My Secretive Wife (Moved to a new link)

Athena is an agent in a private agency under the wing of the International Police. Her goal in joining the said agency is revenge. But, she had a change of heart and thought of retiring after realizing that her world seemed to revolve around hating and capturing the man responsible for the death of her parents. The supposed last mission became so chaotic that she escaped and met Marco along the way. They fell in love, but she decided to leave him so he won't be involved with the mess she was with without knowing that she was pregnant. Years later, Marco found her by chance. Marco is a man with a few words. He has a monotonous daily life - work and home. He seems arrogant because he doesn't speak much, but he is warm-hearted. This persona of his came out when they met. When she left him, he did not stop searching for her, and his patience was rewarded by meeting her again with their love child.

CHAPTER 19: EAVESDROPPING

Three months later.

"Sir, there's still no news about who the woman is," Benjamin was enraged when he heard the report. His men have been tracking the woman down since the night he fell in her trap.

He hired hackers to get the surveillance video of MC's Hotel and Resort, but they've only able to get the videos of the woman showing up in the ballroom and then entering his hotel room. The rest were either blurry or had no picture at all.

He wants to find that woman who embarrassed him deeply and punished her. "Match the woman's figure to guests who enter and leave the hotel before and after the party." He commanded.

"E-even the male guests, sir?" His assistant asked, shivering.

"Idiot!" He feels like digging a hole and burying his assistant alive for being stupid and useless sometimes.

"S-sorry, sir." His assistant bowed and left hurriedly. Benjamin Baltazar is vicious and has no conscience. He gets what he wants in many ways he fits. He is afraid to make Mr. Baltazar's bad mood escalate.

Benjamin gritted his teeth and punched his table. He was so upset that up until now, they could not find who the woman was. Her traces are all wiped out. His men searched for her for three months, yet his men couldn't find any information.

MC Headquarters

"Sir, Mr. Baltazar's men, haven't found any information about the woman in the party," Anthony has been keeping an eye on Benjamin Baltazar's movement. One of their men infiltrated Benjamin's gang and reported everything related to the woman to Anthony. Anthony then summarizes the report and only says the most important ones to Marco.

"Hmm..." Marco nodded and wasn't surprised about the news. He could tell that the woman wasn't simple at all.

"Have you found any?" He asked his assistant with furrowed eyebrows.

"Nothing yet, sir," Anthony said in shame. It's the first time his men cannot get the information he asked to gather. Usually, they can get it for just a few days and a month at most, but it's been three months already, and they have zero information about her aside from the sketch and that she was at the party.

When Benjamin Baltazar checked out, he sent his men to search the room for DNA samples, but they failed. None of the samples they collected belong to the woman, but it's all from Benjamin Baltazar and his men.

"Contact our people overseas," Marco ordered. He knows it will take time to look for that woman, but he didn't think of needing his people overseas to look for her until today.

His curiosity got into him and the fact that she resembles his wife. Tapping his desk, Anthony knew that he was thinking of something.

He suddenly got up and reached for his gray jacket. "Take care of everything here, and don't call me unless it's urgent," he said in a stern voice.

"Y-yes, sir," Anthony answered with a shaky voice. He wondered what his boss was thinking right now? Anthony admired him for every decision Marco made for the company. Since he started working for him, he never impressed him with his clever and brilliant ideas.

It's why MC Group rapidly rose when he took over the company and made it more successful and listed on top among other companies dominating the business world.

Chavez Mansion

Athena was in her study, looking at the information she had gathered. Since Benjamin Baltazar started searching for her, she's been busy deleting all her traces in the surveillance videos.

The only video of her that they can find is when they checked in and out. She knows that they won't be able to connect her with Marco. So, she's not worried about it.

Who will think that the woman beside Marco is the one who tied Benjamin Baltazar in his hotel room? 'No one,' she smirked.

Before turning off her laptop, she sent an untraceable email to CamZ. She needs to know why Benjamin Baltazar is still unrestricted after three months.

Half an hour later, her phone vibrates. CamZ gave her a burner phone, and she has been hiding it in the study. She only turned it on each time she was in the study. Only CamZ and A1 know her number, so she knows that one of them must be the caller.

"Hello," she said in a low voice. Although she is alone in the cabin and Marco won't be back until later, she speaks in a low voice, just in case someone suddenly shows up.

"It's me, CamZ," she introduced herself. She knows that Athena already knows, but it's nice to introduce herself to her friend since it's been months since they talked to each other. Athena won't be in trouble for sure, but still, she can't hide her concern, especially since she's away from them.

"CamZ..." She hesitated to ask a question. "Do you have any news?" She continued after pausing for ten seconds at most.

"Well, there's news," she said, trying to control her excitement for her.

"Is it good or bad?" Athena cannot think of anything, but she's hoping that it's good news.

"Let's say the agency is on the move," CamZ said in a reassuring tone.

Athena heaved a sigh of relief. 'Be patient, Athena,' she said to herself. She's been waiting for this day, and finally, it will happen soon. All she wants is for the Baltazars to be in jail for the rest of their lives.

"Thank you for the info, CamZ," she said in a sad tone.

"Why are you still sad?" CamZ asked. Though Athena tried to hide her emotion from her, she could tell the difference.

"I just remember my parents," Athena replied, and tears ran down to her cheeks. She's been looking forward to the day that she will be able to send the Baltazars to jail, and finally, it will become a reality soon.

"You're only a step away from your revenge Athena," CamZ tried to comfort her. They're like sisters, and each time one of them is sad, they can feel the same way.

"I know. Thank you for being there for me all these years," Athena said while wiping her tears away.

"You're always welcome, my dear." Athena knows aside from Boss Z, CamZ is always there to support her, too. Like she is to her.

Marco entered the cabin quietly and did not see his wife in the living room and kitchen. He opened their room, and she was not there either. He decided to take a shower and looked for her after.

Athena's study was close, so she was unaware that Marco had come back from work early as expected. She stayed on the phone talking to CamZ.

After taking a shower, Marco changed into dark blue lounge pants and plain white t-shirts. He then left the room and went to his wife's study.

He was about to knock when he heard her talking to someone. He doesn't like eavesdropping, but he was curious.

"Well, I'll let you go. Boss Z might be looking for you now," she said while turning off her computer.

"Bye!"

"Bye!"

She hung up and opened the bottom drawer of her desk. Inside the drawer is a thick book that she bought a few months ago. She bought it not to read it but to hide the burner phone that CamZ gave her. She made a hole in the middle that would fit the phone perfectly.

Athena was about to close the drawer when she heard a knock on the door. She was puzzled about who it was.

"Come in," she said, confused.

"Babe, I'm home!" Marco opened the door and went straight to her to hug her.

"You're early," she was confused why her husband came home early and bothered how long he's been outside her study. 'Did he hear anything?' She asked herself.
