Chapter 56 : Before the Competition

"...Kai…, Kai…, KAI…"

Coming out of his thoughts Kai looks up from staring at the ground and sees Kanna who is squatting in front of him.

"That's not appropriate Kanna."

He rises from the ground and offers Kanna a hand to also stand up from her position, who seems don't have a care about her surroundings, before looking around the field that starts getting filled with his classmates.

"Where is Toka?"

"He was still preparing his insect family for today's competition."

Like what Kanna said today is going to be the day where they are going to test their combat ability by competing with each other in a little tournament that the academy is going to hold and also this competition is going to become the last thing that the academy is going to test on this first semester exam on his second years learning in this academy.

After less than a month of really hard training with his father that without a doubt was an actual training monster like everyone said.

Because he was really being pushed to his limit during their training, fortunately all the hard work that he did and his father teaching really paid off.

He was able to score really well in all the practical exams that he did so far, even though it was not a long time the intensity and the effectiveness of his father's teaching was really suitable for him who's already had the basic foundation laid off.

Also because some of his ability was already suitable on some of the practical exams that the academy tested.

Either throwing kunai that became really easy with his eyes that were very adapted to locking on far away or moving targets or obstacle courses that he was able to get first places because of his speed and his nimbleness that none of his classmates can compete.

He was also very confident in his ability to clear all the theoretical parts of the exam without any problem.

The only problem that happened during the writing exam was someone who seemed to be secretly paying attention to him.

He was pretty sure that he was able to feel someone that seemed secretly paying attention to him when he was doing a writing exam.

Because of the recent power he bought from the system his instinct was able to feel the stared that someone secretly aimed at him.

Even though it was quite faint because the intent and the motive of someone who was watching him was only a little malicious that his power was not too intense warning him out of it.

But he had suspicions that it was his teacher who secretly paid attention to him because of the last year exam might place some suspicion on him when 2 of his deskmates were able to score more than what they were supposed to get during the exam.

But even though his teacher was secretly paying attention to him, he was able to pass that problem because it was impossible for the teacher to keep paying attention to him fully when the class was also filled with other students who also wanted to cheat during the exam.

Also the fact that he was able to know when that gap was open made it easier to help his friends during the writing exam, which is quite hard in some places for a 7 years old child to clear.

After waiting for a while talking to Kanna about today's competition and the preparation that she made, he finally saw Toka walking towards them.

"Toka are you done preparing your insect?"

"Yes."

He was speechless with the short answer that Toka still responded to him even though he wanted to talk about what his preparation was.

They already focused on their own training with their own family in the past a few weeks before the exam was started, including Kanna who also came from the same background as him civilians with a parent who's also a ninja and also her family was quite well off.

He was already guessing from the first time he met with Kanna was someone who comes from a well off family by the attitude that she had that was rare to have women in this era because most of the time many of them were quite reserved.

"Let's go gather with others, it looks like everyone has almost arrived."

They walked to where the rest of their classmates were gathered before waiting for their teacher who seemed to be still talking with another teacher that looked like going to help during the competition.

After everyone from his class had gathered and the teachers were already done with their discussion he finally saw his homeroom teacher was going up to the podium.
