Chapter 40:- South River city [II], Eastern Ocean Dragon Palace

Seeing the assassin leader not speaking, David sighed in depression. He has tried to talk with the captain many times in the past but he always remained quiet and cold toward David. "You never change. Always cold as ever. Tell me the secret code and I shall hand you the secret item."

[The darker the night, the brighter the stars]

"By the way, why does your voice sound so heavy and different." David asked with a bit of suspicion in his tone. From the corner of his eyes, he signaled all the black gold guards to be prepared to attack.

"I can change my voice." William said in a high-pitched tone.

David glanced at the black gold guard who was standing behind William in caution. Seeing David nodding his head, the black gold guard stepped back.

"Bring the item."

Hearing this William secretly sighed in relief. He was ready to use Shadow teleportation anytime and escape if his identity was found.

There were two reasons why David or anyone did not doubt William. In David's entire life, the assassin leader was the only person he had seen who could use instant teleportation. In David and his guard's opinion, the chances of another person learning or having the skill instant teleportation are close to less than 0.0001%.

And the second reason was that only the assassins of David's group knew about the secret code. It was actually not impossible for an assassin to learn to change his voice. Because of all these reasons, David did not have any suspicion in his heart.

"Why don't you join me for a glass of wine or maybe we can have dinner together? We have been working together for so long." David and the assassin leader have met on several occasions. On most of those occasions, the assassin leader gave David lots of royal gold for the information he provided to the assassin's group. So David had a good impression of the Assassin leader and if possible he wanted to get to know his business partner.

"No, thank you. I was ordered to head back to the headquarters as soon as I get the secret item. Also, the plan of killing adventurer parties and merchants will be stopped for a while as more and more adventurers are getting aware of this. We will change our targets for now."

"Alright. Let me know if you need any more information about the adventurer group." The guild master of the South River city worked with David to provide them with information on adventurers.

A moment later, a gold rank guard came carrying a large leather bag on his right shoulder. Inside the leather bag, there was a person who was knocked unconscious. The person was stuffed inside the leather bag.

William raised his eyes brow and glanced at David. David knew what he wanted to ask. He gave a helpless and confused smile as well and replied. "I swear, I also had the exact same reaction when I saw what exactly was this secret item."

'Just who is this person?' William grabbed the big leather bag and put it on his shoulder. While doing so, he touched the body of the unconscious person inside the leather bag.

'It's a girl.

Receiving the reward means David wasn't playing any games. This girl was the secret item that the assassins were told to bring back.

William gave one last nod to David before teleporting outside the Manor. In the darkness of the night, William's figure vanished from the guard's sight. "He has left."

"Good. Now that we have completed our part, we can finally relax for a while." David was afraid that his crimes will be found by the soldiers or the people, so this entire time he was extremely secretive about the whole thing. Not only that if in case something did go out of his hand, but he had also prepared a ship to flee the Sithen Empire.

After teleporting out of David's Manor, William used Shadow Teleportation and teleported to the room that he had booked before.

Rosie nearly jumped out in fright seeing a person jumping out of the shadow. "William, fortunately, you returned. Did you get the secret item?" Rosie sighed in relief as she was very nervous the entire time.

"Yes, but the secret item is not an item it's a person. A female to be exact." Will put the large leather bag on the bed.

"What?"

"You can open the leather bag." Rosie hurriedly opened the leather bag. The face of the kidnapped person finally was revealed to them.

"It's a girl. And she looks so young." The girl looked like she was only around 15 to 16 years old.

Both Rosie and William's attention was caught by the draconic wings sprouting from her back. "She is a water dragon."

"Dragon? I thought dragons lived near the mainland. What she is doing here? And Why she was kidnapped?" William had so many questions in his mind.

"She is opening her eyes." The girl frowned for a second before opening her eyes. She first looked around as she got up. A few seconds later, she realized that she was in an unfamiliar place.

The female dragon quickly got up and looked at Rosie and William. "Who are you? And why did you kidnap me?" The girl asked while she observed the place.

"We did not kidnap you. It's rather the opposite. We saved you from the group that was involved in bringing you here." Rosie quickly explained as she did not want a misunderstanding.

The young girl narrowed her eyes as she fully did not trust Rosie's words. "If you're telling the truth then what do you have to say about the man standing behind you."

Sigh!

Rosie looked back. "Can you remove these assassin clothes?" With a flick of his hand, William appeared in his real form. His natural silver white long hair appeared. Seeing William in his real form, the dragon girl was stunned for a moment. Even though she won't say it out loud, this man who had dressed as an assassin was undoubtfully the best-looking man she had ever seen in her life.

However just because William looked otherworldly handsome did not mean she was going to start believing him. "Where have you bought me? If you release me now, then I promise that my parents will be you unharmed."

Sigh!

"Girl how many times do I have to tell you that we are the ones who saved you from the bad guys."

"Hmph! Do you think I am stupid? This man was clearly dressed in assassin clothes and you're telling me to believe that you guys didn't kidnap me." At this point, the girl looked angry.

"Are you a princess of some noble house or what?" William asked.

The girl with long black hair froze hearing William's question. "You kidnapped me here and you're telling me that you don't know my identity." At this point, the girl looked like a fierce lioness that was going to jump and bit William to death.

"Why don't you calm down first? If we had kidnapped you, then you would have found yourself tied in a chair or maybe locked in a dungeon." The girl also realized what Rosie said was true. She calmed down a little.

"Why don't I explain everything first?"

After a whole 10 minutes of explanation, the princess was now sitting next to Rosie. Rosie softly patted her back. In this situation, her calm personality was the best solution.

"So can you please tell us about your identity? We can help you return home." Rosie asked as she gently stroked the girl's black hair.

"I am the princess of Eastern Ocean Dragon palace."

Will suddenly felt like he has been struck by lightning. How can he not know about the Eastern Ocean Dragon Palace? Located in the Eastern part of the Sithen Empire, near the mainland, a large part ocean near and the land was ruled by 4 water dragon palaces. Each dragon palace was strong as the Sithen Empire. Being water dragons, the dragons lived in the ocean and also operated on the mainland.

The Sithen Empire did not have any close ties with the dragon palaces. Even though the Succubus queen tried to forge alliances, the dragon palaces stayed neutral, refusing any alliance nor showing any hostility. This has been the same way for more than 500 years now.

"I see." In fact, Rosie already had expected the girl to be from that kingdom. The dragons were divided into clans based on their natures. There were five main dragon clans, the metal dragon, water dragon, fire dragon, wood dragon, and earth dragon. The metal and the water dragon were considered the strongest and had the biggest number.

Unlike other dragon clans, the water dragon clan was further divided into 4 palaces. The eastern ocean dragon palace, the southern ocean dragon palace, the western ocean dragon, and the northern ocean dragon palace.

Living under the sea has allowed the 4 dragon palaces to quickly become strong as the dragon palaces did not have to fight for resources. The ocean had a vast amount of resources.

The Eastern ocean dragon palace was the strongest dragon palace among the 4 dragon palaces. Even an idiot can see that whoever had the nuts to kidnap the princess of the Eastern ocean dragon palace had wanted to start a conflict with the Sithen Empire. After all, the princess of the Eastern ocean dragon palace was their soft spot. If anyone kidnaps their princess, they won't sit still.

A dragon was born superior to any other race in the whole world. Even a level 0 dragon child, has more strength than a level 50 adventurer. They had more mana than a level 50 mage. Being a dragon, not only their lifespan was comparable to Incubus King and Succubus queen. Dragons had insane stamina, health, and defense. Dragons always have been placed at the very top of the food chain.

"Just how did you get kidnapped anyway?"
