Chapter 10

~Eric~

I go to the living room to tell my parents and mate's parents to meet me in my office. I look out the window to wondering were my mate could be. I heard the doors open and I turn around to go sit down.

"What happened while I was gone," I said trying to avoid getting mad that I was not here to protect my forever person.

"Well, we were talking to Vanessa about what had happened the day of the ball," my Dad said.

"Her father left to see her younger brother. Your father, Vanessa's mom and I stayed trying to comfort her and to hear her story," my mother said.

At this point, I start to get nervous but I didn't let it get the best of me. I left the office to go to my bedroom to try and figure out where Vanessa went. I go run outside to find where she could have gone to. I was walking until I heard some rustling in the woods. I stop to make sure that they do not notice me.

"Sir we have searched the whole place and we couldn't find her," the man said.

"Well check again," the other man said almost yelling.

"We have, we checked 2 times and we couldn't seem to find her. Her scent seems to disappear into thin air," the man said.

I left slowly because I didn't want them to know I was there. I wonder what they meant when they said that they couldn't find the scent. A wolf scent can't just disappear, right? I came across the same river that Vanessa got hurt. I sat there for a few minutes and I heard something behind me. I stand up and turn around to see a female with a white dress wearing gold jewelry.

"Ma'am what are you doing in the forest," I asked.

"Actually I came here to talk to you. Oh, and my name is Selene," she said hearing the name before.

"What do you want to talk about Selene."

"Well, it is about your mate Eric. You have to protect her at all costs."

"I will protect her with my life and how do you know my name I never told you," I said while she chuckled.

"You will understand everything later and please go easy on your mate. She is having a hard time with her problems," she said having a sad voice while I nodded.

"Good, now swim into the river and in a cave, you will find her there," she said standing next to me and pointing where the cave is at.

"Thank you for everything," I said while looking at her. While she turned away to leave.

"Eric, make sure this conversation is between us and Vanessa. You must tell her what I've told you," she said while I nodded.

I looked back to make see if she was there but she wasn't there anymore. I took my clothes off leaving me only in my boxers. I swim and go into the cave there I see my mate inside is sleeping. One thing that caught me off guard was that her hair was a different color. I was unaware of the meaning of the color and let it slide because I might be seeing things here. I woke her up so we can head home.

"Vanessa, we need to go home," I said.

"Do we have to go. I want to stay here," she said in a very tired voice.

"C'mon we have to get going."

"I said that I want to stay."

"Please let's go back home, I don't want you to get sick."

"Fine," she said in a whisper.

I pick her up and start heading out of the cave. When we were at the edge I sat her down, I jumped into the water and then I told her to do the same. I caught her in my arms and we started swimming back where our clothes were at. We got out of the water and I put my clothes on while she did hers.

"Vanessa, c'mon jump on my back," I said, while she jumps.

"What are we going to do when we go back to your house," she says.

"Well, first of all, we both have to take a shower because of being outside most of the time. Once we are finished taking showers we will sleep or we can have something to eat."

"Could you walk faster I want to eat some food," she said while I chucked. Then I remembered of the thing that happened earlier, I have to tell her later.

"Oh, also I have to tell you something. But it could wait until later, also because we are out in the open," I said. Within a few minutes we were at our house, I went inside and went to the room.

"Let me take a shower first," she said and I put her on the ground. 

She went to get her clothes and went straight into the bathroom. After 10 or 15 minutes she was out and laid on the bed. I went to give her a kiss on her forehead and went to the bathroom to take a shower as well.

~A Few Minutes Later~

When I was finished I came into the room to see Vanessa sleeping on my bed. I chucked and went to put on some underwear. I went to lay down next to her.

"Princess," I say to her and it took her a few seconds to reply to me.

"What," she said in a tired voice and a whisper.

"What are we going to do tomorrow," I ask her.

"I don't know but one thing is that I want to rest and be with you."

"Okay, but the first thing that we are going to do is eat breakfast."

"I'm good with that."

"Also, I want to tell you that I'm sorry for leaving you alone. I just left you and you were worrying about me and I just shut everybody out, I'm really sorry."

"You will be forgiven this time but next time it won't go so well. Also, what were you going to tell me when we were in the forest?"

"That could wait until tomorrow. We both need rest," I said while Vanessa is yawning.
