Chapter 08: The Sun Clan is not to be underestimated

Li Yun and Liu Guan's tourin… investigation took until the night, they found that the city was full of vitality despite the ancient aspect, the population was living at their own pace and it didn't have any particular problem security wise, unlike some city where some boorish man took advantage of people to forcefully sell some dubious artifact… This showed that the Sun Clan that lorded over here knew how to lead the city.

It was already late to go visit the residence of the Sun Clan so Li Yun decided to postpone their visit for tomorrow, Liu Guan found a good but unsuspecting hotel for them to spend the night. It was a star ranked one though...

Arrived here, he took care of everything before leaving Li Yun in his room excusing himself. Li Yun was left alone here so he decided to go back to the system space to make a rapport of the mission's advancement to the other, he had some great finding today.

He appeared in his bedroom in a flash and went downstairs, where everyone was ready waiting for him.

With everyone seated on the (new) dining table, it was time for the rapport.

Li Yun then began his recounting.

"First of all, did anyone actually know that there was such a thing as the Blue river school?"

The other family members were showing puzzled looks, what was that? A public school in the Blue River region?

Xiao Ling'er raised her hand timidly and said in a small voice:

"It was on the explanation I gave when you first came here…"

Seeing that they acted deaf she sighed and said:

"The Blue river school is an entity made by the matriarch of the Li clan to cater for the new generation of cultivator fifteen years ago, the school showed great results as it's graduate became a part of the strength of the whole region, but because of a lack of support from the Great Clans in the Blue River region it's influence is limited to a few cities only…"

"Lack of support….?"

Everyone looked at the highest voice in the Blue River region, but they didn't say anything as Xiao Ling'er continued:

"But! It can become one of the strongest entity in the region as long as the Li clan support it fully which will happen from now on right?"

The leader showed his bearing as he said:

"You are right! How could the future of young children be decided by birth alone, they should be given a chance in the form of this great undertaking from the wisest person in the continent that is the Blue River school!"

Such a great bootlicking skill, it was a great attempt to wash away the ' table's case'.

"But for now, it is necessary to concentrate on the current mission."

Li Yun then talked about the situation in the Yellow leaf city, about how well developed it was while keeping its own distinct features, after hearing his words everyone made some analysis.

"From what you said, the Sun Clan possess an extended and far reaching channels to get different products from the whole continent and even beyond; they have connection with many other races even though it's one of the weakness of our region as a whole. Despite the opening of the trade with the other races, the exchange is actually very limited, the relationship with them is mostly superficial."

Father Li Cheng showed his experiences as he said that, he managed to have a global view of the situation in the Yellow leaf city with just the information that he got from Li Yun.

Mother Li acquiesced with a nod as she said:

"The fact that their exchange reach to the daily life of the population is a great indication that their relationship isn't just about business but even touched the cultural level, the Sun Clan seems really good at diplomacy."

Li Kun then said:

"With our current situation, bringing such a capable yet flexible Clan in our side would be for the best; but to get them to cooperate would be difficult if we don't give them enough reason. They seems expansion oriented instead of profit sided so the best way would be to bring a better partnership with another region like with the Eternal for… cough, ignore what I just said, it's unnecessary." Look like he shot himself in the foot.

Li Ya was more concerned about something else as she said:

"Then, would it be fine to leave the dealing with such a veteran clan to Li Yun alone?"

Everyone looked at him, so Li Yun could only say:

"I may not have enough experience to deal with them, but I think we are a bit too wary . I admit it is reasonable to keep vigilance for whatever they may do or say but, we are the Li clan in the end, the reining power in this region! As long as we show enough sincerity it wouldn't be a problem to bring them on our side, if they still try to play some trick after that then, using strength is a solution since we would be the victim at that time." He was beginning to believe in his own words as he said that.

Xiao Ling'er interrupted with a huge nod saying:

"What brother Li Yun said is right, that's how the cultivation world work. Directly cutting them with a knife would be immortal and condemned but if they give enough reason to retaliate after we showed sincerity it is only natural to demonstrate that we aren't to be trifled with."

The other acquiesced with a nod and accepted the proposition; keep the plan simple. The 'I gave you enough face so show some property' operation could begin!

Since everything was settled, Li Yun took some goods he bought in the Yellow leaf city to show off to everyone.

They marveled at the strange things like a flower made of glass that was a speciality in the central regions, or the orange meat of a bird that could only be found in the western regions, Mother Li was showing a spirited look at the new cooking she could make with these strange ingredients.

While Li Yun was enjoying showing off his spoils to his family, he didn't know that there were numerous shadow keeping a lookout on the hotel he was in right now.

One of them whispered:

"Boss, I am curious about something, why are following them secretly? Shouldn't we send an escort to bring them in the clan's residence?"

"Are you stupid or what? This time's target isn't your typical guest, he is the youngest son of the Saber God." A female voice answered him.

" You mean the extremely arrogant one?"

The woman just gave a nod.

They had found out these suspicious guests out the moment they entered the city so they reported to the clan, the order then came form above to follow them stealthily and assure that nothing would happen, it wouldn't be a laughing matter if they had an altercation with some people that would lead to a fight, they couldn't afford the ire of the Li clan.

The man that asked a question was a subordinate working on place so he wasn't briefed over the information. He then turned to his boss and asked:

"But, he seems a bit too docile no? He just went to the market place for shopping before going to a restaurant to sit and wait and after that he just went to the hotel, I don't think there would be any trouble in those places right?"

The boss looked at him with an eye before saying:

"That's why you are still unable to climb up the ladder, to say that those places are not source of trouble, you make me feel speechless." People nowadays were really unreliable, they didn't even know these common senses.

Another subordinate then appeared beside them saying:

"Boss, do we still need to keep a lookout on the auction house? We are lacking people in the other sector."

"It wouldn't be a problem for now so they can leave; but leave someone behind, it is always good to be vigilant." The boss showed her great experience as she gave order. She then asked:

"Did they found out the reason this young master came here?"

The man answered in respect:

"The specific reason is unknown but it was confirmed that he did came here under the order of the patriarch the Li clan himself."

The woman showed a serious expression, she was concerned about the situation but they could only do their utmost for now. She turned to her subordinates and said:

"No matter the situation, we just need to accomplish our own mission. Don't leave anything suspicious left off. Disperse!"

They then disappeared like no one had ever stood here.

The time went silently without anyone noticing the happening in the Yellow leaf city, the shadows that protected the peace of the city made their works under the dark veiled of the night.

Li Yun woke up in the morning finding himself in an unknown bed, he then remembered that he was in an hotel of the Yellow leaf city and he needed to go make a visit to the Sun Clan and give the pill to their patriarch.

He walked out of bed and went out of the hotel room; outside, Liu Guan was already waiting for him, he turned to Li Yun and said :

"Good morning Young master Li Yun, the breakfast is already prepared do we can take it to your room if you want."

"Good morning. It's fine, I will take it downstairs."

They then went to the dinning hall of the hotel and took their breakfast, Li Yun remarked that there were many customers of different races in there, they were taking a meal of different sort, a fire elemental man was drinking a bowl of soups that seemed more like lava, he was wondering what kind of material the bowl was made from.

They soon found a seat and under his silent persuasion Liu Guan accepted to sit with him. The man then went to bring his breakfast personally leaving him alone for now. It was at that time that a woman seated nearby walked up to him, as he wondered if she fell for his charm, the woman bent slightly before giving him a letter, she then retired herself seeming like she didn't want to disturb him.

As he read the letter, he couldn't help but sigh:

"The Sun clan is indeed not to be underestimated."

Liu Guan then came back with a tray holding bowls of noodles and several steamed buns on it, they tasted quite nice…

Li Yun was before a gate that seemed to come out of a drama, it was leading to a traditional mansion that had surely traversed history, beside him was Liu Guan still holding the umbrella on his side, but they weren't alone, the woman that talked to him in the hotel was accompanying them with several other men that were a bit behind. They ambush… waited for them before the hotel entrance and told that they were to escort them to the Sun Clan residence as a guest invited by the clan leader himself, they weren't under arrest or something.

'Creak'

The gate was opened and from there a man in his late twenties wearing a yellow robe walked out, he showed a cupped fist as he said:

"Welcome to the Sun Clan's residence young master Li; I am the one leading the clan actually, my name is Sun Que."

Li Yun gave back the salute, he also cupped his fist while saying:

"It's an honor to meet you uncle Sun, I also had a matter to discuss with your patriarch so the invitation was very welcomed."

The air seemed to come to a standstill, the escort as well as the woman were showing awkward face while Liu Guan wanted to slap himself, this guy was still so conceited in his own weird way. Not everyone are a family of monsters like yours okay? The Sun clan leader may look like he is as old as your mother but his cultivation isn't that high so he is actually pretty young. He could only lament to himself before whispering quickly:

"Young master, Clan leader Sun Que is the son of the current patriarch of the Sun Clan, technically he is in the same generation as you so calling him uncle is a bit…"

Li Yun showed an understanding look, he was about to say something to melt the freezing atmosphere, but Sun Que said before him:

"Young master Li is good at joking, let's enter quickly, my father the patriarch is waiting for you." No one saw the sharp look in his eyes.

They then followed him inside the mansion.
