
"I didn’t hit you on purpose," she protested, with her lips trembling.
"I know. That’s why I am telling you to keep your distance unless you want to get sent to the mental asylum." Mason threatened, her eyes widened as she watched him walking away, and she burst into tears. Mason halted on the stairs as he heard her sobs. He didn’t want to hurt her, but he didn’t want her either. The marriage was the biggest mistake of his life.
"You ruined my life. Just go and die!" he yelled and started walking up the stairs. She fell to the ground and continued crying. Mason entered his room and shut the door, dialing the number of his spy. Lily got up from the floor and wiped the tears off her face with the back of her palm. She dashed into her room and stood in front of the mirror.
She opened a can of medicine and poured a few tablets into her hand and poured them into her mouth. With tears streaming down her pale cheeks, she grabbed the can and poured the remaining medicine into her mouth and started weeping as she chewed the bitter pill.
Xavier started packing his belongings into the trunk of his car with his father, who was assisting him along with other employees.
"Are you sure it’s your dream to explore the world, or do you just want to use it as an excuse to look for your long-lost lover?" his father teased.
"I am going to explore the cities and countries." Xavier beamed, taking a black camera from one of the maids. He smiled and started taking pictures of his father without his permission.
"Stop it, son," his dad complained, putting his hand in the way.
"I am testing my camera, and this will be a good way to remember the day I started my journey." Xavier said and pulled his father closer to him taking selfies with him.
"That’s enough, son," he heard his mother’s voice as she walked over to him with a gift box. He took it from her, glancing at it. "What’s in here, mom?" he inquired, shaking the box close to his ear.
"You have to open it to find out," she replied. He started untying the ribbon.
"Stop! Don’t open it here," she said.
"Why not? I am curious." he whined. She took it from him and put it in the trunk. Xavier hugged his parents and got into the car, and waved them goodbye. He stepped on the gas and drove off.
"I am coming for you Amber, hang in there, I hope you are not married." he thought, increasing the speed of his car as he stared at the map navigator.
