Chapter 61 : Danzo vs Konan!!

Danzo's approach to entering the Hidden Rain Village was quite clever. He first summoned Baku.

After Baku slipped in through a corner, he used reverse summoning to successfully enter the Hidden Rain Village.

Danzo believed that the fewer people who knew about his alliance with Hanzo of the Salamander, the safer he would be.

There were many young and inexperienced ninjas in the world. If Hanzo's reputation as a demigod couldn't intimidate them, Danzo's situation would become very dangerous.

He never expected that Hanzo would refuse to offer him refuge.

Besides owing him a favor, Danzo also knew some of Hanzo's dirty secrets.

If it came out that they had worked together to eliminate the Akatsuki, it would severely damage Hanzo's reputation.

Hanzo wouldn't have turned him away if he weren't at the end of his rope.

Or at least, that's what Danzo thought.

The moment Danzo entered the Hidden Rain Village, Pain discovered him.

Konan, who was flying in the sky, sensed the unusual chakra and rushed to the source.

When she arrived, she saw Danzo Shimura acting suspiciously.

"Is that him?"

Black Zetsu, the intelligence officer of Akatsuki, had informed them that morning about Danzo's defection from Konoha.

But they didn't expect Danzo to show up at the Hidden Rain Village instead of hiding somewhere.

What could he be up to?

With that thought, Konan decided not to attack immediately. She wanted to see what Danzo was planning.

As time passed, Danzo made his way to the office building in the center of the Hidden Rain Village without any issues.

In his youth, Hanzo of the Salamander had been very ambitious, wanting his village to be as significant as the five great nations.

The construction of the village followed the standards of the other five major countries.

This office building was modeled after the Konoha Hokage office building.

"At this time, Hanzo should be working inside."

Danzo looked at the building in front of him with a sneer, muttering something under his breath before stealthily sneaking inside.

"Is he here to look for Hanzo?"

Since Hanzo was killed, the office building had been abandoned. However, to hide Hanzo's death and prevent suspicious individuals from discovering the truth, the building continued to operate normally to outsiders.

The usual guards were present, and the necessary staff were there, too. Everything seemed to be in place.

In reality, however, it was all a facade. Everyone inside was actually disguised as peripheral members of the Akatsuki to deceive anyone who came by.

Danzo had clearly been deceived.

He carefully avoided all the office staff and finally reached the leader's office on the third floor.

Standing before the door, he took a deep breath, opened it, and stepped inside.

"Hanzo, won't you greet an old friend?"

The office layout was similar to the Hokage's office.

As Danzo entered, he saw "Hanzō of the Salamander" sitting at the desk. The room was dimly lit, likely due to the cloudy, rainy weather in the Hidden Rain Village. Hanzo was facing the floor-to-ceiling window, not Danzo.

For a moment, Danzo didn't realize that the Hanzo before him was a fake.

To be exact, it was a humanoid wooden puppet.

"Hanzo?"

After several seconds of no response from Hanzo, Danzo sensed something was wrong.

He began to move forward cautiously.

When he reached the right side of the desk, he was shocked to find a puppet sitting in the chair.

While Danzo was still in shock, Konan, who had appeared at the door, attacked him.

"Paper Jutsu: Paper Shuriken"

Konan waved her right hand gently towards the office. Instantly, a large number of paper shurikens flew towards Danzo.

"What?"

The sudden attack startled Danzo.

"Wood Release: Violent Spear Tree"

In the nick of time, Danzo jumped back, shattering the floor-to-ceiling window. At the same moment, his right hand quickly formed a giant tree, blocking the paper shurikens.

"Who are you?"

After landing on the roof of a nearby house, Danzo didn't immediately flee. He looked up at Konan in the sky and asked with a serious expression.

"You don't need to know my identity."

Konan replied with a blank face.

Seeing that Konan refused to reveal her identity, Danzo decided not to press the issue. He just wanted to see Hanzo as soon as possible.

"You're in no position to talk to me. Where is Hanzo? Tell him to come out and see me."

Konan looked puzzled. "You want to see Hanzo?"

"Yes, tell him to come see me right away, or I'll expose all the dirty deeds he's done in the past."

The threat had no effect on Konan. With her emotionless expression, she said, "Alright, I'll take you to see him."

Hearing this, Danzo breathed a sigh of relief. 

Even though he had originally asked Hanzo to come to him, he was willing to go to Hanzo if necessary. As long as they could meet, that was what mattered.

"Paper Jutsu: Dance of the Shikigami!"

Konan began her jutsu, transforming her body into countless pieces of paper. A swarm of paper attacked Danzo.

Danzo didn't immediately fight back. He was still trying to understand the situation. He didn't know why Hanzo's men were attacking him. He assumed Konan was one of Hanzo's subordinates.

After all, this was the Hidden Rain Village, associated with Hanzō of the Salamander. He never expected Hanzo to be dead, and so quietly.

"What do you mean?"

At some point, the rain had stopped, letting Konan's paper technique unleash its full power. Danzo struggled to dodge the flurry of papers.

"Didn't you say you were going to meet Hanzo?"

"I am going to see Hanzo. What does that have to do with you attacking me?"

"If I don't kill you, how will you ever meet Hanzo?"

"What? Hanzo is dead?"

Danzo was now panicking. If Hanzo was dead, there would be no one left to protect him in the ninja world. Was Shimura Danzo really destined to be a homeless fugitive, hiding from his enemies?

"Don't resist. I'll take you to see him right now."

Konan intensified her attack. Shurikens, long paper strips, and short swords all came at Danzo. This time, Danzo fought back without holding back.

"Wind Style: Vaccum Sphere!"

While dodging the attacks, Danzo took a deep breath, aimed at Konan and the paper, and shot out a barrage of air bullets from his mouth like a machine gun.
