Death Has Come (5/7)

The undead rushed and lunged at the goblins with supernatural strength and speed. Despite having swords and weapons they found it easier to simply rip their heads off with their crazy grip strength.

"Death's Blessing" I activated my sub-ability and transfered my mana to the undead who wielded the Tiger Sabers. His change quickly happened and dark armor and mist surrounded him. His speed and strength increased twofold and he started quickly going after what seemed to be leaders of the tribe. With the leaders organizing the goblins gone, they fell into a state of disarray and failed to utilize their numbers as each and every goblin fell victim.

Obviously, the dark shrouded undead was the most superior in this battle, going beyond his normal capabilities.

Soon the battle came to an end, I utilized Mana Heritage to heal any damaged undead and regrouped them around me.

"Undead Summoning, Awaken."

Soon, every body in the battlefield rose up, their ripped heads re-attatching, standing straight and looking at me, the person they would serve for eternity, for orders.

"All of you regroup together with the other undead, grab any weapons or armor you have in your huts and equip them."

Soon almost all goblins entered their huts and came out with primitive equipment and weapons. It was rather... disappointing but nevertheless they would be stronger than normal so it was okay.

"Nice, you're stronger too!"

"Thanks for your help, Luciel." Sanguis said while smiling cutely.

"Let's head back, that's enough quests for the day."

"Sure."

-------

As we teleported back to Ranizgard, we passed by the Slayer Headquarters and received 3 Silvers for our completed quests and a rank-up from Grunt to Warrior level.

As we were about to return to the inn on our carriage, another carriage, this one with gold and brown linings along with very powerful horses and surrounded by 50 soldiers with elite armor intercepted us. Needless to say, it was a bit odd as I've never had any problems with people.

But I still decided to stay around and see what's up instead of ravaging my way through.

"In the name of Duke William, stop, you criminal!"

"Criminal?" I asked as I got out of the carriage to confront my interceptors together with Sanguis.

"Yes! That carriage clearly belongs to Sir Nathan who is best friends with the Duke!" said a soldier with his helmet off, he seemed to be an officer.

"I am sorry but this carriage was gained by me after some foolish mercenaries tried to ambush and take my belongings... and they also seeked to harm my daughter here." I explained, I called Sanguis my daughter because there was no need to explain to these people who she was, besides, I had already formed a bond with her, like an adoptive father.

"Sir Nathan may be a mercenary but he's no bandit-"

"That's enough," said the man who came out of the golden carriage.

"Arguing with such criminals will only rot our minds, guards, intercept them, and kill the undead if they try to retaliate." the man with blonde hair ordered. He had a moustache and a few streaks of grey due to old age.

"*Sigh* You know I REALLY didn't want to do this. But hey, I guess 50 elite soldiers for me." I said as the guards charged.

"Kill them all, don't destroy the armor." Quickly, the undead rushed out, first came those with daggers in hand which slit the throats and joints of the soldiers, than came the heavy guards who handled the brunt of the attack and next the goblins, using their quick agility and short daggers jumped from head to head slitting throats and stabbing eyes. With only 10 Undead losses, the Elite soldiers went down.

"Undead Summoning, Awaken."

The 50 Elite soldiers all awakened again and stood up, gripping their weapons.

"Copy the other Undead and stick in formation."

The Elite soldiers formed a well organized line with shields at the start and spears behind, with archers on the back and swordsmen in the middle. They really were Elite.

"Y-You monster! What is this heresy?!"

"It's simply your death, not heresy. Kill him and make sure you don't accidentally eat any money pouches." The previous Elite soldiers at his absolute command were now undead beasts that rushed and killed him swiftly.

Unfortunately, again, the horses were dead from the overwhelming clash. I raised them too, and like before and unlike the blue fire the first horses had, these ones had yellow flames and seemed much more menacing. Possibly due to being a better breed of horses.

"Well then, let's take a look at this fancy carriage."

I entered inside the carriage which was decorated rather luxuriously with striking gold colors all around. Next to a leather seat I found 3 pouches. Which I assumed was money.

I opened the three pouches and what revealed itself were gold coins. A lot of gold coins. I took the three pouches and commanded the horses to follow my carriage, as I hopped back inside the black one with Sanguis.

And now I ended up with an extra carriage. The street was already barren from any civilians, the moment the fighting started they all ran away, fights between nobles were no rare thing and if one wasn't quick enough to run away you'd end up being an accidental casualty which would be paid no mind.

And so I left the blood stained stone road and traveled back to the inn.

As we entered I now also had 10 golden armored bodyguards now following me in addition to the 5 already stationed at my room.

"A dinner please."

"Right away sir." The receptionist said, compared to yesterday she seemed much more attentive and respectful.

We finished dinner, this time Sanguis took it easy and only drank 1 beer which only left her a little bit out of character and not completely drunk.

------

**Morning**

We both woke up, cleaned ourselves and changed clothes. This time I wore the blood red hoodie and black sweatpants along with the boots while Sanguis wore her shorts and golden shirt.

We repeated the same process as yesterday, however we did not get any genocide quests so not many additions were made except 10 Wood Wolves which had no real value other than their fangs, so I made them into undead, considering of making a future undead beast legion.

We ranked up to Knight and received 15 Silver, however we didn't level up.

"Hey hey, Luciel, don't you think it's time I learn how to fight?"

"Hm? I guess it would be... we can't always depend on the undead. However you need a weapon, Any preference?"

"I would really like a Scythe and a Halberd, I think those fit me best!"

"Sure, I'll buy you a Scythe and a Halberd tomorrow morning, now let's head inside." I told her as I walked into the inn, however as I was about to climb the stairs, the receptionist quickly arrived in front of me.

"Excuse me, sir, there is a letter for you." she said as she handed me a letter and gave me a meaningful glance with her beautiful emerald eyes when she read the name of the sender. It seemed as if she wanted to say 'Be careful of these people, I hope it goes well.'

"Thank you, let's head to our room Sanguis." I said while giving a short nod to the receptionist.

As we entered our room, with the 10 Elite Undead guarding the door outside, I opened the letter and read it.

'From The Governer of Ranizgard City, Archduke Bathory'

'I've heard many of your great feats, Mr.Luciel, like how you have an undead army at your disposal, or of how you eradicated a bandit organization in the Sand Tsunami deserts. Or how you took care of a bunch of bandits claiming to be Mercenaries. It piques my and many others' interest alike and we'd love to make friendly relations with you. You are hereby invited to the yearly Noble Gathering party on my behalf, you may also take your companion with you if you wish, however please refrain from bringing too much Undead with you. Please come at the Governor House by evening.

With Respect, Archduke Bathory.'

"They want something from me, and it's clearly not friendly relations."

"Are we going Luciel?"

"Well, if we don't go, I'm afraid they might target you or even try and make a plan to get what they want. So we should go, let's see what they want."

"Okay! I wanted to use that fancy long black dress for a special occassion! Besides, no-one can hurt us."

"That is true. No matter what, I'll keep you safe."

"Now then, let's go to sleep, I'm excited!" Sanguis smiled cutely as she laid on the bed. I also laid on the floor and blowed the candles off.
