Chapter 226

The party was held in the Wang Residence and only people who are close to the Wang family were invited to the party. The party had been planned secretly making sure no one other than the people they wanted to know was aware of the party. They did not want any paparazzi. If news about Wang Yiran gets out then automatically questions about her disappearance for several years will also be brought up and the Wang family did not want that.

Wang Yiran took an entire day to get ready. A fortune had been spent on her dress alone. Wang Yiran knew that Wang Yu will come to the party with Li Zi Yun and she wanted to make sure that she was the centre of attention and everyone's focus will only be on her. Wang Yiran was strutting around proudly in the room. The only thing missing was the family heirloom and she was waiting to get it from Li Zi Yun. Mrs. Wang had given Wang Yiran a necklace studded with rare sapphire and diamonds but she wanted only Li Zi Yun's.

Though the party had not started yet, most of the people had arrived already. Wang Yiran was not seen even at Wang Yu's wedding so everyone had been curious about her even though no one said it out loud. Everyone was eager to see Wang Yiran now and waiting for her to come out. the Zhao family was also invited.

Zhao Ming Mei was the only daughter in the family. In the Zhao family, Grandfather Zhao had two sons. The first son Zhao Yu Zheng did not have children and the second son Zhao Jing Jie had two sons and a daughter. Since Zhao Yu Zheng did not have any children, he and his wife adored Zhao Ming Mei and treated her like their own and she was like their adopted child. So she was a spoiled child equal to Wang Yiran.

Zhao Ming Mei went straight to Wang Yiran's room to see her along with her adoptive mother. Though both were not the best of friends, they both had equal wealth and status in the society so they had spent time together often in the past. Zhao Ming Mei and Wang Yiran greeted each other warmly. After speaking for some time Wang Yiran remembered that Zhao Ming Mei had a crush on her brother and she thought it was a perfect chance to start a fire.

Wang Yiran said with a sigh, "You should have been my sister in law now… who guessed that my brother would fall victim to this bitch's seduction!"

Elder Mrs. Zhao said with a fake smile on her face "It's not nice to talk behind people, especially about your family."

Though Zhao Yu Zheng's wife was not her birth mother, Zhao Ming Mei called Elder Mrs. Zhao as her mother.

Zhao Ming Mei came to Wang Yiran's support, "Mom what did she say that was wrong?"

Wang Yiran started talking about Li Zi Yun, "Aunty Zhao you have no idea about her. She went after my brother when he was already engaged and she does not have a penny to her name. How cheap!"

Mrs. Zhao clicked her tongue as she heard Zhao Ming Mei and Wang Yiran speak. She was getting irritated now.

She said, "Then why didn't you stop everything before it started?"

Wang Yiran had no answer to this. Her family had strictly warned her not to breathe a word about her condition so she shut her mouth.

When Zhao Yu Zheng's wife was alone with Zhao Ming Mei, she said to her, "What are you doing now?"

Zhao Ming Mei was confused, "What…"

Elder Mrs. Zhao said in a strict voice, "Why are you meddling into other family issues and talking behind other people without knowing anything about them?"

Zhao Ming Mei said with an innocent face, "Mom if Wang Yiran says so about her sister in law then it must be true. She wouldn't lie about this."

"Wow!!! I have never heard something worst. Then why don't you ask Wang Yiran where she was for many years? Let's see if she speaks the truth"

Zhao Ming Mei spoke slowly not believing her own words, "She said she was abroad and too sick to return home"

"I can see that even you know how absurd it is. Speaking the truth my foot"

Zhao Yu Zheng's wife disliked Wang Yiran to the core and did not want Zhao Ming Mei to have anything to do with her.

Zhao Ming Mei said with a pitiful face, "Mom but you know how much I loved Brother Wang Yu."

Elder Mrs. Zhao said angrily, "You were the one who was adamant that you won't get married. Now why are you blaming someone else?"

Zhao Ming Mei was really confused now. She could not understand why her aunt was getting angry now, "Mom but why are you getting angry with me?"
