Take his soul

Slowly the days passed and the news of the death of Bryan Whyte was forgotten by many except a few who were directly related to the deceased or worked with him or the cops who were responsible for finding out who was the killer behind his death.

Meanwhile, inside a certain mansion in the heart of Ariz City, Natasha was still sound asleep even after the sun had risen above the horizon. The thick curtains helped to prevent the rays of the sun from spilling inside and waking her from her deep slumber.

It was noon when she opened her eyes and a yawn escaped her lips. Her bright eyes searched the room for a certain figure that was used to stalking her while she slept but he was nowhere to be seen. Waking from the bed, she dragged her feet to the bathroom for a bath.

Natasha was dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans pants and a yellow blouse, she had Sneakers on her feet and she stepped out of the walk-in closet. Her hair was still slightly damp which left the back of her blouse wet.

She headed for the dressing table and picked up the hair dryer to dry her hair. Shortly later, her hair was all dry, she stood up and headed down the stairs. The mansion was empty with not a single to be seen beside hers. Even the maid was not in the house. She waited for some time, watching TV shows that she was fond of while away time. Hours passed by painfully slowly and she found herself lying on the couch with her eyes closed but not asleep.

Her stomach grumbled asking to be fed and she realized that she was yet to have her meal. She made her way to the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator she found some soup and took it to warm in the oven.

Sitting alone at the island counter of the kitchen she started to drink the soup when he appeared behind her.

Natasha nearly spat the soup out of her mouth at the sudden appearance of Reaper. "Would you stop doing that!" she said after swallowing the soup that was in her mouth. "Where have you been?" She asked. Looking at the form he was in, it was obvious what he was up and doing.

"I had work to do." He replied and changed to his human form still clad in black. He walked over to the other end of the counter and sat there looking at her without saying a word which made her feel awkward and the movement of the holding soon became stiff and robotic.

His gaze that lingered on her moved from being just disturbing to piercing hot until she could no longer ignore his gaze. "You can stop looking at me like that you know," she said raising her head to meet his gaze. Somehow she thought that his eyes had become even brighter and much more piercing than there was the first time she had seen them.

Clearing her throat she thought of something to say but could not think of anything making sense to say. "You are making me uncomfortable." She complained.

Reaper gave her a nod but did not stop looking at her. And the silence was crawling on her, she was losing her appetite to eat. "I want to show you something." He finally spoke and Natasha raised a brow in askance. He stretched out his hand to her and she took it.

The next place that she found herself was in a dark alley, dead bodies lay there with blood everywhere and some body parts dismembered. Natasha shuddered at the sight in front of her. She could not even imagine what could have happened to them for them to have died in such a miserable state or who was responsible for that.

From the looks of it, they were just killed recently, because the blood on the ground was still fresh and some of them were yet to take their last breath. Looking around the place, she saw something that looked like a shadow running in the opposite direction, it wasn't just one but many running so they wouldn't be caught by the two people who had just come to the scene.

The people lying on the ground looked like gangsters. It was not hard to guess that whatever happened must have been a clash between gangs and the ones lying there were the unfortunate ones.

Natasha approached one of those who were still breathing and clutching their bleeding parts, trying to place her feet where there was less or no blood. There were three of them who had yet to die and they were dressed differently, which proved that they were indeed from different gangs but were left behind to die.

Stretching her hand to one of them to pick him up, Reaper spoke making her hand stop midway. "Take his soul," Reaper said. Natasha blinked thinking she did not hear him properly. She looked at him, wordlessly asking him to repeat what he had said. "Take his soul," Reaper repeated.

This time, she was sure that she heard him well enough to not question her hearing. "They are still alive," She said standing to her feet.

Reaper walked slowly to where she stood. He stared at her for a few seconds and then at the body right in front of her. He bends his body and runs his fingers through the man's chest. The sound of his skin tearing and bones cracking was heard and the man on the ground let out an inaudible scream and blood sputtered from his mouth. It looks like his vocal cord was damaged. His eyes went wide open and remained like that, turning lifeless until it was completely blank with no shine in them.

Natasha winced as if she was the one whose heart was pierced so mercilessly. She knew she was being hypocritical after she had personally killed someone in a gruesome way but she could not help it. The Way his finger went through the body made it look like the body was not made up of flesh and bones. It went through so easily that she wondered what it would feel like to have someone run their hands inside you in such a manner.

Reaper pulled his hand out of the man's chest, his black gloves seemed to have become darker with the blood on them. It drips from his fingers falling to the ground. The sound it made when it came in contact with the ground and mixed with the blood that was already there was like that of water droplets, falling and sending ripples around the surface of a water body.

Natasha could not believe where she was standing and what she was witnessing and doing. A few weeks ago she would have never imagined a place like this not even in a dream because imagination would have been far-fetched. All that she had ever imagined was a peaceful and colorful life with her family. But here she was right now with the Reaper standing in front of her and multiple dead bodies lying around her and some who were still struggling to survive.

Reaper stretched his hand one more time and a black ball appeared in his palm, he gave it to her and repeated his words once again, "Take his soul."
