Mania POV
"H-Hello... My name is Nakamura Mania... I.. uh... I like playing games a-and spending time with my brother... P-Please take care of me..." I introduced myself, timidly playing with my fingers.
Looking around, I see that most of them either, aren't paying attention or are snickering under their breaths.
Feeling uncomfortable, I immediately sit down and make myself as small as possible.
"Ehem! All right! Now that the introductions are over and done with, we will be going over the schedule for your first semester." The teacher announced, attracting the attention of the rest of the class.
Sighing, I look over to my neighbour expecting them to also be paying attention to the teacher, only to be surprised as she's also glancing my way.
Making eye contact for a second, we both quickly turn away from each other.
'Why was she looking at me!? Did I do something weird?' I thought self-consciously.
After a few minutes of paying attention to the teacher, my neighbour decides to make the first move.
"Um..." She voiced, immediately getting my attention.
"Y-Yes?" I asked timidly.
After a few seconds of awkward silence, she continues.
"So... I'm Yoshika Saki, I'm pretty sure we went to the same Elementary school together, I'm not sure if you remember me, but it's nice seeing a familiar face." She said bashfully.
Looking her up and down, I try to remember if I remember her in any way.
Not being able to think of anything, I reply. "Y-Yes, I remember you... I-I'm surprized you remembered." with an awkward smile on my face.
"Heh, you don't have to lie you know? I'll be the first to admit I don't really stand out that much." She laughed, awkwardly playing with her braids.
Another moment of silence falls between us.
'Well... this is awkward...' I thought, inwardly cringing at the way my first day was going.
"Ehem, Yeah... um... S-So who was the person walking next to you while coming to school? And why were they wearing a boy's uniform?" She suddenly asked, bringing my mind to the new topic of the conversation. "Wait… that came off as really creepy, hehe, you don't have to answer if you don't want to." She awkwardly laughed, the hand that was playing with her braid moving faster than before.
'A nervous tick?' I thought in the back of my head.
"Oh! H-He's my little brother..." I said quietly, earning me a surprised look from her.
"Wow, so they really were a guy... now that's just unfair." She said, muttering the last bit…I probably wasn't supposed to hear that part.
*TACK!*
"OW! What was that for!" A boy yelled from the other side of the room, holding his forehead in pain.
"That! was for not paying attention in class!" The teacher voiced, " And it counts for everyone here! If I catch any of you slacking of! be prepared for a chalk to the forehead!" He finished, glaring at everyone around the class.
"Scarry..." I muttered, shrinking further into myself.
Looking to my side to see Yoshika-san's reaction, I was caught off guard when I saw her frozen in place, her eyes out of focus, the tips of her hair slightly changing color, and her trembling fingers getting a darker tint than the rest of her body.
"A-Are you alright, Yoshika-san?" I asked nervously, breaking her out of her trance, thankfully.
As she turned to face me, she kept taking deep and long breath, probably to calm herself.
After a what felt like minutes, her changed features quickly turned back to normal.
"I...I-uh...I'm... fine..." She said slowly, muttering it a few times to convince herself.
"And you! Hayato was it? I better not catch another peep from you, got it!" I heard the teacher say, Yoshika-san slightly flinching at the name.
"Yeah yeah, no problem teach." He said offhandedly. "My lips are sealed." He motioned a zipping gesture with his hand over his mouth.
Looking back at Yoshika-san, I can't help but get concerned at how she's shivering.
"A-Are you sure?" I asked, slowly thinking about what exactly I can do to help her with... whatever she was going through. "Do you want to go to the nurse's office?" I whispered, not wanting to be on the receiving end of the teacher's wrath.
"Y-Yeah...I'm sure...just...I just need to... think..." She said, turning away and staring off into space.
"U-Um... Okay?... Just tell me if you need help, okay?" Is aid, trying to put my brother's signature encouraging smile on my face.
"..."
Not getting a reply, my probably horrible smile slips off my face. An awkward one taking its place, soon to be overtaken by a sad one.
'Nice one Mania, way to mess that one up' Internally berating myself, I can't help but wonder what was going on with her. 'That was probably my only chance to get a friend to…'
'I hope she's okay...' I thought, before putting my full attention back on the teacher.

Saki POV
'WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT?!!!' I was freaking out.
'HOLY SH*T, HOLY SH*T, HOLY SH*THOLY SH*THOLY SH*THOLY SH*THOLY SH*THOLY SH*IT HOLY SHIT!!!!' A lot, I was freaking out a lot.
You might be wondering why I was reacting this way. Well, it had everything to do with my stupid power.
You see, as soon as I laid my eyes on Hayato *Shudder* I got the most vivid vision I've ever had.
When I first heard someone introduce themselves as Hayato in the class, I got a bad feeling in my stomach, but I didn't pay too much attention to it, assuming that I was just nervous.
But after looking at him for the first time, my body went into fight or flight reaction mode, just freezing at the choosing part.
It was only thanks to Nakamura-san that I managed to catch myself before I lost control and either ran away or rushed at him. The problem was I didn't know why?!
From the vision I saw, he approached me, complimented me, and even invited me on a date. ME!? Can you believe that? Me being asked out? Well, I sure couldn't.
But for the life of me, I couldn't understand why I was so afraid of him!? The vision just stopped at a karaoke place...
Getting my barings, I glance back at him, hoping to get another vision to explain what's going on, only to be disappointed with a slight flinch when I looked at him.
This is do weird... Am I crazy? Is that what's happening? Should I approach him to get more infor-
-NOOO!!!-
Surprised at the sudden voice in my head, my hair turned blonde instantaneously, catching the attention of the teacher, and the nearby student's
"Yes? Is there something you want to share with the class -" He pauses a bit, looking at a paper on his desk Miss Yoshika Saki?" He askes.
"N-No sir! I-I just have problems controlling my mutation sometimes..." I replied, slowly changing my hair back to it's usual color.
"Hmnn... Alright." He hummed, marking something down on his notepad. "Be sure to get a better hold on your mutation Miss Yoshida, it is quite distracting for your fellow students.
"Aw c'mon! I get chalk thrown at me, and she just gets a pass? How's that fair!" Hayato complained from across the room, earning a glare from the teacher.
While the teacher was busy scolding Hayato, I could hear the whispers from around the room.
Things like "She can't control her mutation?" "I know right? Like, is she 10 or something?" "It looks like a pretty stupid mutation " "She looks like your typical otaku too." "Bet she doesn't have any friends." "Idiot." "Loser." And so on, I think I would be much more effected if it wasn't for my mind going a mile a minute to try and figure out that voice.
'It happened when I wanted to try and talk to Hayato-' As I was thinking, the voice interrupted me again.
-No! nononononononononononononono NO!!-
Startled, I flinch and shrink into myself.
"Ha! She flinched!" "Must've struck a nerve." She's even shrinking into herself." "Bet she's gonna cry in the bathroom." "Or run home to watch anime to make herself feel better." As a group of student's snickered to themselves, I was having a mental war with myself.
'Am I really crazy!? What even was that?! Is this part of my stupid power? What type of garbage powers give you voices in your head!? Okay! Calm down! Breath!' Breathing in deeply to calm myself, I catch the tail end of Nakamura-san's concerned voice.
"-urse's office?" I heard, piecing together that she was probably asking me to go to the nurse's office again.
"No... I'm good..." I replied absentmindedly.
Looking over at her, I see a serious expression fall on her face.
"No... we're going to go at lunch, even if I have to force you." She said resolutely, catching me by surprise with her change in demeanor.
Looking her in the eye for a few seconds, I just sigh in resignation, knowing that I won't be getting out of this.
"...Fine..." I muttered, turning away from her.
If only I knew what was going through her head, I might have protested a bit more.
'Yes! I finished my mission Chi-chan!' Mania internally rejoiced, completing the task her brother gave her, and hopefully getting her reward early.
What was the task you ask? Well, the task was to make a friend... a one-sided friendship also counts as friendship, right?
