My love from the past..

Alexander, a young man haunted by the tragic death of his wife to cancer, is consumed by grief and struggling with a disorder. When he runs into Emma, a young woman he met at the mall, Alexander is convinced that Emma is the reincarnation of his dead wife. But as his obsession with Emma intensifies, it led him into kidnaping Emma thinking she is his wife and he would go any length to make sure she is closer with him. …… As my eyes peeled open, I found myself surrounded by darkness. The air around me was suffocating and I struggled to breathe. Panic kicked in as I realized I was cramped in the small space of a car's boot. As I struggled for air, I kicked and screamed, hoping someone would hear me out and rescue. Suddenly, the car came into an halt, and I froze. I remained quiet, hearing the sound of heavy footsteps approaching the car's boot. The door creaked open and my gaze met with the familiar smile of Alexander as he stood before me with a warm expression. “My dearest wife, Tayla,” he began and I felt my chest squeezed in pain at the suffocating air. “We have gone far away from the sight of others. No matter how you try to run away from me, you are still my wife and there is nothing in this world that can pull us apart.”

A random girl

Alexander POV

As I stood in front of the canvas, dipping my brush with the blue paint, I found myself humming to a song I learnt in my childhood.

Just as I raised my hand to stroke the brush across the canvas surface, I heard my phone buzzed in my pocket. I quickly fetched my phone from my pocket and looked at the caller ID to see Emma's name. I had been expecting her call since I returned from the restaurant. With a quick swipe, I answered the call and brought it to my ears to listen to her sweet voice.

"I'm sorry to disturb you but I forgot my purse at the restaurant. Have you left for home yet?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm still at the restaurant," I replied, a smirk forming at the corner of my lips.

After exchanging more words with her, I hung up, putting my phone back into my pocket. My eyes then moved over to the purse sitting on the table. A warm feeling came to my heart as I realized I would once again see her tomorrow in my Mansion.

I paused with the painting and slowly took a step backward imagining what I would say to make her stay a little longer after she had taken the purse. What kind of conversation should I bring up that would spark her interest?

The more time I thought about her, the more I realized that I was becoming obsessed with Emma. I slowly walked towards the cupboard and pulled it to fetch a single picture I had left of Tayla, my dead wife. My hands ran across her picture not able to believe that she was dead.

She has died to the hands of cancer a few years ago and even until today the pain was still fresh in my head. I have been going through tons of therapist session but none was helping with the pain I was feeling for my lost wife.

Back to when I saw Emma at the mall, I thought for a second that was Tayla's ghost form. No, I thought that was really her and she had faked her death to run away from me.

I clenched my hand into a fist as I realized that was not Tayla and it was Emma, a random girl I ran across at the mall. With anger evident on my face, I slammed my hand onto the mirror and it smashed into pieces.

I gripped the side of the mirror stand and stared at my reflection in the broken mirror. Tayla is not dead and her soul might be present in Emma's body. That is not Emma but my wife. She is the reincarnation of Tayla.

I slowly closed my eyes remembering the smile on Tayla's face when I talked about my interest at the restaurant. She is just like I knew her since I got married to her. She loves photography since the time I married her and would often spend her time reading books. Just because of her, I had created a library room for her. She was a lovely woman before she died in the…..

No, I shook my head. My wife is not yet dead and her soul is still living in Emma's body. I could still feel the goosebumps on my back when I am closer to her at the restaurant.

I am not letting go of that woman like I did years ago. She is my life now and if anything happens to her, I would not hesitate to kill myself. I could still feeling the anger brewing inside me with each passing second. I grabbed my drugs from the cupboard and left the room to take it.

….

Hearing the sound of car driving through my gates, I hurried arranged the food on the dining table and hurried outside the Mansion. There, I stood at the entrance waiting for Tayla. She slowly steps down from the car dressed in a casual low waist jeans and small crop top. She was also wearing a black shade while holding her phone.

As she approached me, a smile appeared on her face and I felt my heart clenched at her smile. It's been years Tayla had smiled for me. The last she did was in the hospital bed when she was slowly passing out.

"Good morning, Alex," she said.

"Morning," I smiled.

"The purse? Where is it?" She asked.

"I had made breakfast for the both of us. If you don't mind joining—"

"I already ate at home," she cut in and I frowned slightly. This was something Tayla would never do. She'd never reject my food.

My hands clenched at the side into a fist as I stared at her.

"Please join me. I thought you would be hungry that was why I cooked for the both of us," I said biting my bottom lip.

"I already ate before coming here but since you cooked food then let me just eat a bit," she said. "I don't want the food to go into waste."

I pushed the door wide for her and she walked inside the Mansion. Her eyes moving around as she admired the interior of the house.

"Your house looks good," she said as I guided her towards the dining room.

I slowly pulled out a chair for her and she sat down. I sat down next to her, smiling at her as I watched her eat.

"Are you not hungry?" She asked.

"I am," I laughed lightly, nearly forgetting my empty stomach. I picked the fork and began to eat.

But my eyes never left her for a minute. My eyes slowly moved to the glass of water near her and I waited for her to pick it up. As she slowly gulped down the water, she sat down for a while.

"Can I get my purse now?" She asked.

"Sure," I stood up with a smile. "Let me go get it from my room."

"Thank you." She mumbled and I felt my cheek warm up. As I climbed the stairs to go get the purse, I returned back to see her fast asleep in the dining room. The smile on my face widened as I slowly picked her up in my arms and I took her to my room to rest.
