“I'm sorry that happened. It was all my fault” Zoe said, turning towards Dylan and examining his face.
Dylan appeared distraught. Yet, Zoe could tell that there was not an ounce of anger in his body.
“This is not your fault. This is Kyle’s fault, for treating you like a piece of property” Dylan said, sounding annoyed, but still not angry.
Zoe sighed. Dylan was simply trying to take the blame off her so she didn’t feel bad. But in reality, this was all her fault. She had been the one to spend time with Kyle once he came back to town, and she had been the one to entertain the thought of them being together. Kyle had come here because she showed him interest.
“I don’t want us to spend even a moment longer thinking of him, Zoe. This evening is about us, and what we have. I don’t want him to come between it” Dylan said.
