My Life in the Monsterverse (Dropped/Moved to New Book)

David Griffin is a man who just turned 22. He loves his family, but he is pressured by them all the time to do his best. He knows that they care for him, but when he tries to talk to them about how he feels about things, anything, he usually is told to just push through it, to man up, or something similar. He feels trapped because he wants to accomplish something that will make them proud, but whenever he tries to he ends up failing at it. Everyone around him says he's trying too hard, and is only hurting himself, but he just keeps pushing himself. He's also the oldest of siblings, so he has to be the example for them, so even when he's hurting he just puts on a smile and just pushes on. Well, problems start to happen with his mind, and he isn't able to cope with it and he starts breaking down, and he doesn't want his family to see him in that way, so he starts to drift away. Finally, one evening, he goes over to his family's home since his sister is bringing over a boyfriend. During the time there, the boyfriend starts joking around with the family, but for some reason, starts nitpicking at David about how even though his sister is younger than him, she has had more success than him. Well, this was the straw that broke the camels back. David blows up at his sisters boyfriend, and in the process ends up splitting them up. He feels bad already since he knows how much she loved him, and with everything swirling around his head at lightspeed of not being good enough, these next words from his family ends up driving a stake through his heart. "I'm embarrassed and tired of being related to you, I can't believe what you just did to me," his sister says, and the rest of his family is in agreement. Not being able to handle anymore, just gets up and leaves with tears not coming out because he's holding it in, and not being able to say anything with the feeling of shards of glass in his throat, drives off and tries to get home. On the way there, he finally can't hold it in anymore and starts crying on the way home. Unfortunately, with tears making it hard to see while driving, doesn't see that there was a car off to the side of him, the driver drunk. It's too late to swerve, and the drunk hits him head on in a T-bone. David died instantly, not able to process he died, and in hysterics from earlier that night, doesn't notice God sitting in front of him, with a sad look on His face. God walks over to him, hugs him and just lets David cry it out. After hours of crying, David finally is able to take in what is happening to him and looks around.

The Past Memories and Nightmares

When they were done making their new home on the Godzilla Earth, they both looked at the results and it was a beautiful city in the sky. With the main purpose being beauty before anything else, it was a sight to behold. Kon and Junko both looked at it, and they were both just happy being able to change it. Majestic birds flying around, beautiful trees that sometimes there was only one tree on the floating mountain and it would span the whole mountain top. The never ending waterfalls that came down from the mountains into a lake below the mountains in a bowl essentially only made it more mystifying.

With their new home, they decided to take a break and to just explore all that they had done. They made a floating island go from the foot of the gateway to the outside world to the closest Hallelujah mountain. And from there, beautiful bridges expanding between the floating mountains. Big enough and strong enough for even a titan to travel across. At the back, on the biggest and most beautiful mountain, there stood a lone tree. A lone sakura tree, spanning the back half of the mountain. In front is a Japanese temple bigger than anything that the world could produce.

After exploration of the various Islands, and making small towns and cities on them, Kon and Junko looked pleased. However, they both realized something. They were so caught up on just making the place look beautiful they forgot that there weren't anyone there to even live in the places they had made.

Regardless of that though, they weren't upset. Merely just a placeholder for their future selves. "We could use this place later as a home for whoever wants to stay with us. We have eternity in front of us so why worry. We have each other and that's all we really need." Kon said to Junko, still in his small fox form being held by her. Junko just smiling at the progress they had made.

They are both content and with the connection between them giving them the ability to feel the others emotions, allows them to feel even better. They both think it's interesting but regardless they don't question it at all. They just accept it in full.

They were just enjoying their time together. In reality it's only been a short time together between them, and they still haven't really done much talking. But they have all the time in the world in front of them. So they just make small talk about their surroundings, a few hopes for the future, and they do this as they walk around the place. Satisfied with what they have explored in their new home, Kon wanted to see more of the outside world.

"Hey, I'm wanting to go out and explore a little bit. Mind letting me down real quick?" Kon asked Junko. Junko reluctantly let go, but knew that he was going to come back anyway. And when he was put down, he transformed into his true body and started to walk out. On the other side of the gateway to his home, he saw that there was just mountains around and snow and nothing else. He decided to just let the wind take him wherever it goes.

So he just walks in a random direction. Not really having a goal in mind other than just checking out the place. And while on the walk basically, he started to dive into thoughts. Although most were just comments about the surroundings, he was also questioning a lot about what had happened so far. 'I haven't really had a chance to even think about what happened in the Pacific Rim world. That wasn't normal. That was someone else trying to destroy the place, question is, did he arrive after me or before me. The first time that I met that strange Kaiju was when I was with the brothers at the start of the movie. I came into that world long before that, but why didn't the Precursor do something then if he was there as long as I was?' As he kept going through it, he kept asking questions with no answers to them at the time.

He didn't realize how far he had gotten just walking. And with that, had stumbled into onto flatlands. 'Where am I?' Kon thought to himself. Not realizing that he had stumbled across the mountains. "Hey Uncle Iroh, where am I exactly?"

[You are heading into what the country of Laos would be in the future. You haven't even realized what time it is right now have you?]

Kon looking around, is just confused. "What are you talking about, it's only been a bit. There wasn't a whole lot of sunlight since the day was just starting, and there still is only a little bit of light."

[No, look at where the sun is sitting right now. You have been in your thoughts so much that you have been walking all day, it's dusk now, and Junko has been getting more worried since you haven't shown back up at all since you left, and even talked to me about where you are. She's a lot calmer now that she knows you're okay, but please head back. You can always come here later]

"Oh no." Kon says, and with that sprints back to the mountain passageway and see Junko floating there with a not so happy look on her face. Feeling the anger, worry and upset feelings through their connection, Kon's ears and tails droop. He already felt bad that he lost what time it was, and worried Junko, but know that he could actually focus on the connection, could understand how much worry and upset she was.

"Why weren't you back before now?" Junko asked him. Kon, just stood there without talking, not sure what to say other than, "Sorry."

Junko still just looking at him, Kon just kept looking down and feeling more guilt as the time passed. Junko feeling what he was feeling, decided to let it pass. She didn't push it even more and since she could feel the guilt coming off him (quite literally) she knew that he wouldn't do it again without telling her.

"It's okay, as long as you know not to scare me like that again." Junko just floated over to Kon's face, and just hugged his snout since he was looking down. Kon, feeling better but still feeling guilty about it all, just accepts the hug. He switches his body to the small boy with fox ears and tails. With his tails wrapping around the two of them, he just sits there in a tight hug with Junko. After a bit the two of them head back into their home. Although they planned on staying there, they decided to head to the Observatory instead. They just laid down in the bed and tried to fall asleep, but with Kon, he wasn't having a good time with his sleep, having his thoughts go back to the past, before he met Junko, before he met Iroh, before he met Him.

So for the entire night, he was stuck with uncomfortable memories going through his head as nightmares. Stuck with the nightmares of the past, he just clung to Junko, with the feeling of someone else there, he calmed down, and even though he was asleep, feeling it was the one he trusts the most regardless of him being asleep made him sleep better. And like that they both slept.

When Junko woke up, she found a weight on top of her, Kon had moved to curl up on top, and just lay down his head on her chest. Junko was smiling at that, and started to stroke Kon's hair, but she noticed that it wasn't all white.

There was black hair at the ends of his head, and tails were the same with it being the ends were black tips with the rest of it white. Junko not understanding what was going on asked Iroh. "Uncle Iroh, what's going on with Kon? I've never seen him like this before," more curious than worried, since he was sleeping calmly and quietly on top, and when Junko started rubbing his head the black ends started retreating and it becoming white again, although not completely.

[It's his memories of the past that are coming back. He never recovered from them, and from feeling guilty about yesterday made him think he failed again. There's nothing you can do other than spend time with him and try to make more memories that are better. He can only work through it the best he can, and he won't talk without you asking questions, so he'll keep quiet about it all and just smile and joke it off]

Junko didn't like hearing that. Even though she has been through a lot, she never got nightmares from it, she accepted everything, and is able to move on, but Kon hasn't had that ability yet. "Hey Uncle Iroh, I've also been meaning to ask something, his age, what's up with that? Why are there two different numbers for him when we were looking at the screen?"

[His body is literally only a child, with the memories of an adult, it doesn't affect him much, after all there are many kids who are forced to be more mature than their peers. However, that does mean that the strength that he has now isn't going to stop growing. His soul is still split, but the thing is that being around you, it is helping him just by being around you]

"Then what about the nightmares? Is that affecting him other than his sleep?" Junko asked, still with her voice down as to not wake up Kon who is finally having his entire hair color white again.

[...To be honest I don't know. When I said his body was special I meant it. His soul is literally split into two, with each part becoming stronger. Both Light and Dark are the representations of his sanity and insanity, his wanting to do both good and bad. He keeps his insanity under control best he can, but is unstable with certain things at certain times causing him to go berserk. What sets him off at one point maybe won't do it the next, but then again what he was fine with before might set him off. He is literally a walking time bomb, and he already has the capability to corrupt things with his Dark side. He already did it before with one dimension]

"...Do you know what he is dreaming of? I want to know." Junko asked. Waiting with a face that said she wouldn't take no for an answer. Iroh gave her the info since he believed it would help, and regardless it was going to come out anyway sooner or later.

[He was dreaming of his family before he became the way he is now. He absolutely loved them, and wanted to do whatever he could to make them proud. He was trying his best, regardless of failing or succeeding, even though he tried his hardest, he was still compared to everyone else. When he felt like crying, he held it all inside so that he wouldn't show 'weakness' to anyone, that he was a strong person....It was causing him to go insane with trying to do anything to make them proud, regardless of how much it hurt. After so long of being compared, he snapped and he hurt his family. They snapped back, and with the guilt of hurting them he left with tears in his eyes, and when traveling back he couldn't see where he was going and got into an accident that caused his death. To be fair, I believe he is still in denial and shock, it has only been a little bit of time for him, far too little time for something like that, and then add on the dying and not being able to see those he loved the most ever again and with leaving like that...]

Junko in disbelief of what she was hearing, started to understand the one she was connected to a little more. Although it wasn't something that she wanted to hear per say, it was something regardless. Junko hugging Kon decided to just stay that way and pet his head as he slept. Kon smiling away, they both just decided to sit there and watch over the little one laying on top of Junko.

The nightmares didn't come back that night, and Kon slept peacefully.
