Kenshin walked through the familiar halls of the Leaf Village hospital, the sterile scent in the air. He found Shizune in one of the patient rooms, organizing supplies, and cleared his throat to get her attention.
She turned and gave a gentle smile. "Kenshin-kun, is everything alright?"
"I wanted to talk to you about something important," Kenshin began, his tone serious as he stepped forward. "It's about our Mangekyo Sharingan."
Shizune's expression shifted, a mixture of curiosity and concern appearing on her face. "What about it?"
Kenshin took a deep breath before speaking. "The Mangekyo Sharingan has its risks—using it too much leads to blindness. But there's a way to overcome that. It's called the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.
By transplanting the eyes of a close blood relative, someone with the same Sharingan, I can gain access to the Eternal Mangekyo. It won't have the same drawbacks as the regular version."
Shizune's eyes widened slightly. "What? How does that even work?"
"When Madara Uchiha awakened his mangekyo sharingan, so did his brother Izuna. And when Izuna died at the hands of the second Hokage, Madara transplanted Izuna's eyes in place of his own."
Kenshin explained, his tone calm. "By doing so, Madara realized that Izuna's residual chakra within his eyes fused with his own, cancelling out the damage caused by using the mangekyo sharingan.
My sister told me about this, and she learned of this from our father. Since we both possess the mangekyo sharingan now, it's best to do this as soon as possible, in order to fully utilize the power we possess."
Shizune hesitated for a moment, clearly weighing the gravity of what he was saying. "Are you sure this is safe? It won't cause any complications?"
"At best we'll have each other's abilities. Unless you mess up the transplant itself which I believe you won't. After all, a first class medical nin like you wouldn't have trouble with a simple eye transplant, right?"
After a long pause, Shizune nodded. "If both of you are sure, then I'll do it. I'll make the necessary arrangements. I'm busy tomorrow so come to the hospital the day after. In the morning."
Kenshin exhaled softly, relieved that Shizune had agreed without further questioning. "Thank you, Shizune-san."
She gave him a small smile. "Just make sure you and Akane are both prepared for this. It's not something to take lightly."
As Kenshin was about to leave, Shizune stopped him. "Wait, I have something to give you."
She handed him a small box that had the word 'seal' written on it. "These are standard soundproofing seals that people use in their bedrooms. I figured they'll be.. you know.. useful. Put one on each wall and one on the floor."
A faint blush appeared on both of their faces and there was an awkward silence between them for a moment, before Kenshin gratefully accepted the box and left.
'Finally, I'll be able to have sex again! I've been holding back for mom's sake.' Kenshin thought as he looked at the box while walking home.
As the scene shifted back to the present day, Kenshin and Akane were still laughing at Maki and Keita's bewildered expressions.
Maki crossed her arms, her brow furrowed in frustration. "Okay, okay, stop laughing and explain this properly. Are you really swapping eyes, or is this some kind of elaborate Uchiha prank?"
Akane wiped away a tear, her amusement still lingering in her eyes. "No prank, Maki. We're serious. It's something select members of the Uchiha clan can do. By swapping Mangekyo Sharingan with each other, we'll obtain the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan."
Keita blinked in disbelief. "Wait, so you're telling me that by swapping eyes, you'll... what, get even stronger?"
Kenshin, still smiling, nodded. "Pretty much. The Mangekyo Sharingan is dangerous. Every time a person uses it, it damages their eyesight. The only reason I was so careless with it is because the Uzumaki clan have powerful regenerative abilities, and my eye can restore injuries."
"But by transplanting the eyes of another Mangekyo Sharingan user, the residual chakra in the transplanted eyes and the receiver's chakra can fuse, bypassing the damaging effect." Akane added, explaining further.
Maki leaned back, processing the information. "That's… insane. You Uchiha people have crazy powers."
Akane grinned. "It's not a common thing. There's only one person in history that's been able to do this. It was Madara Uchiha. He took his brother's eyes. At least, that's what Dad told me."
Keita shook his head in amazement. "Man, this is crazy!"
Maki smiled faintly, the initial shock fading. "Just be careful, alright? I don't want to hear that one of you messed it up and is walking around blind."
Kenshin chuckled. "Don't worry, Shizune-san is handling the procedure. We'll be fine."
Keita then leaned forward, his curiosity piqued. "So, does this Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan thing come with any cool new abilities?"
Akane smirked. "Maybe, you'll just have to wait and see."
The conversation flowed easily after that, with Maki and Keita still wrapping their heads around the idea of an eye exchange, but accepting it with a sense of wonder.
The following morning came quickly. Kenshin and Akane sat side by side in the Leaf Village hospital, the familiar scent of disinfectant filling the air as Shizune and a small team of medical staff prepared for the procedure.
Both siblings were silent, their faces calm but with an undercurrent of anticipation between them.
Shizune approached with a clipboard in hand, her expression professional but kind. "Are you both ready?"
Kenshin nodded confidently, while Akane gave a determined smile. "Ready as ever, Shizune-san."
"Good," Shizune replied. "The procedure won't take too long, but you'll need roughly half a day to fully recover, and then we can remove the bandages so you can see again."
Akane took a deep breath. "Half a day? Not too bad."
"Personally I'd say it'll take a few days to fully recover but from what I've seen from your mother, that doesn't apply to you guys. You might recover even faster but I'll take them off after twelve hours just to be safe." Shizune added, her mind drifting to Kana's miraculous speed of recovery.
'Kana-san recovered from over seven years of accumulated damage in less than a week. They should be fine.' She thought, putting down the clipboard and preparing the anesthetic.
Kenshin smirked. "I've handled worse."
Shizune chuckled softly. "I'm sure you have. Now, let's begin."
As they were prepped for the surgery, Kenshin glanced at Akane one last time before they were sedated. "See you on the other side," he whispered, and Akane gave a slight nod in return, her eyes closing as they were both put under.
