Chapter 5 Infinite Loves

"I'll be right there!" Nolan got up from the bed and walked out of the room. There was an addition of one ring on his person, but it was so ordinary-looking that nobody would even mistake it for an immortal treasure.

"Who do we have here, Mara? Surprise me," Nolan asked. He wasn't always using his divine sense to scour the entire universe. That would be too dull and boring and would erase any surprise in his daily life at all. He enjoyed the unpredictability that came with limited awareness, a rare trait for someone with his abilities.

"Your fiancée has come, young master, and I have a guess that we won't like what she has to say today," Mara replied, her voice carrying a hint of concern.

"Bad news then. I have reason to believe that you may be right, my dear Mara. You are rarely wrong now that I think about it." Nolan shook his head and led the parade to the guest hall where a whole company of people were waiting. It seemed that Nolan's fiancée really spared no effort in today's meeting.

As they walked through the grand corridors, the opulence of Nolan's residence was evident. The walls were adorned with priceless artifacts and tapestries that depicted ancient battles and legendary figures. The floor beneath them was a mosaic of rare stones, each step echoing the grandeur of the place.

"Do you think it's about the engagement?" Mara asked, breaking the silence.

"Possibly. Or it could be something more mundane, like her asking me for a date in the sea in order for us to get to know each other better," Nolan replied, his tone thoughtful and serious.

"Hmmm…" Mara stifled a laugh that almost came out from her mouth. Her young master really knew how to dream and jest.

They arrived at the hall, and the buzz of whispers stopped completely. With a quick glance, Nolan could count that there were at least two dozen guests who had arrived from afar. Their attire and bearing indicated they were not mere attendants but significant figures in their own right.

At the center of the gathering stood Nolan's fiancée, Samantha. She was dressed in an elegant fairy gown that shimmered with an ethereal glow, her presence commanding attention. Despite her serene appearance, there was a tension in her eyes that Nolan expected to see in their meeting.

"Samantha, it's good to see you," Nolan greeted her warmly, masking his curiosity and concern. "To what do i owe the pleasure of your visit?"

Samantha took a deep breath before speaking, her voice steady but with an undercurrent of urgency. "Nolan, there are matters we need to discuss. Matters that cannot wait."

Nolan gestured for her to continue, his expression growing more serious. "Go on, I'm listening."

Samantha took another deep breath, her eyes meeting Nolan's. "Nolan, I've come to break our engagement."

A shocked murmur rippled through the gathered people of the household both slaves and servants alike. Nolan's expression remained composed, though Mara could see the flicker of amusement in his eyes. "Break our engagement? Samantha, what has brought this on?"

"There are many reasons," Samantha replied, her voice firm. "But the most pressing is that I do not believe you deserve to be with me since you cannot cultivate. You lack the abilities and strength that my family and our people expect from someone in your position. Our union would only highlight your shortcomings."

Nolan looked at her, his mind as still as the life giving sun. "And this is your final decision?"

Samantha nodded. "Yes, it is. I've thought long and hard about this, Nolan. It is the best course for both of us and both our clans."

Mara stepped forward, her face a mix of concern and indignation. "Samantha, you understand the consequences of this decision, don't you? This will not be taken lightly by either clan." Mara interjected even though of her low stations of only a maidservant. This was not unusual to everyone who knew young master Nolan since they only believed him to be nothing but a careless irresponsible trash.

"I do, Mara. But it is a necessary step. I believe in time, everyone will come to see it as I do," Samantha responded, her voice unwavering.

Nolan sighed, a mixture of acceptance and understanding in his eyes. "If this is truly what you want, Samantha, then I will not stand in your way. You do deserve a man who matches your superb talents in cultivation."

Samantha's expression softened, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I know, Nolan. And I'm sorry it has come to this."

Nolan nodded slowly. "Very well. We will handle this with the dignity and respect our clans deserve. Mara, see to it that my parents are informed and that the necessary arrangements are made."

As Samantha and her entourage prepared to depart, Nolan couldn't shake the feeling of sudden freedom.

Although Samantha could be said to be extremely beautiful, as a man of modern times, Nolan was not comfortable with the idea of someone else deciding whom he would spend his whole life with.

With his new op power, he dreamed of having the most beautiful wife in all the lands. She would be perfect and strong, just like him, a reflection of his own strength and beauty. Together, they would share the rest of eternity, ruling over their domain with grace and power, an unstoppable force of nature.

He imagined their lives filled with love, adventure, and mutual respect, creating a legacy that would be remembered for generations. His heart yearned for this perfect union, believing it to be the ultimate reward for his efforts and standing.

However, fate had other plans. Despite his desire for a singular perfect partner, destiny had a different vision for him. Instead of one perfect wife, he was destined to have the greatest harem of all time. Women from all corners of the world, each with their own unique beauty, strength, and talents, would be drawn to him.

Nolan retired for the day, went to his room, and deeply thought about how he was going to introduce his new self to the clan. He thought long and hard into the night and finally settled on something that was neither too flashy nor foolish. With that thought, Nolan finally called it a day well spent. He closed his eyes with a contented smile on his face.
