I Believe In Second Chances, But You Lost Yours Years Ago!

*3rd POV*

Seeing Enigma in front of them sent Fisk's brain into overdrive, with Kraven and Taskmaster immediately getting into a fighting stance. Maverick just narrowed his eyes and reached for his gun. 'I didn't sense him move.' He thought. Though not on a molecular level, he still had kinetic awareness of his surroundings, but Enigma was standing in front of him like a ghost.

"Can't you just sit in the cell Fisk? Always creating problems for other's." Enigma said standing casually. Seeing his nonchalant attitude extremely irritated Fisk, but finding the opportunity, Maverick drew both his guns out and fired at Enigma. He targeted all his vitals, including his head, which was not guarded by armor, but Enigma just stood there, all bullets bouncing off him.

After Maverick emptied both cartridges, Enigma just looked at him blankly. Maverick's eye twitched seeing this but kept his stoic face.

"Well, since you are so exited for action, let's just start." Enigma said and smoke pellets burst between the four covering them. Seeing this, they quickly rolled away from the smoke, not letting Enigma have an advantage, but the smoke dissipated as quickly as it appeared, and only Maverick was left standing in front of Enigma.

In the backyard of the mansion, Taskmaster rolled and came to a halt, but got confused seeing the surroundings change. 'Teleportation?' He thought. He quickly equipped his sword and shield knowing this is a trap. Exactly then, a black figure came out of the shadows towards him.

He looked at his opponent, but realized he didn't know her. "You're new." He said. Hearing him, Nightclaw slid her claws out sending Taskmaster alarms. "That's... not new, but still dangerous." He finished, readying his stance, right as Nightclaw leapt at her prey.

Kraven ended up in the nearby woods. He took out his daggers and went on full alert. He suddenly heard a voice above him, "I gotta ask man, how did a celebrity hunter like you end up with criminals?" Spidey quipped, hanging upside-down from a branch.

"Spiderman, I see, you're a fan. How about you come down willingly so I can add your head to my collection." Kraven said, licking his knife.

" Huh, is this what they call 'You shouldn't meet your stars'?" Spidey said and jumped away, avoiding the flying knife.

"Come down Spider, your head is mine." Kraven said grinning maniacally.

"The only thing happening is you going to your cell Kraven." Spidey said, and leapt into action.

Fisk was transported to the helipad, a little further from his mansion. He looked around confused but saw no one. Seeing his helicopter intact, he quickly made his way to it, for it to only explode when he was about 2 meters from it, making him fall back.

"AArgh, I should have expected that." Kingpin said furiously and punched the ground.

"He does have a liking of exploding vehicles." A voice came behind him. Fisk stood up and looked back, seeing Daredevil walk towards him. But unlike before, he wasn't wearing his mask, letting Fisk see his face in the light of the burning chopper.

"Matt Murdock? The blind lawyer of Hell's Kitchen. 'You' are who they call the man who doesn't fear?" Fisk said narrowing his eyes.

"Seems to be the case." Matt said back.

"So you became a vigilante to usurp my empire? For some old fools property? Now you have told me who you are, you think I will just let you go?" He asked glaring.

"No you won't, I know that." Matt replied. "That's why I'm ending this. Right here, right now." He said, and took his stance.

"No you won't you heroes have a habit of playing around. You won't kill anyone here." Fisk replied, taking a stance as well.

"I don't know about the other three, but you are taking your last breath today." Matt replied, leaking his intimidation. "As my fellow vigilante says. It's time for you to Repent!" He said and leapt forward.

Back with Maverick, he was startled for less than a second seeing the other three disappear and said. "Teleportation technology? Your secrets indeed be beneficial for us."

"Looks like you're quite confident in your abilities." Enigma said, landing on the ground. "Then again, anyone would be if they could get stronger absorbing kinetic energy from opponents." This sent Maverick on alert. He thought Enigma left him alone thinking he is an easy prey to get information on X-boosters and the he will take him by surprise, but it seems he already knew everything.

"Yes, I do know everything about Stryker's little project." Enigma said, surprising him even more. He was answering as if reading his mind, which should be impossible because of the chip.

"Is it really though?" Enigma replied, confirming he is reading his mind. "Tell me, is Stryker looking for the Spider's out of curiosity, or Sublime asked him to do it?" Enigma asked.

Maverick displayed the very expression he was expecting. Enigma wasn't sure of Sublime's existence, but the memories surfaced in Maverick's mind confirmed it. His Kinetic field was a barrier, but an easy one, while the chip was rendered useless because of technopathy.

Maverick realized Enigma saw his memories, and attacked him with Kinetic and anti-heal blasts, taking out his adamantium sword. Enigma dodged all blasts and brought out Dark Moon blocking the blade. Nord was surprised seeing it block an adamantium blade, but didn't give much thought.

After a few clashes, he interrupted the blade clash with a kinetically charged fist, which, to his surprise Enigma deflected easily and kneed him in his chest. Normally Maverick would just absorb the impact and continue, but Enigma's hit disrupted his kinetic energy out of his control, resulting in his own energy erupting from the impact spot making him blast backwards with Enigma unharmed.

Maverick healed quickly because of his healing factor, but his energy still seemed to be in disarray. "What did you do?" He asked glaring at him.

"I don't know what you mean." Enigma told him in a sly voice, irritating him more. He rushed forward in a burst, coating his body making it at least 5 times stronger and faster than a regular human. But to his surprise, Enigma dodged him swiftly and stabbed him with his wolf claws, injecting him with an anti-heal serum. Maverick didn't think much and kept the assault, but he couldn't overpower Enigma. He slowly found his body getting weaker, which was noticed by Enigma and he went on a complete offensive. Enigma's blade cut through the adamantium blade like paper, with his arm. Before he could yelp in pain, he got slashed in the chest, followed by a few kicks and hooks, completely throwing his energy into a disarray, after which Enigma caught him with his neck and choke-slammed him down, making him release all his energy, destroying the ground.

Maverick was barely conscious. One arm missing, other broken to the shoulder, same with both his legs, with four ribs. Blood leaking through the slash wound on his chest. Enigma stood on top of him with Dark Moon pointed at his face.

"This is not the end. Trust me." Maverick said to Enigma, confusing him. Maverick realized that from the silence and continued, "I have observed you, you break mercenaries like me so we can't harm others and let the law decide our fate. You give them a second chance to do something. So far, you haven't broken your code."

"Well, if I don't believe in second chances, what I am doing becomes meaningless. Those who have done wrong deserve one to turn a new leaf." Enigma said.

"Naive. You'll regret this. Mark my words." He replied.

"I think you are misunderstanding something." Enigma replied looking at him, now making him confused.

"People indeed deserve second chances. You got yours when you were revived" He said, lifting his blade, " And you lost yours after that."

Those words made Maverick shudder but before he could do anything, the blade swung down, separating his head.

*3rd POV end*

I stood over Maverick's body and took a blood sample. He's not at Gambit's level, but he's still something. I already have all information of Stryker, Trask and Essex he knew. Sublime was still an unknown as he didn't know much about him. I was hoping for him and his sister to not exist, but it's nothing too big. Finding him may be a problem, making a 100% germ cleanser isn't too hard.

Spidey and Nightclaw came back with Kraven and Taskmaster, knocked out. Taskmaster had slashes all over his armor and his mask was broken, while Kraven looked like he was hit by a truck. It wasn't bloody like us though. That's what makes him Spiderman.

"You didn't burn him?" Laura asked me looking at Nord. Peter had turned away the moment he looked at the lifeless head.

"As much as I like to burn him with Hellfire, I need him to be found by FBI so they get a lead to Stryker." I said, picking up Kraven from Spidey's hands.

"Spiderman?" I asked concerned.

"Sorry,... it's just a bit too much for me." He replied.

I stayed silent for a while and said, "Get Queen on you and clean any webs, removing any traces linking to you." He just nodded and went away. We warped to the Helipad to see Daredevil looking at the burning chopper. I could see a fat body in it as well. Fisk deserved to be burnt alive.

"You guys done?" He asked, looking for Spider.

"Yeah, Spider is just cleaning for any traces leading to us." I told him. He looked like he had something to say but didn't continue. After a while Peter came back removing all the Traces with Oracle's help and we boarded the jet. We gave both Taskmaster and Kraven tranquillizers to keep them asleep for 24 hours.

"Why did you clear the traces? You have bombed Fisk's building before." Daredevil finally asked.

"I wasn't a team player then. But now I am, and I definitely can't have Spidey on the list of heroes who kill. At least not now. Plus, this can be staged as a gang war. An other party found Fisk's deal for the X-Boosters and ambushed them." I said.

"What about Marve- no Mavera-... the kinetic energy guy?" Spidey asked, shooing away the depressing conversation. We chuckled at his attempt.

"Don't worry. You see, just as Fisk had escaped, police got a list of corrupt cops and gangs under Fisk, courtesy of Queen. And that is happening ALL OVER USA." I said, sending them into shock.

"How did she gather so much data???" Spidey finally snapped out and asked.

"Don't underestimate the Queen, Spiderman" Oracle quipped through the speaker, her voice filled with pride.

"Damn right I'm never underestimating you ever again. You can even hack all countries nuclear codes." He said, still in awe.

"I do have them actually, want to hear it??" She asked, sending Spidey into his own thoughts blanking out.

"See what you did? You broke him" I said to her. She just giggled at that. Matt and Laura just decided to forget this conversation ever happened. Wise decision.

"What about Maverick's case?" Laura asked.

"It just so happens the police received a call from one of Kingpin's men telling them about the deal, which was cut-off by a big explosion." I said with a sly smile. Not that you could see from my mask.

'That evil smile again' Oracle said in my head by I just ignored her.

We made it back to the base, where I dropped Spidey and DD, after which I dropped Kraven and Taskmaster right outside Capt. Stacy's office, Batman style. Wonder what reaction he will have.

"Gwen's gonna tell another story tomorrow." Laura said sheepishly. I looked at her with a raised eyebrow to which she replied, "Her dad complains about us at home, and she tells it at school. He's more annoyed, but doesn't hate us anymore at least." She said.

Yeah, well messing with grown-ups is one of my pass-times. Spidey's jokes get to them too. I just chuckled at that and we flew home.
