Chapter 76 Mellisa is alive

It has been a full five days since Linda's funeral, and yet the situation has only worsened. Maxwell has recently discovered that it was none other than Zick's younger sister who had been living abroad all this time, only to return with a so-called "revenge." Can you believe the audacity? Did she have any idea how cruel her brother truly was?

Maxwell's eyes bore into the young lady sitting before him, her hands tied tightly behind her back. She was a blonde girl with piercing blue eyes, but her appearance did nothing to sway Maxwell's opinion of her.

"So, you killed my daughter?" Maxwell's voice was cold and unforgiving, his disapproval palpable. The air in the room grew heavy with tension.

The young lady remained silent, her eyes downcast.

Maxwell continued, his tone growing even more gloomy. "Your brother and grandmother are the reason why my wife died. They abused her physically, emotionally, and mentally. And yet, even then, I did not kill them. I gave them the option to survive, but they chose to end their own lives. And yet, you killed my daughter without even knowing the whole truth. Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you. "

"I'm talking to you damn it!!!" Maxwell bellowed with a tone of utter disgust, causing the young girl to tremble in fear.

"I'm sorry, please forgive me," the girl stuttered, her voice quivering with apprehension.

"Will you be sorry enough to bring back my daughter?" Maxwell asked icily, his eyes piercing through her soul. "I'll spare you this time, but mark my words, if I catch you anywhere near my family again, I won't hesitate to end your life. And believe me, I will." With that, Maxwell stood up from his chair, glared at her one last time, and stormed out of the basement.

He had contemplated killing her, but the thought of his beloved Mellisa's face stopped him from doing something he would regret. Feeling exasperated, he decided to visit his mall to check on things. His men were taking care of Lydia, Zick's sister, and he didn't have the energy to argue with anyone. Work was the only solution to bury his pain.

All of them arrived at the mall after a few minutes. The driver hastily got out of the car and opened the door for Maxwell, who then entered the mall. The workers, who recognized him as the owner of the mall, greeted him with respect. However, Maxwell's mood changed when he saw a group of people gathered in one of the shops. He frowned and decided to investigate. Two young boys were sitting on a small couch where people usually fit their shoes, while two sales ladies were on their knees in front of them, seemingly apologizing.

"Can you believe it? These spoiled brats dare to call us rude and now they want our forgiveness? It's ridiculous," one of the boys exclaimed.

"Watch out, our mommy will teach you a lesson you won't forget," the other boy threatened.

"Holy Moly, these sales ladies are so rude! There's nothing in this shop that I want. I need to meet the shop owner right now before I call my mommy," a small girl complained.

"Please forgive us, we didn't know that your mom was someone so powerful, please forgive us."

"Please don't call your mom or the shop owner, we will lose our jobs." The two sales ladies begged.

"So, in this shop, you treat people differently based on their status? Would you have insulted us if we didn't have a powerful mother?" The body's tone dripped with disdain.

"My mother taught me that all people are equal, regardless of their wealth or social standing. How dare you discriminate against customers in this establishment? People like you make children cry with your narrow-mindedness." The other boy's voice was filled with disgust.

"Please forgive us. We won't do it again. We depend on this job," the shop employee pleaded.

"Mexico and Maxson, forgive them already. Let's go before Mommy scolds us for causing a scene," a small girl on the floor said.

"No, we want to speak to the shop owner. This kind of discrimination should never happen again," Maxson and Maxico exclaimed in unison.

"Mommy is going to scold us for this. We should leave," a small girl named Melina said.

"No, we want justice," the two boys declared, their voices filled with disapproval, other kids who were in the shop joined them and they started shouting the same thing

"We want justice!!"

"We want justice!!!"

The workers in the shop stood there, helpless and paralyzed with fear as they witnessed a group of other kids joining the three troublemakers. They were all too aware that if their boss found out about this, they would be out of a job in a heartbeat. The boss had become so unforgiving in recent years that he would not hesitate to fire them all at once. With no other options, they all went down on their knees to beg for forgiveness, but the kids were relentless and refused to stop.

Maxwell couldn't help but smile as he watched these small kids fighting for equality for other children, despite their wealthy backgrounds. It was a good thing to teach young children such a valuable lesson, but it was all for naught.

"I am the owner of this mall," Maxwell announced, everyone's attention was already on him. Maxico, Maxson, and Malina all turned their backs to the entrance and climbed down onto the couch.

Maxwell's eyes widened in shock, his knees weakened to the point where he almost fell down. He managed to hold onto the wall for support. He looked at the two boys who had just climbed down from the couch. The first one looked exactly like his father, with blue eyes, a small nose, a round face, and black hair. The second boy looked exactly like him, with deep brown eyes and coal black hair cut short, just like his. His heart started racing when he saw a small girl who looked exactly like his Mellisa. These kids? Who were they? Why did they look like all the people close to his heart? Could it be that Mellisa was still alive? No!!! That was impossible. He had buried her 5 years ago. But these kids, they looked like they were the same age and height. What was happening here?

Before he could understand anything, a lady ran past him and went straight to the three kids.

"What is this scene that you are causing here? Didn't I tell you to stay in the car?" A lady's voice echoed through the mall.

Maxwell was convinced that the universe was mocking him, and he couldn't help but feel a surge of tears welling up in his eyes. To his utter disbelief, the voice he heard belonged to none other than Mellisa. Wasn't she supposed to be dead? Her voice explained everything to him, but how could it be? He buried her five years ago.

"Come on, let's go. You three never listen to me," she said, carrying a little girl in her arms while the two boys trailed behind her. When she turned around to face the entrance, Maxwell saw her face. It was her, his Mellisa. But now, she looked more mature.

"Mellisa," Maxwell called out softly, but everyone heard him, including Mellisa, who stopped in her tracks.

"Excuse me, how do you know my name? And why are you crying? Do I know you?" she asked.

Maxwell felt like his world had shattered into a million pieces, and he felt a sharp pang right through his heart. His Mellisa didn't recognize him. Before he could say anything, his Grandma walked past him, heading towards Mellisa. The two boys ran towards her and hugged her.

"Granny," they hugged her. Maxwell felt like the biggest fool in the world. How could he not have known that his grandmother was behind everything? He had cried for five years, thinking that Mellisa was dead. She didn't even care to inform him that Mellisa was alive and that his children were alive. Why didn't Mellisa recognize him? Could it be that she had memory loss after her surgery? Without wanting to be seen in such a terrible state by his children, Maxwell quickly ran out of the shop, tears welling out of his eyes. Reaching outside, he got inside the car and instructed the driver to take him home straight. He wasn't going to spare his grandmother for playing a fool out of him, but he needed to gather his emotions and face Mellisa once again. Gosh, his children survived. He was both happy and hurt. How could his grandmother do such a thing? And every time he wanted to visit her, she would always refuse.
