Chapter-86 Gods Trial

Lennox surged towards the window, his heart racing like a stampede, desperate to catch a glimpse of Alice, only to find her sprawled on te ground below, like a lifeless puppet. Shock and terror seized him in their merciless grip, a vice squeezing his chest. Death he never saw someone dying from suicide before.

His limbs, his breaths shallow and ragged as he sank back on the wall, He felt had he been more vigilant, more aware he could he have stop her from this tragic fate? The question gnawed at his frayed nerves.

Little did he realize, even of he had possessed the power to intervene, it mightn't have stopped her as darkness had already ensnared Alice's soul and it would have led her down this grim path regardless. The agony of existence without her son, that haunted her every waking moment, had driven her to the precipice of madness and vengeance, where reason held no sway over.

As Lennox grappled with the weight of his own impotence, a sudden intrusion shattered the suffocating silence. "Kira, come quick!" The voice, familiar yet tinged with urgency. Alexei and Kira appeared before him, their faces etched with concern as Kira knelt beside him, her gentle touch checking to see if he's hurt.

"What wrong with you, Twinkel? You appear as though you've seen a ghost" Kira murmured.

With trembling hands, Lennox gestured towards the window. Confusion clouded Kira's brow as she followed his gaze, walking toward the window she looked around but saw nothing.

"I see nothing, Lennox. What troubles you so?" Kira's voice was tinged with uncertainty.

Lennox's was shocked as he quickly got up to check what Kira said was true but to his surprise Alice wasn't there on the ground below his heart thundering in his ears as he grappled with the unsettling notion of her miraculous survival. Relief, washed over him as he was happy she was alive no one should have to kill themselves because of someone else doing but there a possibility with her survival she will go back to killing.

"I saw her fall, Kira, I saw her lifeless corpse on the ground. Yet now, she is nowhere to be found," he uttered, his voice laden with disbelief.

Kira's eyes widened in disbelief. "How can this be?," she exclaimed.

"Lets go shouldn't gone that far "Lennox said.

Without hesitation, Lennox urged them onward, in the alleyway they stumbled upon the some signs of Alice's survival as her a lot of her blood left a trial.

On there way Kira explained how Evelyn had been drain of Nexus energy and had been hospitalized. The Academy provided her with Nexus resources to aid her recovery. Eventually, they reached a cemetery.

They instantly understood why, slowly approaching the end of the trail. There lay Alice, next to a weathered tombstone, her hand raised as if holding something in the air, engaged in conversation and laughter.

Lennox halted Kira and Alexei's advance, wanting to comprehend the situation. He realized Alice urgently needed medical attention; her body was bent and bleeding, possibly life-threatening. As he pondered this, a black, slightly golden light descended from the sky, enveloping Alice.

She was gently lifted into the air, a bright smile adorning her face as she looked at them. Within the light, they discerned a small figure Alice's son, whom they instantly recognized, cradled in her arms.

Lennox and the others were at a loss for words and actions as they watched Alice and her son vanish into the sky with the light, disappearing beyond the clouds.

Suddenly, a ripple in the air announced the arrival of three individuals. The first was a tall, imposing man with a commanding presence, clad in a coat adorned with intricate clockwork patterns that faintly glowed with energy. He wielded a lance, its movements seemingly halting the air around it. The second was a towering figure, muscular and armored, standing at an impressive height of 7 feet. He carried a large hammer on his back, emitting pulses of energy as he moved.

Lastly, a petite woman with a pixie-like appearance stood at just 5 feet tall. Her shimmering silver hair cascaded around her, and she held a silver device that seemed to move too quickly for them to follow. Each bore a badge symbolizing a horse's tail plant with multiple markings. Lennox whispered to Kira, seeking answers. "They're from the Division of Time, known as Flora. They protect the Academy, realms, and undertake specific missions for each realm," Kira explained in a hushed tone.

When Kira halted, all three members of Flora turned to face them. Instantly, an intense pressure descended upon Lennox and Kira, but it quickly dissipated. Xander, the captain of the division, approached with a smile. "Friends, can you enlighten us about what just occurred?" he inquired.

Lennox and Kira, fearing repercussions if they withheld information, recounted the events. In turn, they were informed that when such celestial lights appeared, it signified a deity choosing individuals for multiple trials to determine their successor. This revelation left them stunned, as they had been unaware of people being selected after the Division of Time's departure.

With a collective sigh of relief, they realized the Flora members harbored no ill intentions toward them. Afterward, they proceeded to the hospital to check on Detective Evelyn. Upon arrival, they were surprised to find her awake. Although it typically took days to recover from Nexus energy depletion, the Nexus resources might have expedited her awakening.

After explaining Alice's fate, Evelyn expressed anger toward Alice but acknowledged the need to move forward. She resolved to let go of her desire for revenge, recognizing the futility in holding onto it.

As they departed for the academy, Evelyn shared her intention to return one day, realizing the necessity of becoming stronger, especially after her recent ordeal.
