Chapter 13: Glossy Eyes

FIFTEEN YEARS AGO:

I stopped pushing my wolf when I remembered a talk I had with my mom. It was really important that I be gentle and safe. I needed to be responsible with my power, because my wolf and I were both so young, and nobody knew what meant.

I knew mom wouldn’t be too happy if she found out about this. Then I thought of Connor, though. I thought being a wolf was just super cool. I really wanted to share that with my best friend.

I kept pushing on my wolf, to try and force her out of my body and over to Connor’s. Only, this time she started to seriously fight me back. That was fine, up until she clawed me. It made me mad, so I berated her. But I didn’t want Connor to freak out, so I made sure to keep it all in my head.

“Hey! I’m the boss of you!” I told my wolf. She had started to cower in a corner of my mind. She knew she had messed up when she lashed out at me. “You’re my wolf, the Moon Goddess gave you to me. That means you have to do what I say!”
