Chapter 29

"To Baek's, Miss?" He asked.

"No, the company for now," she answered calmly, her eyes looking at the sky from the window seat.

He didn't say more.

Lyna was silent the entire time, knowing what happened with the Baek family and Ari, she expected a reaction from her, but not one where she would ask him to kill them all.

Her eyes naturally went to Kale. Would this man seriously go against one of the two strongest families that make this country, alone? If it was the fact he was an S rank, Baek's family has at least four from what she knows, also connections with an SS rank, like her grandfather... Was he about to call for help from him maybe?

Only Ari actually knows of Lyna's lineage in this country, and even when she knew she never stopped treating her like a sister since she never cared about such matters. But if she orders Kale to move, will that involve her family too?

Lyna wondered for the entirety of the ride, 'Was Kale as strong as he made it appear to be?'

Ari, might not know this, but one of Lyna's bodyguards, when she leaves for Korea, is also an S rank. In the store earlier she had decided not to create a scene with the nameless robber for just a purse, so she ordered him to stand still. Later on, when Kale stood before him, he wasn't able to figure him out, which made her suspect Kale's prowess.

One, his killing intent was far more terrifying than her grandfather's, and the fact he hid it so perfectly until she went to him, only meant he was used to killing.

Second, he made the robber, who was around A rank with the power of his gun, lose his mind with only a stare, without even displaying his powers. Or maybe he did, maybe he was just too good at focusing it on one person.

But for her not to feel it at all? Then again, she never even noticed any kind of change in his body ever since she met him. When he talked, spoke, walked, killed. His entire body was like that of a robot.

She knew about him being an assassin. But to be, proficient, to this scary level?

Why is such a man following Ari? What is he willing to achieve with their deal, knowing it might only throw her into her death?

Lyna's eyes turned cold. Kale, is not that strong to be able to protect her everywhere.

There may be a possibility he was stronger than her grandfather with his energy. But, by her grandfather's side, she met one of those that truly control the world, living in infinite boredom.

She saw, a god. And Kale, was no god.

To promise Ari a country, was nothing but an illusion of the naive.

But the certainty in his voice did bring her curiosity.

A few minutes later they reached the company, and Ari walked directly to her work followed by Lyna, helping her out.

Two hours passed by in a flash with all the piled-up work they had.

Ari stood up from her desk, carrying a few papers with her in order to work at home.

Kale stood up alongside her and took the papers from her hand without exchanging words.

"Thank you," she said while looking for her purse.

Lyna walked beside her, always being suspicious of Kale, while Ari seemed uncaring about everything but her work.

They walked to the car and Kale opened the door for her.

She finally noticed suddenly, 'When did he change cars?'

The one in front of her was her car, not the one he brought.

She started thinking, ever since they left the restaurant they have been riding in this car, but she was sure they came in his black car.

'How...' She wondered for a moment before giving in.

She let Lyna go in first, and raised her hand to ask for the papers from Kale's hands.

"Give them to me," she said while still having doubts in her mind. 'I will ask him later.'

"If you are going to start working as soon as we get home, it would be better if you rest on the ride." He raised his hand inviting her to enter the car.

Ari took a deep breath, looked at him quietly, and listened.

She took this time to breathe a bit and change the view.

"Lyna is sleeping over at my house, so."

Kale nodded.

Both the women behind remained silent until the car suddenly stopped by a convenience store, close to a butcher's shop.

"Why are we stopping?" Asked Lyna.

"I will be back," spoke Kale as he got out of the car.

Lyna turned to look at Ari, whose eyes followed him.

"He is probably going to bring ingredients for our dinner."

"Oh, you mean..."

"Yeah, he is cooking tonight."

"Hmm," Lyna turned around to look at his back.

They didn't until he came back with bags, but he didn't turn around to enter the car, he rather knocked on Ari's window, telling her with his finger to get it down.

She did whilst being confused.

He reached into one of the bags, then brought out two corns of ice cream, which both were chocolate.

"Why did you," she asked while he made her take them from his hands.

"I felt like it," he said.

She gave one to Lyna. When she turned to look at him he had already walked to the other side.

He got in and started the car.

"What about you?" Suddenly asked Ari.

"I didn't get any."

"Why not? You don't like it?"

"I don't know."

Ari had just opened hers and licked it.

"What do you mean you don't know."

"I have never tried them to say."

Ari's eyes widened. "You never had ice cream?"

Even though he can make desserts with it he never tried it, the same could be said for certain types of food.

Kale was just, too busy to care about sweets or eat anything that wasn't balanced for his tongue palace.

For an existence like him, that didn't need food, the taste was what he enjoyed the most, even though most of the time he was eating what he hunted and what his father made, the latter being the unfathomable delicacies of a refined man.

He didn't get to eat such things for the mere fact he wasn't brought up in a household that did. So he never cared, nor was he curious enough to give it a try.

"No, I didn't."

"But," Ari spoke in a quiet voice. She turned her eyes around but they had already left the store behind.

She didn't know what took over her when she suddenly sat forward and raided her hand that held the ice cream up to him.

"Give it a taste." Ari's heart was beating wildly, it showed on her pink cheeks how embarrassed she was.

They were at a red light, so he was about to turn around to meet her eyes.

"Don't, just try it," she said coldly imposing on him, not letting him catch her like this.

His eyes fell on the ice cream.

She looked at him as his gray eyes noticed she had already licked it.

Her ears turned red.

"If you mind that, then it's okay, maybe another time."

Just as she was about to take her hand away he suddenly held it.

This wasn't the first time they held hands, with the many times he had helped her out of the car, but this time it was different.

His grip was tight, not letting her go, but also gentle in some way so as to not hurt her.

Ari's body froze.

"I will try it," he said while looking at her.

Ari fell deeply in those start eyes of his, and could only nod to his words.

The light suddenly went green, so he had to move.

"Wait," he said letting go of Ari and driving the car.

"Okay," Ari went back to her place, her lips on her ice cream again. "I will leave you some."

She turned over at Lyna, noticing she was here all this time, and noticing the surprised face on her she turned away embarrassed.

"S-stap!" She couldn't even spell correctly as the ice cream was too cold for her.

Lyna started punching her joking and they started giggling.

Kale's eyes were looking at Ari, having fun in the back.

'Maybe I should have stopped time to try it.'

"Ha..." he sighed quietly.

'When did I become so impatient.'
