My Heart and Seoul (4): Pretty Girl

Jaehyun's POV

"Phew alright guys we are done for the day!" Lamon stayed making us all cheer.

We've been doing dance practice all day, and now I'm sweaty and gross.

"I want some foooooood." Daehyun moaned from his face down position on the floor. I just laughed and poked him with my foot much to his annoyance.

"Did you hear that we're getting caretakers?" Yamato called out from the other side of the practice room.

Ah the caretaker thing. They're gonna be in charge of health and well-being, and work alongside everyone else in our team. I hope whoever gets the job can deal with five crackheads and myself. Laughing lightly at my inner thoughts I quickly snap a selfie of myself to post on Instagram. I took one of Daehyun sprawled like a starfish too.

"Imagine if it's that pretty girl Jaehyun's been thinking about." Minjae spoke quietly. Minjae isn't really a talker but what he says is either thoughtful and profound or weird. There's almost no in between. Once he gets comfortable with someone he's just as crazy as the rest of us though.

But damn if it's her that would be one hell of a coincidence. She had a strange accent, not really British but I can't place it. I wish I could've spoken to her properly but I guess that's how things just roll....

"Come on let's get some fried chicken!" I suggested making Seungho and Lamon cheer. I really don't get how Lamon is the oldest out of us sometimes.

Laughing we made our way out of the studio building and headed down the road to our favourite restaurant. On the way Minjae tripped over and was two seconds away from falling into a trash can but Daehyun caught him. And of course being a caring friend I took a photo. During our walk I was looking brought Instagram and froze when I heard a voice.

"Those fish shaped buns were really good!"

Turning around I tried to locate the familiar sounding voice. The guys stopped and looked back once they noticed I wasn't following along. Looking across the street there was a pretty girl in hijab next to a food stall. But next to her was the girl who has been on my mind for the past week.

Her hair was different it wasn't this mix of different shades of red but it looked absolutely amazing on her. She seemed to be friends with the other girl as they were laughing and talking together.

"Earth to Jae? Anyone there?" Daehyun waved his hand in front of me snapping me out of my slight trance. Looking in my direction he noticed the girls as well.

"What are you looki- oh is it her?" It finally clicked for him and he looked at me with wide eyed curiosity.

"Yeah it is! I don't know how she's in Seoul though." I spoke looking at her once again. They were still chatting together and hadn't looked in our direction.

"Guys guys look it's the pretty girl Jae was talking about!" Daehyun said loudly and I cringed trying to cover his mouth.

The girls turned to our direction. Shit I don't want them to notice our existence. If there's any moment that I wished for the ground to swallow me up it's now.

Lamon and Seungho immediately rushed over to look, and even waved at the girls. I could just die of embarrassment now. I can see it at my funeral they'd say "he died of a embarrassing moment". Thankfully she only awkwardly smiled at us and walked away with her friend.

"She's so pretty, Jae-hyung why didn't you go up to her?" Seungho said. Maybe because she doesn't know who I am and has forgotten our entire encounter. It's probably for the best because if she didn't know I was an idol.

Rae's POV

Those fish shaped buns really were good. But I can feel the stares of some boys from across the street. That and Lishi pointed them out for me.

"Either they're hungry and looking at the fish buns or they've never seen a foreigner before." Lishi said laughing. I chuckles as well sending the boys an awkward smile before we chucked out tissues in the trash and headed back home.

One boy looked really cute, and familiar. I swear it's on the tip of my tongue but I just can't figure out exactly where I've seen him before.

We also ran some errands before we decided to go home. Including getting a new sim plan because our old ones don't work in Korea, and some clothes plus a new laptop for myself. We got some clothes because we did a massive clear out so we wouldn't bring too much stuff over, so we brought over the bare minimum. And the laptop was because my beloved laptop of six years took its last breath and died out before we came here.

"Let's get home, I'll be working on my stories." I said checking the time. About 2:30pm. Wow we stood outside the stall for a while. The owner was such a nice old lady and her husband was hilarious.

Oh yes the stories. I'm a writer in my spare time. I'm writing two books in my spare time one is a Chinese manhua inspired book, the other is a rom-com. I love writing it's always cleared my head and made me feel ten times better. I always listen to music whilst I write my chapters out. Whatever I'm listening to is usually the main theme of the chapter, if it's a sad-ish song it influences my writing sometimes. I publish my stuff on a social writing platform called Lightbook, my work has gotten a small amount of readers for now so I'm just continuing to post new chapters when I can. My last one was during my flight here I used the plane wifi. Although I had to edit it on my phone because of the laptop situation.

When we got home Seohyun wasn't there, because her work day ends at 8. I decided to open Lightbook and see if I could get more work done. Lishi went to the shops to grab some snacks that Seohyun and I forgot about yesterday. My time was spread between looking at memes and writing. I know I flew halfway across the world to look at memes and write fantasy amazing isn't it? Laughing at myself my phone which was charging on the other side of the room went off playing NCT 127's Touch, my current ringtone. I change it every once in a while and right now I really love this song. I noticed the number was an unknown Korean one so it's probably Jisoo calling back.

"여보세요?" I answered. Sometimes I forget I'm on the phone with someone I swear it's a bad habit of mine but it happens.

"Hello is this Rae Leven?" Jisoo's voice was clearly heard. Hm I guess since we spoke mostly in English during the interview she's speaking in English now as well. Not her fault I did start speaking in English without really noticing. It's usually because I'm so used to formal business English in interviews. I should work on that... hm. Oh wait I'm on the phone!

"Yes I'm Rae." I replied curious to what she has to say.

"We at Double B Entertainment are delighted to offer you a job as the SNOW group's caretaker. When are you able to start?" I dropped my phone when she said that but I narrowly managed to catch it before it fell to the ground. Holding the phone back up to my ear I replied to her with my barely contained excitement.

"Thank you very much for this opportunity, I'm available as soon as possible." I tried keeping my voice steady but some excitement leaked out causing it to raise by an octave.

"Alright we will see you tomorrow at 8am. Have a good evening." She abruptly cut the call after that.

Once the call disconnected I couldn't hold it in anymore and screamed in excitement. Lishi walked in with a bag of snacks and stopped to look at my ridiculous happy dance. I looked like a flailing chicken. I pulled her in and started dancing with her. She joined in out of confusion and was laughing the entire time. I managed to trip over the coffee table and land on the couch face first.

"What was that about?" Lishi said in between laughing at me.

"I got the job! I got the freaking job!" I cheered. This must be a good omen, things are going so well! I feel like I have to pinch myself to wake up from a dream like state.

"Congratulations!" Lishi exclaimed happily. I can always count on her to hype me up and vice versa. We've always just been each other's biggest supporters since our teen years.

"Wait till you get your call! You should have gotten the job too!" And right as I said that her phone went off. Her ringtone was Blood, Sweat and Tears by BTS. I had introduced her to it and after a little it all snowballed into this. We're both big fans, although we branch out and appreciate other groups and solo artists.

"Psychic much?" Lishi laughed with a raised eyebrow and picked up her phone. I simply poked her and gave her a knowing smile. Apparently I can predict this stuff.

Lishi hung up after a minute and turned to me with a giant grin. We both started doing the happy dance again in which I once again tripped over the damn coffee table. Lishi took picture of my misery this time around though laughing so much I could see the tears in her eyes.

That night I decided to go big with our dinner as a celebration. I made various things like Lishi's favourite dessert chocolate fudge cake, Seohyun's and my favourite fried chicken. We ate a lot that night and barely got to our respective beds before dropping into a food coma. I managed to put an alarm on though so I'd wake up on time. I had a very strange dream though.

I was a little girl, with pig tails and I was wearing a black dress with pink flowers. I was sitting on the floor of an office playing with building blocks and sipping on juice. A woman who looked like me was sitting on the couch looking stressed and upset whilst a man was comforting her. I couldn't make out much of what was being said but I heard one sentence clearly.

"It's okay nothing will happen."

I woke up in a cold sweat and got up with a start. What the heck did I just see? A past memory of sorts? And what was "nothing will happen" Jesus my mind is a mess. My breathing was a little heavy but I sat up in my futon. Lishi and I slept on futons in the living room since Seohyun's room is way too small for her bed plus two more. I saw it looked like it was still a little dark and checked the time. It was about 6:03am.

I couldn't go back to sleep no matter how hard I tried so after a few minutes I just decided to freshen up, get dressed and make breakfast. I also decided to pack everyone a lunch for today.

Leftover fried chicken from dinner last night, some rice and veggies. And a little bit of cake that we couldn't finish. By the time I was done the alarm went at 7 and Lishi rose zombie style to turn it off. Without a word she dragged herself to the bathroom tiredly. Jet lag is still getting to her because we've only been here two days but she also gets woken up really easily. A trait that Lishi really dislikes because she can get woken up by anything I'm actually surprised she even slept on the flight here. As for me I can sleep probably anywhere.

We ate the breakfast I made and I left an extra portion for Seohyun, because she starts later so she's still asleep. I just waited a few minutes and Lishi was ready so we headed out to the building we were at last time. We had plenty of time to spare so we took our time walking and even had a conversation with an ajumma who complimented us on our looks, she was sweet. We made it to the building and signed in, the reception lady had passes with our names on it already there for us. Temporary staff passes until we get our official ones.

"Let's go up Yoojin said we'll sign our contracts and then meet the boys." Lishi said double checking her outfit.

She looked amazing though, she had on black slacks and a pastel blue blouse. I went for a black professional skirt and a pastel green blouse and white polka dots. It looks better than you think it does. Mine was a button up blouse and Lishi's wasn't. She wore 4 inch black heels with her outfit whilst I stuck with my professional black 2 1/2 inch heeled boots. I'll trip and die in anything over 4 inches but I've seen Lishi in 6 inch dagger heels and run before. I'd twist and snap off my ankle if I tried that.

We signed our contracts, ours both lasting a year with an end of year check to see if we wanted to continue to work there if nothing  goes wrong. If we did we can renew it for either another year or more.

So we headed to the practice rooms on the other side of the building to meet the boys. Lishi went into Practice Room 3 to meet Sync whilst I went into Practice Room 6 to meet SNOW. Stepping inside I was greeted with some music playing and several boys engaged in a dance routine. They stopped, but the music continued playing as they turned around.

Oh it's the boys from yesterday. Who would've known.

Jaehyun's POV

It's her again. Holy shit.
