Hayato could hardly believe his eyes, as he saw two people who technically shouldn't exist standing directly opposed to him.
While he knew that the Light had given him the ability to bend and stated that he would also have Raava with him, he never thought that the Avatar Spirits would be joining him as well, as he expected to be similar to Wan more than anything.
"A-Are you two real?" Hayato asked hesitantly, as he wasn't quite sure if the two beings before him were the actual spirits or if they were simply apparitions that would help him learn his bending.
Yangchen seemed to understand his question while Aang was confused, with her slightly rubbing his head as she responded.
"If you are asking if we are the actual Spirits of the Avatar that reside inside of you, then the answer would be yes. Each Avatar Spirit inside of you exist in an alternate world, one in which we either failed our duty and our world went into chaos or we died before we were originally supposed to, with the Spirit that collected us telling us that we would be aiding a new Avatar Cycle in a new world. I exist from a timeline where General Old Iron was not the only spirit that came, and I sacrificed myself to stop the Spirit World's invasion.
In Aang's he gave his life to stop Ozai, with him successfully stopping the Phoenix King by taking his bending, yet his body gave out on him at the end of the fight."
Yangchen then rubbed the boy's back while Hayato looked stunned at the fact that he actually had the complete totality of hundreds of Avatars inside of him.
"So, are you two going to be my teachers?" Hayato asked as he got up and bowed to the two of them, though Yangchen's arm stopped him.
"You are our successor. Of course, we are going to teach you. Due to your enhanced talent and strength, it shouldn't take you long to learn the intricacies of Air Bending, especially since it is the element that you resonate the most with. Would you like to begin now?' Yangchen asked.
Hayato thought about it and realized that there was not much else he could do, making him nod his head in agreement with her.
Yangchen then told him to follow her to the backyard. He was stunned to see multiple items that would help teach him the different elements, though Yangchen just chuckled.
"Did you think we wouldn't be prepared to teach you?" Yangchen teased, making Hayato roll his eyes.
However, her smile then vanished as she stood straight in front of Hayato, with her gaze sending a slight chill down the spines of both Aang and Hayato.
'It feels as if a heavy weight is weighing on my shoulders!! Is this some type of spiritual attack? Or is it simply her presence somehow being able to physically affect her surroundings.' Hayato thought while paying full attention to his teacher.
"Now, it's time that we properly begin.
Before we start focusing on the elements themselves, it is important that you understand not simply the basics of Airbending but also how you will differ from the natives of this world.
As you know, the people in this world use Chakra to fuel their abilities, molding their Chakra through the use of hand signs to send the Chakra down specific pathways in their bodies for them to be able to use.
In contrast, the people in our world possess Chi, which is also a pool of energy that we can send down certain pathways to use and then affect our environment through certain movements, which is called bending.
The Spirit who brought us here made it so that the energy we use would be a unique type of Chakra, one that didn't come from the Ten-Tails or Hagoromo. This makes the Otsutsuki Clan unable to absorb your Chakra. Yes, I know of your enemies.
So, if you so choose, you can teach your Bending Styles to individuals who wish to learn from you, though that decision is ultimately up to you.
Now that we have that out of the way let's focus on the first element that you'll be learning: Air." Yangchen said while Hayato listened intently, yet he leaned forward as he knew the next words he heard would be extremely important in his understanding of Air.
"Air is the element of Freedom.
The Air Nomads detached themselves from their worldly problems, concerns, and troubles, with them finding peace and freedom to solve their difficulties in life. They continuously sought spiritual enlightenment, meaning that every single child born into our culture would be benders. The first of our people were gifted the ability to use chi in this manner from the Lion Turtles, yet we didn't create the proper art of bending until we watched the movements of the Flying Bison.
The key to Airbending is flexibility and finding and following the path of least resistance. Airbending is notable for being almost purely defensive and the most dynamic of the four bending arts. Airbenders can overwhelm many opponents at once with large and powerful attacks that could prove fatal; however, due to the pacifist nature of the Air Nomads, such attacks are rarely used. Instead, an Airbender strives to use the opponents' energy against them. Due to our aforementioned spirituality, we often adapt to the situation surrounding us and employ negative jing, preferring evasive maneuvers as opposed to direct confrontation." Yangchen stated that she described both the intricate history and the mindset that people would use to Airbend.
"But, those who are the Avatar are given another burden, as they are unable to truly embark on the path of detachment. But, as long as your will to your problems still approaches the concept of being free and unconfined, you should have no issues.
Now, let's begin with you getting a first-hand look into the true power that an Airbender can wield." Yangchen said with a smile, though Hayato was somewhat excited to see the level he could reach in the future.
