Matsuo, surveyed a pretty big city from a nearby city. How? With a portable telescope, even pirates had it. It's literally just a long tube with glass inside it that bends a little. Though they don't exist in the naruto world, or are really rare, Matsuo just couldn't find them on the open market. Got it from the system, he didn't feel like doing a five year journey so he bought it with money.
Fun fact, if you instead of a normal challenge put down 'Give the system an appropriate donation.', it'll ask for money instead of a god slaying quest. This would be reasonable if this were the world with a singular piece of the puzzle, where the easiest way to make money is steal from villages as pirates or do them bounty contracts as everyone else.
So when Matsuo makes tremendous amounts of money, he breaks the balance of this part of the system, he can quickly get any item he wants. Though he has to pay a 10x increase in price, but that instant dilivery no wasting of time in haggling makes it all worth it. Think about it, you lost your only weapon "System, help me! I need a {Insert weapon here}!" [Ding, pay up loser] "Ok system!" Then you kill you enemy with that sudden weapon purchase.
Though he just tried this out while on his way to the city, he was dissapointed in himself '-'Money is but the value we acossiate it with', that's my catchphrase when I talk about how I spend money without a second thought. Money is chained by the ones who produce it, the moment they go overboard they cause inflation, destroying its value.'
He stood up with mixed feelings 'The system goes with that value, but what is bought is constant in it's value. Some may think 'If there are a dozen new diamond mines found the price of a diamond will go down', in the market it is true. But in the normal world it stays with the same value, the value assigned to it by it's creation. How hard it is, how bendable it is, such things will never change in an instant. If taken care of properly, it will stay that way until no longer taken care of.'
Matsuo weirdly sighed into the uninhabited, unfriendly to humans, forest 'Also, at least even if there're millions of new diamonds, they won't be 0.00000000000000001% of the old price. They're litterally the hardest thing in my old world, they won't become useless because their artistic value dissapears.'
At that moment the cloaked figure dissapeared in a poof of smoke, yep, a shadow clone. A normal one for ease of use, and tricking the person that was watching. Also, fact; shadow clones can use the inventory.
Personally I say that he should suffer if he wants that, but no! He gets this op use the inventory for free! Back in my day you needed to slay at least ten demi-gods to get that kind of ability, fucking kids, let me guess system, what're you gonna give him next? A participation trophy?
[No.]
Anyways, the person who watched the shadow clone was a ninja the level of a genin, if you think of it in konoha standards. And Matsuo borderline had a panic attack from the system saying no all of the sudden 'Who the fuck talked with the system? It only shows automatic challenges on its own! Ugh, i'll think about it later. The shadow clone Abyss is sneaking into the Ao (Pronounced Ah Oh here) family's mansion, hopefully they'll have a lead.'
The broker's info had a picture on every head of the family, this one had a male head like most. The clone splashed some water on his face with a plastic water bottle, it cost a fortune of 793000 ryo.
"Cough, cough, cough" The guy coughed in a panic, Matsuo had some thoughts about this 'Seems like being woken up with cold water brings panic to the victim, good to know.' The clone took off his hood "You're awake, good."
"Who are you!?" In his panic he said, he was wet and had a cold sweat. He woke up a lot of people in the house, Matsuo didn't care, no one could kill him through his shadow clone. He pointed at the guy in his bed "Hey, you like money right."
"Yes." The guy said automatically to the obvious question "Great, get me in touch with the akatsuki and I'll give you 500000 ryo, deal?"
The guy, a bit overwhelmed by the situation, as he should. Couldn't really make a eligeble thought, and heard the thing he was after being offered "Y-yes, sure. I can do that, I've had dealings with them in the past."
The fact that they had dealings with them wasn't all that surprising, the akatsuki was pretty- no very popular among the rich. They were among us all this time, heh. I'm hilarious, aren't I?
[No.]
Oh, I should stop drinking the whisky during work. Where was that medicine again?
[On the cupboard.]
Thanks, system. Wait... God damn it, cough cough. The hero of our story, Matsuo had a nervous breakdown. He looked all around him in a panic 'Shit, shit, shit. I can't ignore this! My life is more important than some fucking Xenomorph!' Though he said that, the shadow clone was uneffected.
He ran like his life depended on it, The clone didn't feel like taking too much time on the guy so it said "Good, I'll come here in three days, in the evening. If you can get me in touch I'll give you your money." It then did the dissapearing act set up for the scientist, of course you need to hide the fact that everything is done by shadow clones.
An hour later you can see a real non shadow clone figure tired out from trying to find me, fuckin' loser "Hey system, can I sell you stuff?" There's the question I've been waiting for! Hurry up!
[Yes, normal sales have a 20% tax, requested items have a 10% tax rate.]
"What you're saying is that you're a fence for goods, right?" Matsuo said not letting the narator celebrate this, rude.
[Yes.]
"Then tell me what are these recommended items?" Matsuo said, progressing my path to whisky englightement.
[Proccessing...]
Whisky god damn it! al-co-hol! alcohol! Give me beer!
[Beer, whiskey, non-discript alcohol.]
Yes! 'So, make a brewery, right? I can do that, how do you make whiskey though?' System! I buy him a whiskey production book! Here! 237 coins!
[Whiskey production 101 has been gifted.]
'Thank you system, or person that gifted it to me.' If you want to thank me, get me whiskey! cough, cough, sorry dear reader, the medicine takes some time to work. I'll stop getting in the way of the story
Though Matsuo was scared about the systems recent random talking, he couldn't do shit. First he sold everything he wouldn't use, like his books of power. They were still pretty cost effective in a production cost to sale cost ratio, also known as the profit margin. It was some real paper plus ink, that's it. There are fuinjutsu friendly ink and paper, but you don't need it to make stuff with fuinjutsu.
'I'll start large scale whisky production after I get my xenomorph egg, just think of the profits.' Matsuo thought smartly, his ambition perfectly controlled.
'First get info on the city with the smallest military force, brokers can do that. I should get some more money, I've already spent more than half a billion ryo in this excursion. I'm almost going to become a filthy millionare, at least I got a few extra million before that happened.' Matsuo thought, not knowing the amount of money he was going to need to spend after he got that egg.
First he needed to know the city he was going to attack, this was easy, just find a hot single broker in your area and buy the info. It happened exactly the same way just in a different location and a different broker, money is nice, and people that want your money don't waste your time with worthless politics.
Brokers do good business, and Matsuo respects that. They have a hard, if you can't pay then we're not doing it policy. This also let's Matsuo not use two hours of his life haggling, he isn't short on money right now.
He asked for the city's name and a lot more details at a reasonable price of one-hundred thousand ryo, this was enough for negotiations. All he had to do was mix up the info so that it looked like they're hiding something, or there's a conspiracy of some kind. This is something he knew a lot about, framing people to get them in prison was something he did often in his old life.
He usually gave them charges of bieeg tax evasion, to make it believeable he also made it look like their boss was in on it too. Though normally they did do a lot of crime, but that didn't matter. They got in his way to becoming a billionare 'Those were the days. The thrill of scaming someone out of millions while not actually scaming them by making them misunderstand me in a favorable light, acting like a play boy to lower everyone's guard. The thrill of my bank acount's numbers going up and up.' Nostalga was welling up, making him cry one tear. Then he stopped himself 'No going back, not going back even if I could.'
... That's weird, normally they want to go home. Not that I'm complaining, won't lose my job for a while. Cheers! Glug, glug, glug.
'Actually, why do I always start to talk to myself in my mind?' I've been wondering that too.
[Habits die hard]
'True.' True.
Matsuo started to rearange the info, he made sure not to make any flaws. How? He made a mock version of it, paper is expensive, but to him its cheap 'Hah, a piece of paper is but five thousand ryo a piece, so about 50 bucks. Ryo is the same as yen, I think. Never really looked at the purchasing power of yen.' He would've, but he stopped while he was preparing to enter the market. Why he stopped shouldn't need to be answered, use your head.
Matsuo didn't have much to do in his breaks, but while he was walking around, looking for another broker for more indepth info to scramble. A house exploded to his right, weird. He didn't care that some people are still savable, he just had an idea.
'System, I sell the ruins of the house.' Wat.
[Denied, ownership not detected.]
Matsuo picked up some of the ruins, putting it into his inventory, he stole it. After trying to sell it to the system, it dissapeared and a nice 30000 ryo entered his inventory. Wow, didn't expect that to be possible.
Matsuo walked away and into an alleyway, to hide his shit eating grin 'Looks like this isn't going to be as detrimental to my financial aspects as I thought, it may even be profitable.'
