She is the queen

Ralph just finished his job. He takes off his gloves and tosses them in the bin.

"I .. will … kill .. your son!" The mumbling voice of the man who is sealed in the crystal red sounds suppressed by pain. Ralph stretches his hand and the big crystal shrinks and comes in his hand.

This was the only way vampires could be restrained. In the crystal they are sealed sleeping eternally but if the crystal were to be broken they would be awaken. So, Ralph had a special room were all the crystals were deposited at the mansion.

"You don't deserve to live. "He frowns as he puts the crystal in his coat.

Every time he seals the vampires, the memory of his wife makes his heart hurt. If he could have been more careful!

Back than they lived in New York. His wife wanted to go to groceries store. He always told her to not leave the house without Angelo. The son could signal Ralph through his blood if something were to happen. But she forgot. This costed her life. As the vampires found her outside they killed her in a cruel way. As Angelo prepared to go to school, in front of the door he saw his mother dead.

Ralph sighs and cuts his hand.

"To the mansion."

//Yes, master! //

If only he could die! His wife's words kept him sane for the past 9 years.

"My sweet Ralph… if I will die one day, promise me to look after our son. Fall in love with a woman, don't close your heart. I will watch you from heaven…..I want you to be happy."

"Darling, don't talk like that! You are not going to die. I will never remarry. And of course, we will take care of our son till you will be an old pretty woman."

He didn't knew that the words of Evelyn will happen in few weeks after their talk. He was convinced back than that he will protect her. After she died, Ralph wanted to make her wish come true. But he will never find another woman. He still loves her a lot even if 9 years passed by fast. There are still moments when he visits her grave and talks to her as if she were alive.

The darkness fades away as his legs touch the floor. He opens the door of the mansion and goes to the special room to put the crystal.

He opens the door and multiple trunks, each having colorful stones. He puts the crystal in the one having a ruby on it.

Ruby trunks were for the most dangerous vampires.

The door cracks. Angelo leans on the door frame.

"A red one …" He frowns remembering that his mother was killed by the same kind of vampire.

Ralph closes the box and approaches Angelo. His hands ruffle the boy's hair and with a smile on, he asks Angelo where is Dina.

"In her room.." He looks annoyed , annoyed by the way his father treats him. He is not a child anymore. Not to mention that he lost a great amount of time arranging his hair.

"We have to be careful with her. She is an important piece of chess. She is the queen. "Ralph fixes his eyes on Angelo and pats his cheek.

"I know. "Angelo sighs and feels sorry for the girl.

"I am going to make dinner. Call Dina! You should start make her fall for you already. The tuxedo was a failed attempt. "Ralph whispers the last sentences. He goes down the stairs in a hurry.

Angelo frowns. Like he had a choice of choosing something else!

He didn't know what else to use as seduction. This method was usually working very well. Girls falling on the ground from heart attacks. Not like Dina from laughter.

He felt a little mad because she mocked his hard work. But overall, it was amusing even for him. Who wears a suit that expensive at home for breakfast in a Saturday to impress a girl? Well just Dina received this kind of unexpected act of failed seduction.

Dina reads a book in the bed. The history of vampires is interesting. She learned lots of things in this afternoon. Well, she just needed to have them confirmed by Ralph.

She checks the clock on the wall.

….19:30….

She stretches her back after putting the book on the bed. Dina closes her eyes and sighs. Her eyes hurt. Well, her glasses for reading are still in New York.

Her stomach growl and she massages it a little.

'Did Ralph came home?' She still doesn't know the program of the man. In the morning, she forgot to ask him where he was going and when he will come back, from all the comedy she laughed at.

Knock! Knock!

She flinches. 'It is probably Angelo….. Like hell I will open the door! 'She is determined to ignore him fully.

Angelo starts to knock more violently and he rises his voice.

"Open the door!" Dina is having her ears covered.

'Why is he screaming like that! Damn, I can still hear him!' She moves away her palms and puts them back on the ears, trying to find if it is a difference with or without her ears covered.

'His lungs are fucking healthy ….'

She jumps from the bed and with small steps she strolls till the door.

The door is opened and right in that moment Angelo yells.

"DINA! "She flinches from the powerful shout. Her ears twitch from pain.

"Why don't you take your suit and head for the opera hall already?" She frowns at him having her hands massaging her ears.

"Shut up! Couldn't you open the door when I knocked? I didn't shout from the start!" He glares at her. Angelo feels his veins ready to pop.

"What do you want?" She wants to stop the conversation short. Dina looks at him serious. She promised herself to not get involved with him and to not let him stir her up.

Angelo is surprised to see her being serious. He was already used to see her being childish.

'She can make such serious face..'

"Dad is making dinner. Come downstairs when you are ready. "He speaks in a low tone. His heart skips a beat looking at the girl.

Her hair was flipped back and her serious eyes are piercing his skin. Her lips are very kissable and her jaw is tensed. The beast in front of him is no other than Dina. He always thought that he never had feelings for her.

Now, he is questioning the feelings he probably buried inside of him for nine years. He used to play with her in the neighborhood. Her silly games were annoying but fun.

But, after they moved from there, he renounced at wanting to see her. He was scared of developing feeling for her. What if she will die like his mother? He couldn't think that he could handle another loss.

The girl is human.

He leaves Dina and goes in his room.
