I found myself drifting back to the present, memories thick in my mind. I was sitting beneath a large oak tree in the center of the garden in the hospital. There were a few small groups of people here and there, all sitting around in between their breaks chatting about their families and friends, but even as I sat here practically surrounded by them, it was like I was totally alone.
My knees were pulled against my chest, head resting back against the solid trunk. I stared up at the long branches growing out from the top of the three, their green leaves offering me shade as I lounged back in my own sorrows.
Something in me had been fighting not to run away but Kate had consumed my patience, and Uno even defended her. I knew she was sick, but damn! She was using it to get him. She’s emotionally blackmailing him and I, myself didn’t even know how to stop her.
