Chapter 33

Yuu didn't know any of this until when he woke up the next morning and overheard some of the civilians talking while having breakfast in disguise. Yuu was shocked by what he heard. He hadn't expected that his actions last night had resulted in him being nicknamed the ghost of Asaki. Either way it didn't matter to him anymore as his mission in the land of Waterfalls was almost done. This morning he had received news from Keiichi, who had spent his entire visit time investigating all the nobles in Asaki, which listed which nobles had been colluding with the village hidden in the land of Earth(Iwagakure) and after a few back and forth communications using shadow clones, it was decided that tonight would be the night to finish off the rest of the traitorous nobles as waiting any longer would allow for extra reinforcements to arrive which would make the mission that much harder.

That night, Yuu emerged from his room under the cover of darkness fully rested and ready to kill. He had assimilated the remaining shinobi abilities that had remained after last night's slaughter resulting in an increase of his chakra level to high elite jonin level while his physique broke through to low elite jonin level. This coupled with the powerful jutsus, knowledge and experience he acquired from his recent kills made him even more confident in completing his task. 

Yuu sped up in the direction of one of the seven nobles whose families he was meant to eradicate.

The next hour or so was filled with bloodshed and screams as the legendary ghost of Asaki tore through the seven noble clans 'Kiito, Aimi, Tumika, Lomiro, Oniishi, Uyeda and Tamaki. Due to Keiichi killing his enemies while under the invisibility of his genjutsu, he too was assumed to be the ghost of Asaki as no one could see him hence the prowess of the ghost of Asaki would become even more exaggerated the next day when people told stories of what happened.

Two hours before midnight, Yuu and Keiichi left the town of Asaki, their mission complete. In the morning the residents of Asaki would discover no survivors within the seven targeted clans.

Two kilometers away from Asaki, Yuu and Keiichi could be seen having a serious conversation.

"Are you sure about this Yuu?" asked Keiichi with concern.

"Yes" Yuu nodded solemnly "in order for me to grow stronger I must capitalise on the current strife in the hidden mist village which means that i can't go back to Konoha."

This was something Yuu had thought of and decided in the last few days. Even now he had heard news of the bloodline extermination war happening in the blood mist village and judging by the recent news, it would seem that the bloodline side of the war was winning hence Yuu needed to head over there before the conflict ended. His plans necessitated this.

"Very well i've already completed the preparations for your defection as instructed."

Yuu nodded. And with a few final words, the two departed, one heading back towards the hidden leaf village while the other headed towards the land of water where the hidden must village was located.

As soon as Yuu was quite a distance away, a few ninjas wearing masks quickly gathered in the exact spot where he and Keiichi had discussed his future plan.

"What do we do now F?" asked one of the masked shinobi.

"Based on the conversation we heard, it would seem that our target plans to defect the village." Said a male shinobi with an Eagle mask who judging by how the rest of the shinobi were looking at him, was the leader of the group.

"Should we head back to inform Danzo. This seems like too important information to delay informing him about." Suggested another masked ninja. The rest of the masked ninja too thought that their comrade had a point however F just shook his head in disagreement.

"No by the time we arrive in Konoha, the boy will be too far gone to catch. No, we will focus on completing the original task of capturing Yuu Sakamoto which should now be easier given that he no longer has the protecting of Keiichi Kurama. "

"Given that he is only a Genin we don't need everyone for this mission so L and M will head back to the root base to inform Danzo of recent events pertaining Yuu while the rest of us will pursue and capture the boy" commanded F.

That's right. All these masked shinobi were actually members of the hidden dark task force of the hidden leaf village known as Root, led by Danzo Shimura. The organization was created by Danzo and Hiruzen to carry out the dark missions unsuitable for ordinary shinobi/ Anbu. Missions that were too secretive to share with ordinary Anbu ninja. And now these ninjas had been sent by Danzo and Hiruzen to capture and retrieve Yuu Sakamoto.

And so the team of root shinobi split up with L and M heading back to the hidden Root main base in Konoha while the rest of the group left in pursuit of Yuu.

A few kilometers away from Asaki, Yuu could be seen travelling across the land of Fire towards the land of water at a constant medium pace. Yuu, who had been in the middle of his thoughts, suddenly sensed danger quickly leaping to the side allowing a stream of hot red fire to pass through his original position setting the trees ahead of him on fire.

Yuu, surprised by the sudden attack, looked around only to find around a dozen shinobi wearing masks surrounding him. What perplexed Yuu was the fact that despite his powerful sensory skills, he hadn't been able to detect even a single one of them hence the reason why he was surprised by the previous attack.

"Who are you?" Yuu asked the shinobi surrounding him. Despite being unable to sense their chakra levels, his instincts detected that they were quite powerful shinobi hence the desire to figure out who they were.

A man wearing an Eagle mask spoke "Yuu Sakamoto, by the order of the Hidden Leaf Village you are to return to the leaf village immediately"

Yuu was puzzled "What for?"

"We do not know. All we know are the orders we were given which was to bring you back to the village" answered F.

Yuu hearing the eagle masked man's tone couldn't help but think that something was wrong.

"If you are indeed from the Hidden Leaf village, why did you attack me?"

"That was simply a warning shot meant to attract your attention and halt your movement" explained F in a monotonous tone.
