CHAPTER 02

The sun hung up above. Its tepid light sweeps the sky and lands like a wildfire. Several clouds move by at a constant speed. The spring breeze blows past the cherry blossom trees. Flowers fell like snow in winter, coating the road with pink petals, and their fragrance wafted in the wind.

The roar of vehicles rumbles on the highway, and the clacking and kicking of shoes and sandals rings on the busy lane. The birds are busy searching for food, and the dogs are strolling enthusiastically in the park with their owners.

His feet push as they lie atop the pedals, the chain and wheels function swiftly at a steady pace, and the wind brushes his hair and face as ZhengYu rides his bicycle. He gasps for air as he moves to fuel his lungs. His heart and pulse beat rapidly from excessive action.

His apartment is only a street away from his campus. Riding his bike, it will take him twenty minutes before he arrives at the campus gate.

At the gate stood two bodyguards. The university is big. Next to the guard office is a parking lot. There are two facilities, one facing the south and the other facing the west. In the middle is an oversized sports field. Opposite the east building is a large indoor garden with a fountain in the middle. There are trees with wooden benches surrounding the area.

The north building has seven floors. On the top floor are the school director's office and the professor's headquarters. There are also two meeting rooms, for the instructors and the student officers. From the sixth to the fourth floor is the lecture room for seniors. The space is divided equally by institute. On the third floor is where the arts and films made by the students are exhibited. From sketches to paintings, from short films to documentaries, it was displayed based on the category. On the second floor, there is a theater room and a library. On the bottom floor is the cafeteria, courts for basketball and volleyball, and an indoor swimming pool.

On the contrary, in the east building, there are five floors in total. The fifth to the third floor is the study room for freshmen, divided equally by course. The second floor is where the history of the school can be comprehended, from its founding to this year. The books were compartmentalized by year. There are also medals and trophies displayed which represent the school's achievements and victories from the beginning to the present time. On the bottom floor is the cafeteria and a library.

ZhengYu arrived at the gate sweating and panting. He scurried to the bicycle area to park his bike. After locking the back wheel with a chain, he sprints towards the east building.

His bag swings along with his body as he runs as fast as he can. He almost stumbled on the stairs. There are only five minutes left before the class starts.

Crap! I hope I'll make it on time.

Puffing and huffing, ZhengYu abruptly opened the door. His eyes scanned the room. Seeing that everyone was still lively and clamoring, he heaved a sigh of relief.

" ZhengYu, here. "

A voice not too far away rings in ZhengYu's ear. He traced the origin of the sound before his gaze landed on a young man who was waving at him.

The young man sits in the left corner. His eyes are big and round, lively and full of colors. His nose is pointed, and his lips are plump and red. His skin is as white as porcelain and his hair as bright as sienna.

As his eyes fell on his friend, his lips curved in a smile. He paced in his direction.

" You made it on time. " JunHie said.

" Yeah, " ZhengYu replied whilst sitting next to him.

Not a minute had passed, and the room went silent. It was frightening, making everyone sweat and tremble. It's like we're in the middle of an abandoned cemetery. Each person in the room sat still and did not move even an inch. If no one looks closely, they might think it isn't a person, but a mannequin, as everyone seems like they have stopped breathing. Even their eyes are fixed on the front.

Not long after, each student flinched as they felt an intimidating aura. No sound can be heard other than shoes tapping on the floor. Each step is like a countdown before the execution and when it stops, death awaits.

Standing in the front, his gaze fell on every face inside the room, familiarizing and studying each expression. Sweats gushing out, fears and nervousness invade their souls. Those gazes are like arrows that once you put down your defense, will pierce through you. No one blinks even for a second.

" I see that everyone is present. Let's start the class. " The old professor spoke.

Professor Chen's class feels like forever. The words that came out of his mouth were similar to those of a poison, traveling from the ears and gradually devouring the brain till no cells were left. His eyes make everyone freeze. It's like they are in the middle of the water surrounded by ice. His movement makes each learner hold their breath, thinking if they breathe the teacher will call them and let them answer a question or two.

The time ran slowly like a sloth or a snail. The students became restless, wishing for the bell to buzz, and praying for the lesson to end earlier.

It was tense.

The bell finally rang. Each brow of the students eventually relaxed, some even sighed in relief. The once gloomy expression slowly brightened.

They survived. Again, they survived this terrifying instructor. The subject is fine, the only problem is the evil educator who won't hesitate to fail a student without batting an eye.

" Class ended. Study what I taught you today. By tomorrow, we'll have an oral recitation to see if you listen. Class dismissed. "

Whines and curses echoed in the room. After Professor Chen left, complaints and swears rushed out of each person's mouth. Like in a public market, it became noisy as they spoke one after another.

But, it can't be helped, the evil professor's subject is a must for them to get a degree. They can't graduate if they fail, so they can only endure the lecturer and try their best to prevail.

ZhengYu took a long sigh. He is not smart nor dumb. As long as he studies or listens to the lesson, he can pass the test or answer the professor's question. But, in the entire class, he is zoning out. The dream he dreamed that night keeps replaying in his mind. He can't focus on what the educator teaches, it's like his voice faded from afar, and he can't hear him anymore.

It was obvious that he was troubled by that bizarre dream.
