The Hots at the Water Gym

After the conversation with Scarlet, we were guided to a room by Misty.

Ash-"Hey Misty! When did you call your mom?"

Misty-"When we were at Pewter City and you had gone off to train our Pokemon. Be careful when you battle her. She doesn't normally battle as it is difficult for her to hold back. That's why my sisters were running the Gym."

Ash-"Thanks Misty! You know I love strong battles. Btw, you don't need to hold back while telling your Mom about Skyreon. It would be an unfair advantage and I don't want that. I could see that you're troubled by my statement. I'll make one thing clear Misty. I invited you to come with me and I'm definitely not going to be even a tiny bit displeased about you telling your mom about my pokemon when I told you to do so."

Misty-"Thanks, Ash!"

And then she gave me a quick peck on my cheek before running away bashfully.

Robin-"Someone's in love!"

Ash-"You jealous?"

Robin instantly turned red and looked too cute to resist.

I attacked her.

And tickled her.

What were you thinking? Get your mind out of nasty thoughts.

Anyway, I gave her a hug and a peck on her cheek as well, which caused her head to steam and she passed out.

Sighing, I put her on her bed and went out to train Feebas and Skyreon.

Arcanine? He was in the time chamber and would be out the next morning.

THIRD PERSON POV- WITH SCARLET

After giving her daughters an earful, she waited for Misty to come back from guiding the boy and his retinue to their room.

Misty came into the room, looking a bit shy.

Scarlet-"Ooooh! So my little mermaid found her prince charming."

Misty-"Mouuu! You tease me! I won't tell you anything now."

Scarlet-"Sigh! So my daughter loves her Prince more than me. Sniff..."

Misty-"MOM! I love you! Really."

Scarlet-"Really?"

Misty nodded her head but still looked a bit red now, as she hadn't denied anything about Ash.

Scarlet ruffled Misty's hair and said, "You don't need to tell me if you don't want to. I can't have my daughter destroy her first love because of a Gym battle."

Misty-"It's not like that mom. Ash told me to tell you everything I knew about his Pokemon. He said that it would be unfair without that. I also agree with that."

Scarlet-"Being knowledgable and being strong are two different things Misty. And I doubt his knowledge as well. He's going to use an Arcanine!"

Misty-"Don't underestimate him, mom. Like not even one bit. He had earned a friendship with Ho-oh. A close one at that. And all of his pokemon except Feebas, Pidgeoto, Skyreon, and a ghost type Spookeon, have battled Ho-oh. And it took Ho-oh 1 hour each to defeat Pikachu and Arcanine! Can you do that Mom?"

Scarlet-"How do you know if it's true or not? Maybe he's just showing off!"

Misty-"Ho-oh handed a letter to Ash personally, blaming him for setting up Ho-oh as the reason for a massive thunderstorm, which was actually caused by his Pikachu's and Raikou's battle."

Scarlet-"Hold it! You said that the thunderstorm was caused by him! Wasn't that caused by Ho-oh and Zapdos battling? And again how do you know if it's true or not?"

Misty-"I was there. It happened in front of me. Ash cooked up that lie in front of Officer Jenny. Oh! My bike got destroyed by a thunderbolt. Sorry, Mom."

Scarlet-"Ok! But if he's friends with Ho-oh, why did he blame Ho-oh?"

Misty-"Ash and Ho-oh aren't just casual friends. Ho-oh visits Ash's mother often. And Ash blamed Ho-oh because Ho-oh didn't allow Ash to see his Pokemon battling Ho-oh. It was more like a brawl between very close friends. He even cursed Ho-oh as he flew by us."

Scarlet-"You saw that!"

Misty nodded in reply.

Misty-"Now for his pokemon.

Skyreon - He's a wind type Pokemon. Unlike flying types who use their wings and feathers to control the wind, Skyreons control is like mind control. The winds are controlled by him. He can bend the wind to do his doing anyway. His control is fine enough to carve out rocks precisely. He was able to cut out fossils from rocks without damaging the rocks as well as fossils.

He can make out tornadoes and then shape them like a knife if need be. Also, don't depend on psychic too much. The wind is immune to it. Also, he's very fast. At his fastest, he can burn the ground he's running on. In the pokemon center training area, the soil turned to glass due to the heat.

Feebas- I think you know about her. I didn't though. Is it true that Feebas evolves into one of the most beautiful Pokemon?"

Scarlet-"It's true. I can say that Milotic is the most beautiful Pokemon."

Misty-"Ah! You made the same mistake I did. Ash said that there is no absolute perfect. Just good and better."

Scarlet-"He is a smart guy if he thinks like that. But it still doesn't justify his Arcanine."

Misty-"That's the second mistake you made. Don't use stereotypes for judging. Did you observe his Arcanine? Properly?"

Scarlet-"What's there to observe? Except that he's bi... His feet, They didn't make any sound or ripple on the water!"

Misty-"You went into that fine difference but didn't see something more visible. His fur. It's colored greenish-blue!"

Scarlet-"So what? He ain't a shiny!"

Misty-"He's worse than shiny! He's a fire-wind dual type. His control over fire and wind is beyond absurd. Ash had told me that at his full power, he can melt down an entire building covered with ice into molten lava.

And he's fast. Faster than you can imagine. His and Pikachu's speed is like teleportation. I've seen it beforehand.

And don't even think about covering the gym in steam to hide. According to Ash, as long as wind exists in this world, it'll obey Arcanine's command.

Btw, Skyreon has the powers of a dragon. It's not a dragon type but Ash said that he would soon become a wind-dragon dual type."

Scarlet (smiling like a battle junkie)- "That's interesting! Seems like I can hope to go all out."

Misty-"You better go all out. The womanizer guy who tried to propose to you is Brock, the previous trainer of Pewter city Gym."

Scarlet-"So Flint came back? That's good. The kid always wanted to be a breeder. So?"

Misty-"Ash defeated him when Brock brought out his strongest Pokemon, Golem, Onix, and Steelix, that actually belonged to Flint. Ash took out the team with a Feebas and a Steelix only. So yeah, when he said that he's got the strength to back up his confidence, he meant that."

Scarlet was amazed by the picture of Ash that Misty had painted in her mind.

The mother-daughter duo had a long talk that night.

It was going to be an entertaining battle.

THE NEXT DAY- (ASH POV)

The next day, I, Robin, and Brock arrived at the battle area of the Gym for me to face against Scarlet, Misty's mom.

Scarlet-" You were brave enough to let Misty tell me all about your Pokemon. I commend you for that. But! What if you lose?"

Ash-"If I lose, I lose. That's it. I'll train to become stronger again."

Misty-"Okay now! The challenger is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, challenging Cerulean City Gym leader Scarlet for Cascade Badge. The Battle will be 3-on-3. Both challenger and Gym Leader can swap Pokemon. The first one to lose 3 Pokemon loses."

Now, it's time for battle.

The battle begins (S stands for Scarlet and A for Ash)

S-"Golduck, I chose you"

A-"Skyreon, time to fly"

S-"Confusion"

A-"Aerial body"

The confusion couldn't affect Skyreon as the wind became a part of Skyreon's body.

S-"Tch! water pulse"

A-"Wind Bullet"

The water pulse got knocked out by the wind bullet which then proceeded to hit Golduck.

A-"Can we get serious? Misty should have told you everything so why are you testing again."

S-"You got it, kid"

Then she did something very serious.

Taking off her jacket and tying it on her waist.

So cool!

S-"Aqua jet and follow with Aqua Tail"

A-"Supersonic and follow by iron fist"

And Skyreon disappeared from his position, leaving a trail on the surface of the water and then gave a punch onto Golduck's face, which missed as Scarlet's Golduck was a strong and experienced one.

However, that was only the beginning. Skyreon was giving punches upon punches onto Golduck who dodged most of the time and sometimes got hit, but after a while, he started counterattacking.

A-"SD wing slash"

S-"Cross Chop"

Both the moves canceled out.

After that, we started a continuous fast-paced battle. Golduck dived into the water and Skyreon took to the air. Both of them moved at very fast speeds again I had to focus aura onto my eyes to fight.

Golduck landed a punch onto Skyreon, who landed an SD wing slash onto Golduck.

Golduck fired a whirlpool which was countered by aero blade tornado from Skyreon. Here the disadvantage the wind type had against water-type became visible. A lot of power of the tornado was absorbed into the whirlpool which was still able to hit Skyreon.

Skyreon then fired off an SD Roar which shattered Golduck's Aqua Jet but it took him a minute to do that and he was visibly tired upon ending the roar. But Golduck didn't give him a chance and hit him with an ice punch.

The ice punch slowed down Skyreon and I could see a smirk on Scarlet's face.

Now, something serious. No, not the cap thing.

Ash-"Dragon's feed"

Skyreon started devouring the air, which shocked Scarlet.

S-"Don't let him finish! Hydro Pump"

But just as the hydro pump approached Skyreon, a tornado covered him which blew the hydro pump apart.

A-"Now, Dragon Force."

Skyreon glowed and scaly feathers covered his ears, shoulders, and limbs. The Back limbs attained longer feather attachments and forelimbs attained scaly claws.

A-"Now Talons"

Skyreon disappeared from his position and the next thing, Golduck was being pummeled by Skyreon's talons. The ice caused by the ice punch had shattered and Skyreon was back to his top speed. Golduck dived into the water again, but this time an aero blade tornado hit the pool hard and a whirlpool appeared which threw out Golduck. However, Golduck jumped into the whirlpool and used the speed of the whirlpool to increase his own speed.

This caused a turn of tides again as the speed advantage was slowly disappearing.

However, the change didn't last much longer as Skyreon, being a pokemon fickle like the wind, changed his style abruptly to a full power knockout with Golduck.

Golduck was about to put a Giga Impact Home when Skyreon countered with a Sky Dragon's demolition fist. The attack broke down the entire energy buildup in Golduck's body and left him visibly injured.

Skyreon went all out. It stopped waiting and anytime between the exchange of blows was the time of firing a barrage of wind blades onto Golduck, who could no longer use speed as whenever he got out a barrage would be waiting for him.

The exchange of blows kept going on and on

Giga impact vs SD headbutt

Mega Punch vs Iron Fist

Mega Kick vs SD talons

Hyper Beam vs dragon pulse

Ice punch vs Wing slash

Aqua Jet vs SD Roar

Golduck didn't even get to perform a rain dance that was stopped by Skyreon's barrage of wind blades.

Both of them were getting tired but refused to let go.

S-"Now! Full power aqua jet."

A-"SD kings demolition fist"

The wind collected in Skyreon's claws and took the shape of a dragon. The pressure of the wind became so high that it became visible.

Then the fist connected with Golduck's aqua jet, which shattered upon contact, and the dragon of the demolition fist ate up Golduck.

I mean it covered Golduck, who received uncountable blows inside, finally to fall out unconscious.

Skyreon ate up some more air before dispelling dragon force and returning to the supports on the pool, visibly very tired, but still standing.

Misty announced the result.

"Golduck is unable to battle. Skyreon wins."

S-"Good job Golduck! Now, Gyarados"

Scarlet released a massive red Gyarados.

I recalled Skyreon as wind attacks won't hurt the scales of Gyarados without Dragon Force and Skyreon was too tired for that.

A-"Feebas, it's your turn"

S/A-"Tackle"

To everyone's amazement, including mine, Feebas and Gyarados were even in physical strength and defense. None of them budged an inch as they struck against each other. It was followed by a series of physical clashes where Feebas and Gyarados stood equal.

I never thought that physical training could make Feebas that powerful.

A-"Mud shot"

S-"Muddy water"

Gyarados muddy water destroyed Feebas' mud shot and proceeded to hit Feebas.

A-"Dodge and dragon breath"

Feebas showed intense agility in the water and easily dodged Gyarados' attack and countered with a powerful dragon breath which was countered by a powerful hydro pump.

The hydro pump destroyed the dragon breath and hit Feebas before she could dodge and she landed on one of the supports for standing. She struggled to levitate but did manage to land in the water again.

A-"Dragon pulse"

S-"Dodge then twister."

Too bad for Gyarados, Feebas didn't just fire off one dragon pulse, but a series of them which didn't allow Gyarados to dodge, much less go for the twister.

But, the attacks of Feebas weren't causing any significant damage to Gyarados.

A-"Aqua Jet"

Feebas struck Gyarados with Aqua jet, which caused Gyarados to fall back a bit, but I had forgotten to take Gyarados' size into account.

S-"Iron Tail"

The solid iron tail struck Feebas squarely and she was launched in the air before falling on the pedestal again. This time it looked like Feebas was down.

But she glowed!

Finally!

Her length increased and she sprouted long eyebrows in the shape of antennae and grew long ears and finally grew a very beautiful scaly tail. Somehow she was as long as Gyarados who was 10 meters long.

Heck Yeah!

Now it's time for some serious action.

A-"Milotic dragon breath"

S-"Hyper Beam"

This time, however, the dragon breath stood equal with the hyper beam, and a small explosion was set off.

A/S-"Iron tail"

A/S-"Giga impact"

A/S-"Blizzard"

A/S-"Twister"

All the moves till now were equally matched, but the twister was different. Milotic's twister was more powerful compared to Gyarados and hit him hard.

It was the first time during our battle that Gyarados had taken commendable damage.

But Gyarados wasn't to be outdone easily and fired off a dragon pulse that hit Milotic.

This time I took advantage of Milotic's length.

A-"Dragon Tail"

Dragon tail hit Gyarados and we were back to square one with both Gyarados and Milotic taking damage.

A/S-"Hail"

This time, Gyarados turned out stronger and the hail hit Milotic strongly.

Milotic gave a cry and fired a scale shot before going for Giga impact.

The combo did a number on Gyarados who could only dodge the scale shot.

Then again a high-intensity battle started between Gyarados and Milotic who entwined each other and stuck attacks closely.

It was like watching two Pythons fighting for supremacy.

Milotic, who had dreamt of beauty and power as a Feebas didn't wish to go down easily, and Gyarados, who had been taunted being weak as a Magicarp didn't desire an early defeat, more so against a Milotic who had just evolved.

Both Milotic and Gyarados had their strengths and weaknesses.

My Milotic was strong with dragon-type moves now, while Gyarados was dominating with Ice-type moves.

After a few minutes of this exchange, Milotic had ice on different parts of her body while Gyarados had visible injuries.

A/S-"Hyper beam"

The hyper beams clashed in a mini-explosion.

A-"Twister"

S-"Whirpool"

The moves clashed and both Milotic and Gyarados were thrown back a bit.

A/S-"Bodyslam"

A/S-"Ice Beam"

A/S-"Blizzard"

A/S-"Hydro Pump"

A/S-"Iron tail"

A/S-"Dragon Tail"

A/S-"Dragon Pulse"

A/S-"Iron Head"

Both shared blows and accumulated damage until a move I didn't expect, came.

S-"Thunderbolt"

I was shocked that Scarlet's Gyarados knew thunderbolt. Milotic was hit and was almost down.

A-"Disarming voice then coil and follow by twister"

The disarmed Gyarodos was hit hard by coil and twister and now couldn't go for self-damaging moves now, so thunder attacks were out.

Both Milotic and Gyarados fired Hyper Beam at a point-blank range at each other.

Milotic slowly untwined herself from Gyarados and moved away to stare at him.

A few seconds later, Gyarados was down.

Misty was about to announce the result when even Milotic went down. Guess she did take a Gyarados out after all

Misty-"Both Milotic and Gyarados are unable to battle. This battle is a tie"

S-"Awesome battle Gyarados! Now I'm depending on you! Blastoise!"

Scarlet's Blastoise was big, I mean big! About 2 meters tall.

Well, I had something bigger here.

A-"Arcanine! Let's have a battle finally"

S-"I still think you shouldn't use Arcanine. You can change him if you want."

Arcanine calmly looked at Scarlet.

Robin-"She's done it now!"

Pikachu-"Piiii..Pika...Piii....Piiiika....Pi.." (She's done it now)

A-"You've done it now."

S-"?????"

A-"Arcanine! Clear the field of obstacles."

A high-intensity wind blew and cleared the pool of everything except water.

And now Arcanine was standing on the water itself.

Scarlet-"WHAT?????"

A-"I think we should start"

S-"Hydro Pump"

Arcanine flared up and the hydro pump evaporated before reaching him.

A-"My turn. Hypersonic tackle!"

Arcanine flashed and blasted Blastoise into the pool and the sonic boom created rocked the Gym.

Scarlet was shocked seeing the strength of Arcanine.

S-"Ok! That was unexpected. Evacuate to the stands Misty! Things are going to be ugly now."

S-"Whirlpool now!

The entire pool turned into a whirlpool leaving Arcanine without any place to stand on.

A-"Ok! Arcanine! onto the roof now!"

Arcanine jumped towards the roof. Scarlet smiled thinking that I was planning in a tackle from above but!

Arcanine stuck to the roof!

S-"WHAT??"

A-"Arcanine flame gun onto the pool"

A powerful blue flame landed on the Pool and evaporated all the water, enveloping the battlefield in steam.

A-"Now clear the steam!"

Arcanine controlled the winds to clear of all the steam for us to see a shocked Scarlet and Blastoise.

S-"Aquajet"

A-"Flamejet'

Arcanine got covered in flames and struck the water covered Blastoise. This time, however, they had a proper exchange of blows and both got repelled back.

A/S-"Aura Punch"

Now things got a bit serious. What followed after this was a purely physical battle with Blastoise and Arcanine exchanging blows. Blastoise used aura to increase his physical strength and defense while Arcanine used his extreme speed. It was like watching a battle between a strong heavyweight and a fast ninja.

Blastoise was battling on instincts alone. He was able to keep up with the speed of Arcanine's attacks.

Suddenly he fired a water gun at Arcanine who used a flamethrower to counter it. This gave Blastoise and Scarlet time to get their bearings.

S-"Dragon Pulse and follow with Flash Cannon"

Arcanine was attacked by a barrage of dragon pulse, which he countered easily until it got cornered to face a Flash Cannon.

A-"Meltdown"

Arcanine surrounded himself with a flame and the high-temperature flame assimilated the flash cannon.

S-"Whirpool! Full power"

A-"Wind scar"

The wind scar, a move combining wind and aura tore through the whirlpool and hit Blastoise.

S-"Aqua Ring"

Damn

A-"Flame tornado"

The flame tornado broke through Blastoise's aqua ring and knocked him out unconscious.

Misty gave out the result in a bewildered tone.

Misty-"Blastoise is unable to battle! Arcanine wins the battle. Challenger Ash Ketchum wins the match."

Anyone would be shocked. The last battle is usually the toughest, but I guess Arcanine is too OP now.

Scarlet gave me the Cascade Badge, "Here! The Cascade Badge. The Proof that you defeated Cerulean City Gym."

Ash-"Thanks"

Scarlet-"Your Arcanine is quite strong! I didn't think you'd actually be able to ace through the match with only one Pokemon losing. That too a double knockout. Btw you guys aren't leaving today, right?"

Ash-"Naah! We'll be leaving tomorrow! Today We'll just tour Cerulean City."

Scarlet-"Good! I'll be taking Misty then."

Third Person POV-

Scarlet took Misty with her while Ash, Robin, and Brock went to check out Cerulean City. Robin was in for a nice surprise as she saw the sea a short distance from the town.

Back to Scarlet and Misty.

Scarlet-"So, how has your journey been with him so far?"

Misty-"It's been great. He not only trains differently but also helps me and Robin train our Pokemon. Also, he doesn't keep his training methods a secret. I mean, he told me to let Staryu practice psychic by lifting weights. And it worked. Staryu's strength doubled within a week. Also, he treasures friendly rivalry.

Some of his Pokemon share a rivalry amongst them. Pikachu with Raikou, Skyreon with Pidgeoto, and Steelix with Naga."

Scarlet-"Who's Naga?"

Misty-"It's an evolved Arbok. According to Ash, we can't say for sure if a final evolved stage is really a Pokemon's final stage or not unless something about their DNA is checked. I don't know the major details, but he said something like Genetics being too backward."

Scarlet-"So he has studied not only Eevee evolution but other evolutions as well! Oh! We got off track. What did you guys do except traveling?"

Misty-"Oh yes! We hunted for fossils in the caves of Mount Moon! You won't believe this! He's got so much knowledge about fossil hunting! He's a genius about Pokemon fossils!"

Scarlet-"I know you've fallen head over heels for him but keep it down will you! What did he do to make you fall for him that much?"

Misty-"Mom! Don't tease me!"

Scarlet-"Ok! Ok! Sniff..... Mommy's hurt"

Misty-"Mom! Seriously?"

Scarlet ruffled her daughter's hair and asked her, "Did he bribe you with something?"

Misty nodded bashfully.

Scarlet-"What did he give you? It'd better be a good thing!"

Misty-"Helix Fossil"

Scarlet-"What? He gave it to you! A helix Fossil? For nothing! He even found one!"

Misty-"He didn't find one."

Scarlet-"I knew it! He got it from..."

Misty-"Would you let me complete? He didn't just find one, but he helped us in discovering a treasure trove of fossils. He guided us in ways of finding fossils. I can say he's more knowledgable about finding fossils compared to scientists specializing in fossils.

We discovered not 1 but a bunch of dome and helix fossils. Also, we discovered complete fossils of Lapras, Venusaur, Charizard, and a few others as well. Brock found 5 old ambers and an almost complete fossilized skeleton of an Aerodactyl.

He himself found more than all of us combined. Skull fossils and shield fossils as well as an entire fossilized herd of Pokemon along with a different attacker Pokemon.

And No! None of these was due to chance."

Misty stopped Scarlet as she was about to say something.

Misty-"He found the caves for hunting, narrowed them down to get maximum results, imparted the knowledge of rocks having maximum chances of a fossil, marked the cave areas where fossils would be discovered and how to find fossils simply by looking at the ground."

Scarlet-"So he's got you impressed with his knowledge huh? Quite a smarty you found one!"

Misty just blushed strongly while her mother inquired more about Ash.

Scarlet-"I heard Robin and Pikachu saying something when I said something about his Arcanine. Do you know what that was about?"

Misty nodded-"Uhuh! They said, "Now She's done it!" ."

Scarlet-"What does that mean?"

Misty-"I didn't think that even you won't realize! Arcanine was angry! Rather he was in rage!"

Scarlet-"But he looked so calm... "

Misty-"He looked too calm! Ash's Pokemon have two different specializations- raging destruction and absolute control. Pikachu, Raikou, Steelix, and Skyreon show their emotions openly and cause widespread destruction upon getting enraged.

However, Arcanine, Naga, and Spookeon are the exact opposite. They don't show their emotions like that but when Arcanine was so calm, I knew that you would lose very badly.

These guys don't release their emotions outside like Pikachu and others but take out others with absolute controlled power.

Btw mom, you didn't say anything, but are you okay with me going on a journey with their group?"

Scarlet-"Sure I am honey! I know Brock is a womanizer, but he's serious about his responsibilities. And secondly, his name is Ash Ketchum, right? If I'm not wrong, I may know his mother."

Misty-"?????"

While Misty was confused at the revelation from Scarlet, Ash, Robin, and Brock were enjoying the beach near Cerulean City, with Robin playing in the ocean for the first time in her life.

Little did she know, that her next adventures could be related to the sea itself.

As I said this would be the last chapter before the 1-week hiatus.

I apologize if the battle appears rushed as I'm preparing for my exams even now. I'll try to make further battles more intense.
