16: Seizing The Opportunity

Later on, they both shared a bit of their story in the past, Ning Rongrong also did explain why she cared so much about Peng Lao to Li Fei.

It turns out that Peng Lao was initially Ning Rongrong's personal blood bag which she would use him as her blood bag to feed her Demonic Qi. But, she fell in love with him as watching him grew up under her care. Not in romantic or lustful way, but a pure and unconditional love just like a mother's love.

"I think, I was cursed by the Gods to be so obsessed with him." Ning Rongrong chimed from the other side.

"I don't think so." Li Fei remarked.

"And… what do you mean by that?"

"You did mentioned that you've lost your family due to a rampaging war before you walked in the Demonic Path. I think, you saw Peng Lao's True Soul as your late husband or your late child maybe? Who knows? One thing for sure though, once a mother, always a mother. Doesn't matter if you are an animal, a demon or a human."

Ning Rongrong went silent for a moment, looking at her reflection on the water. "Maybe you're right… I shouldn't have forced my feelings to him and walked this path alone as I've done before I met him."

"Well, I do understand that the path into an immortality is hard, perilous and not for the faint hearted. However, the fact that you still retain your humanity by having such a strong emotion for Peng Lao after all these years of hardship is something that you should proud of. There's no shame in that."

The demoness let out a ladylike chuckles. It was her first time to have such a very relaxed talk. She didn't feel to be reserved and appear as a devilish entity for once.

"Thank you for the compliment…But, I think it's time for me to take my retreat. My ribs is killing me. Thanks to certain old hag who tossed me around like a rag doll."

After some healing and recovery session later, Li Fei walked her to the front gate. He did offered her to stay for the night, but she politely refused. Especially, after what he did to her last night.

"White is more suitable for you." Li Fei comments her hair color as she strode beside him.

Ning Rongrong smiles gently toward him before she fly to the sky.

"Little brat, visit my sect once your cultivation have reached Nascent Soul Stage."

"Why should I?" Li Fei crossed his arm before his chest.

"You'll know. Just come. You won't regret it. I promise."

With that said, Ning Rongrong take off to the sky with just a whim of her thoughts. The Nine Demonesses followed suit, without undoing the Grand Formation Nascent Soul Array.

"Hey! You forgot the bird cage!" Li Fei exclaimed to them.

"You may keep it. You'll need it, trust me!" Ning Rongrong's voice echoed in the sky, declaring to the whole plain that House of Phoenixes is under Nine Claws Sect's protection.
