Chapter 20

I used my full speed and tried to behead the jonin in front of me only for the one beside him to stop my attack with a Kunai causing me to fallback and land in front of them only to use my speed to get away from their sight.

"Enemy Attack!!" The 2 jonins from their group yelled alerting everyone to be prepared for an attack.

I then again made my presence known by sending out lightning kunais towards the Jonins which they easily dodged giving away my position. The 2 jonins came at me, I parried one of them with my sword and as the other one was about to drive kunai through my skull, Shisui kicked his head with a great force sending him flying.

The one that I was dealing with, immediately decided to change his mind and then went to his comrade in order to protect him from Shiusi's incoming assault.

Now I am not going to let my target get away that easily so I went after him and as he parried one of Shiusi's attacks in order to save his comrade, I attacked him and manage to land an attack on his left side which left him bleeding.

This was also enough time for the one kicked away by Shisui to regain his composure and then threw a smoke bomb on the ground carrying away his bleeding comrade away.

We also retreated to create a good amount of distance between us and the enemy.

Till now, the battle has gone way better than I expected, there were in fact only 2 jonins in the group which I confirmed myself, so one point for the sensor in our group.

Secondly we managed to accomplish our goal for now, which was to separate the 2 Jonins from their group since the rest of their group will be fighting ours and if we fight there many of them will die due to being collateral damage.

The fact that one of them is now injured is just a bonus. Although the cut from my blade was shallow, it should still be enough to hinder his movements.

A fireball came at us from the smoke making us jump on a tree to dodge it, the fireball fit where we were standing before and it left a huge crater on the ground, the heat from it was no joke either.

Looks like our surprise attack worked but the battle will be tougher from now on.

Immediately as I thought that it felt as if my body was screaming at me to duck, which I did and managed to avoid dying at enemy's hands. However, his attack cut my face.

I now had a cut on the left top corner of my forehead which caused blood to slide down into my eye, forcing me to close it and the wound was burning. He must have been using fire chakra to coat his kunai.

I gritted my teeth trying to suppress this pain.

'I can't hold back in this fight.'

I immediately used the electricity in my body to increase my cognitive abilities and perception.

His movements became slow enough for me to dodge and counter them but the problem was the power behind his attacks. I can just barely match him in terms of speed but strength is a different matter altogether.

Because of this difference in our stats, I am slowly being pushed away. The same could be said for Shisui.

Not to mention it started to seem that they weren't ordinary Jonins. At least the person in front of me doesn't seem to be an ordinary Jonin.

Even after being injured he is able to fight at this level, he is from Iwa meaning that he specialises in Earth style yet he is so strong at Fire Style as well as well as he is incredibly strong in close combat.

"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu"

I countered with "Lightning style: Byakurai"

We cancelled each other's attack and he continued launching many Fire Style attacks whereas I either continued dodging them or cancelling them out like before. But I can't let this continue, Since it will take too much time for him to defeat me if we fight in close quarters, he has decided to use this strategy.

He wants to deplete my chakra and then when I am no longer able to fight at my full strength he will kill me.

A pretty good strategy against an opponent like myself and I have to say that it's working.

'Now how do I get out of this?'

I can't even retreat right now since Shisui would then have to fight both of them which will undoubtedly get him killed. I can't have him leave the battle with me either since then these 2 will go after the rest of our team members.

I can only hope that Shisui can defeat his opponent and then assist me with this guy.

I looked over to Shisui and saw that his opponent is only using Earth style to fight him. Meaning that if I were to fight his opponent, it will be pretty easy victory right?

'Fuck!!'

I stepped to my right to dodge a blazing kunai thrown at me and then put my arm to guard my face from the kick which sent me flying.

I flipped and made a perfect landing on the tree then released a huge burst of chakra from my feat and propelled myself back to the direction I came from and landed a punch on the bastard's face.

Using this opportunity, I pumped chakra into my legs and went towards the Jonin fighting Shisui.

Wait. You know what I am just gonna refer to them as Jonin #1 and Jonin #2 from now on.

I went after #2 and as soon as I got close enough to land a strike, I unfortunately had to back away to avoid the Kunais coming my way.

My sudden charge did cause a little distraction in #2's focus but Shisui wasn't able to leverage it since he too was surprised by this.

'Damn it'

This guy won't let me change my opponent, neither will he fight me properly in close range where I might have a chance.

He keeps launching ninjutsu and kunai or shurikens at me and when he finds an opportunity, he moves in to strike like his kick just now. He created an opening with the kunai and then landed the kick.

'What to do?'

I looked over to Shisui as he moved out from the cover of the tree and launched shurikens and kunai at #2 while running backwards or doing backflip and was creating a huge distance between each other and as he jumped backwards to the tree, I saw him looking at me with those eyes.

That expectant look from his eyes was as if he was telling me something.

'So he has come up with a plan huh? Let's see what he does'

I can't just go to him and ask what's the plan so I can only deduce his plan from the flow of the battle.

<Shisui's POV>

"Earth Style: Earth Dragon"

"Fire Style: Fireball"

The Earth dragon exploded into bits, I gathered the wind chakra in my hands rotating it at a high speed and then released it into the air, which made the pieces of the shattered Earth Dragon fly back to #2 but he just used 'Stone Wall' to protect him from this.

This is seriously getting annoying.

He is without a doubt, extremely skilled.

He won't look me in the eye and therefore won't fight me for a long time in close range. Also it is annoying that I decided to train in my wind nature rather lightning nature because back then it made sense to learn wind style in order to enhance my fire style ninjutsu but now I am regretting that decision.

Not to mention, I failed to utilise the one moment of distraction Shirou created. That was the only chance I had got since the start of this fight.

'Stop! Focus you can't get distracted'

Let's go over the situation, I have tried almost everything I can to defeat him and yet I have gotten nowhere.

My ability to put people in genjutsu without using the sharingan is not strong enough for an opponent of his level.

He is exceptional at Ninjutsu and above average at Taijutsu.

He only has Earth style as his chakra nature which isn't that surprising since that is the case with majority of Shinobis from Iwa.

Now let's go over to that battle.

Shirou is a close combat specialist and is incredibly fast for our age but that guy can keep up with him meaning that he should be an elite jonin rather than a normal one.

He has 2 Chakra natures of Earth and Fire and since he knows that using earth style against a lightning style user is suicide, he is avoiding it and fighting with his fire style and that too while maintaining his distance.

He is also making Shirou who has a lower amount of chakra than him participate in ninjutsu fight.

Shirou's plan is probably the best shot we have, if we find a way to change our opponents we can win this fight.

"Earth Style: Rock Thorn Launch Justu"

I hid behind a tree to get a cover from this attack.

I put both of my hands together and created the sign for the shadow clone Jutsu. I can't maintain this for very long and the clone is pretty week too but it's a gamble that I have to take now.

*puff*

The shadow clone appeared and went deeper into the forest away from the battle.

I then moved out from the cover of the tree and and launched many Shurikens and kunai at #2 almost emptying my pouch. I then did a back flip to jump up on the branch of the tree while looking at Shirou expectantly.

If he fails to understand my intentions, we will lose.

We are currently battling in a forest which has now turned into a clear piece of land because of all the destruction from our fight.

However, right now I am at a pretty good position.

I can see #2 at my 10 and shirou fighting with #1 at my 2 but very close to me.

I let #2 get closer to my position and as soon as he was in the desired range, before he could make any move, I pulled air into my lungs, made the tiger sign with my hands and then launched a compressed fireball straight at him still continuing to put my chakra into it so that the jutsu doesn't end.

#2 created the earth wall to protect himself from the incoming attack.

Understanding my plan, Shirou who was already very close to me, ran towards me with his opponent following behind him. He change his directions and ducked under my attack and ran towards #2.

Lightning flashed under his feet and his sword glowed in white hue as he made his way towards his new opponent whereas I continued my attack even when I saw #1 just a few meters from where I am with a scorching hot kunai in his hand and an ugly expression on his face.

'He was crying? #2 must have been very close to him huh? But I can't do anything for you now. I wish to protect my friend as well. I have already lost one of them because of my selfishness which is why I vowed that I will not fail to protect any of them ever again and never will I repeat that horrible thing again.'

'Don't worry. You won't have to see your loved one's death. We will make sure to kill you both here so you won't have to be sad over his death.' I said in my mind as I watched him getting swallowed by the flames.

The fireball was launched by my shadow clone from inside of the forest.

'Everything went according to my plan.'

<Shirou's POV>

'Well he came up with one hell of a plan.' I though as I stored my sword back into my wrist guard and

To be honest though the plan was really simple and he just used my strategy and it was nothing original so basically he cheated but I will still give him credit.

I am such a nice man. This world doesn't deserve me.

Well the fight is over and although we could have died pretty easily. This wasn't an enjoyable fight at all. Had he fought me at close range, it would have been fun and the result of the fight would have been fine to me even if I lost.

But he decided to fight me at a situation where I was bound to lose if it had continued that way and a fight with a predetermined winner isn't very exciting.

#1 is probably still alive right now so let's finish him first.

I looked over in that direction to see Shisui's sword dug into #1's burning body.

'Damn. At least let the fire put out or just let him burn to death.' I really can't understand whether this was nice or cruel was to send someone off.

"Hey Shisui!!" I called out and he looked at me.

"Nice plan. You really saved our asses but we need to go back to the group now. If those idiots encountered another enemy while we were busy with them then they would be in a lot of trouble."

"Yeah let's go" He said

And then we moved back towards the group but I can't help but think that he seem a little weird. I guess he isn't very good mentally right now but meh that will only increase his sharingan's power I guess.
