Naruto Online: The Strongest Shinobi

Michael, living in a dystopian world devastated by nuclear warfare, discovers a new VRMMORPG game called 'Elemental Nations.' Excited by the opportunity to escape his harsh reality, he purchases the Tier 1 headset and prepares to embark on an adventure. In his cramped living space, surrounded by the remnants of his previous life, Michael contemplates the hardships he and his family endure. The scarcity of resources and the confined conditions serve as constant reminders of the post-apocalyptic world they inhabit. As Michael watches the game's trailer, he recognizes familiar elements from the anime series Naruto. His passion for the show in his previous world fuels his excitement to explore this virtual rendition of the Naruto universe. However, in this new world, anime is not as popular, with people favoring slice-of-life stories over war-torn narratives. Equipped with the VR gear, Michael eagerly enters the game, expecting to unleash his knowledge of the Naruto world to become a powerful shinobi. The game's mechanics limit the number of players who can join as shinobi from the five great villages, adding a sense of exclusivity and competition to the experience. With the promise of potentially earning money through the game, Michael sees an opportunity to contribute to his family's welfare. Unemployment and limited opportunities in the real world have left him longing for a chance to make a difference. As the game servers go online, Michael finds himself transported to a new location, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey within the virtual world of Elemental Nations. Little does he know that this adventure will hold secrets, challenges, and the potential for him to become the hero he aspires to be.

Chapter 42: The real world

Chapter 42: The real world

-Start of Volume 2-

"What???"

"Ah, so you didn't figure it out…right. I would log out now if I were you. I will talk to you more when you get stronger." The young child said as he disappeared from my view.

The second he finished that, I was brought into the Naruto world right where I was logged out of, but I immediately returned to the real world.

The liquor from the VR Full dive set drained, as I took off the oxygen mask and I got dried by the inner drier and left the pod.

Now, I looked down to see my shadow properly, and after observing it for a proper second I felt stunned.

What the hell…the shadow seemed to be sulking and depressed.

This is just like the gloomy shadow from shadow slave!

The shadow stared back at me for a second, and I could swear it felt awkward at me making such 'blatant' eye contact.

The shadow then awkwardly raised its hand and waved at me.

Slightly stunned, I waved back at the shadow.

"Wait what the hell?" I muttered in shock, as the Shadow pointed towards my exo suit and asked me to unzip it.

Weirdly, following the instructions of my own shadow, I unzipped the suit to see a familiar serpent tattoo coiled all around my body.

"What the fuck?!" I thought in shock as I opened the discussion portals regarding the game, I had been busy these past few days so I didn't even get to do any research.

But I was careful with what I was searching since I knew every single thing was monitored by the government..

That being said, no one talked about aspects being awakened…maybe this was being hidden by the guilds?

But I did learn quite a lot about casual aspects.

Apparently, no one had even awakened an Aspect Legacy among casual players, that was unique to me.

For D-rank aspects, there was only 1 boring aspect, decrease in chakra usage for their respective element.

For C-rank, they awakened an ability, like increase in speed for chakra minimal bursts.

No casual player even attempted a B-rank mission, since the ones with skills were probably still doing the missions.

Yet from the looks of the pattern forming, B-rank might get a proper abilities, A-rank 2, S rank 3, and Divine rank 3 and their Aspect Legacy, which is a whole other system.

Yet no one in the world even talked about awakening their Aspects in real life yet….

I tried to dive into my Soul, like the novel Shadow slave and I couldn't do it…what was going on!

Wait…that child should know!

I immediately tried to log in again, but this time all I saw was the real Naruto world.

'I will talk to you when you get stronger.'

Well I guess things are simple enough.

I looked down towards my shadow, and while it didn't move whatsoever I could tell it was really gloomy and depressed.

I squatted down to the shadow, which it mimicked.

"Are you the same as the one in the real world?" I whispered, barely audible to even myself to which the Shadow didn't reply, but for some reason I could tell its answer.

It was.

The shadow was the same one.

I wasn't going crazy.

"Shikomu! We need to go, Naido-sensei has summoned us!" Yuki called out to me, to which my head snapped in his direction.

"W.what?" He asked in confusion.

"Have you done your Personal Quest yet?" I asked him quickly.

"No?"

"How long until you max out all your stats for it?"

"I dumped all my EXP into the Sharingan like you said to, so I have a while for that. 100 for both Physique and Chakra." Yuki told me.

I nodded at him.

I needed to shift my focus to Yuki for a while.

If the Shadow Slave novel was an integral part of this world and it can even be brought into the real world, I need Yuki to be a Divine Aspect Holder.

If not, I am basically dead, I cannot imagine fighting some of those Aspects…

"Alright, let's move." I told him.

(Yuki POV)

"Alright, let's move." Shikomu told me

'What the hell is going on?' I couldn't help but think, as I looked around Shikomu.

The world around us was currently drenched in the shadows of the night, and they seemed to be infinitely darker surrounding him.

As if everything around him was in his control.

In his domain

As Shikomu and I moved, I couldn't help but feel as if I was standing in front of something…unreal.

Even though we were in a game, it made me feel weird to my core.

"Did you finish your personal quest?" I asked Shikomu while we moved.

"Yes." He said, as he accelerated his pace slightly and I struggled to keep up with him.

"And so, did you get a good aspect?" I probed while we continued our travel

"Well, I think so. But I guess it will depend on how others do as well." Shikomu replied.

"What do you mean?"

"I think I have gotten a good Aspect, but I don't know how strong it is compared to the other top players since we haven't met one yet."

Well that made sense I guess.

It didn't take long for us to reach Naido-sensei.

As soon as we both reached him, Naido sensei observed a second longer than he did to me and had a slight smile on his face.

He then took out what seemed to be a wooden bamboo bag which was used to transport some light cargo.

"The 2 tails Jinchuriki is inside this." Naido sensei said, as he patted the bamboo which instantly revealed some seals that surrounded the bag.

"Your new mission is simple. Along with me, and 4 other Jonin squads, we will be transporting this back to the village."

"When do we move?" Ayumi asked with a strange sense of anticipation.

"In about an hour. I will be sending you the formation we will be traveling in towards the village. Expect retaliation, this is no simple mission." Naido sensei said, however he seemed to only be speaking towards Shikomu, who wasn't really paying attention.

Then as per usual, Naido sensei walked to a corner where we could view him and sat like a buddhist monk who wanted to meditate.

It was like an NPC who had given a quest and then would wait nearby in case the players had any more questions.

Shikomu then turned towards Ayumi and spoke, "I need to speak to you in private."

"Sure, what is it about?" She questioned.

"Not here." He said, as he brought her away from where we originally gathered.

"Sensei." I called out as I walked towards Naido sensei.

"What is it my favorite disciple? You want to purchase more beads?" He asked with a happy smile as he took out tens of sets of monk beads he was always covered in.

"I just wanted to ask you if there is any way you could finally teach me better Jutsu? I feel like I am proficient enough in Chakra control.'

Naido sensei basically told me last time he wouldn't teach me anything until I had reached the advanced rank of Chakra control, and I hit that while using the Sharingan in my fight against the Hidden Cloud player.

He then turned towards me and smiled slightly before saying…

"Well, I know someone more capable to train an Uchiha." He taunted with a cheeky smile on his face.
