Chapter 5: The Acceptance

When Evon got home, Stella was waiting for her. " I was wondering when you are going to get back. You can gist me all about it tomorrow, I am way too tired to talk about anything. Evon entered her room opened the contract and began to go through it. Sam was paying her a lot for this, he was giving her way more than she could imagine. Every month she gets paid $1m and at the end of the year, she gets $10m if she keeps the whole business a secret. Any slight chance it gets out, the deal is over. She must quit her job as soon as she accepts his proposal and the courtship begins. She is to carry out all her responsibility as a wife, nothing she doesn't want to do is demanded from her. She must attend all family and official functions. She dropped the contract, she loves her job, she has worked so hard to get to the position she is in now. After the whole contract is completed, she knows she will be a wealthy woman. She didn't need to think about it, a lot could happen in one year. She took her pen and signed at the bottom of the contract accepting to become Mrs Wong.

After signing, she knew there was no turning back. She kept the contract hidden in a place she knew that no one would see it, not even her roommate, and went to bed with a frown on her face, 'is it about the money? no, it's about the challenge. Challenges stretch you and help you become more than you can be' she thought while still in bed. She will ride this challenge and hope it takes her to a better place. She then smiled as she thought, what will it be like to be married to Sam? Well, she is about to find out, and like that, she drifts off to sleep.

Waking up the next morning, Evon was getting dressed when her friend Stella called out to her, "So how was your business date yesterday? I saw the car, be careful girl, stick to the rules, as long as you don't miss business with pleasure you will be fine" she said as she leans on the door of Evon's room looking ready for work. Stella came into her friend's room and looked at her as she was getting ready for work "Oh you know me, I prefer to be safe than sorry" Evon said, looking at the reflection of her friend in the mirror. Stella blew her a kiss as she left the house. "I really hate doing this, but I have to. I wonder what she will think if I tell her I am getting married to Sam. Stella believes that the rich don't mix with the not so rich" even said while she sighed. Evon needs to walk her own path, there is a reason this challenge came across her path, and she plans to ride this wave till the very end. After getting dressed, she left the house and went to work.

Getting to the office, Sam was not yet around. She entered his office and placed the document in the bottom drawer and left the office. It was almost noon before he came to the office. He went straight in and called her in.
