CHAPTER THIRTY SIX: TRUTH OR NO TRUST (2)

CHAPTER THIRTY SIX: TRUTH OR NO TRUST (2)

"There was a time, even before you came... John and I talked about many things and part of it was disappointing mistakes" Victoria said as she looked at Vanessa as if referring her as the last two words she said

Woah... this must be what Victoria had been hiding from us and from Vanessa

I am sure the reason she didn't tell Morayo and even me is because, she knows we will start trouble with her not even me but, Morayo especially

"I became quiet and didn't say anything until, either Morayo or Floral, I can't remember sha, either one of the them asked John a question and you answered falsely. Well, I just thought you wanted to hide something from us maybe, you are not ready to tell us anything. Until, when you lied that you haven't eaten whereas you had. Why did you lie about that?" Victoria asked and explained curiously

"As I said earlier, it was a slip of tongue" Vanessa said again

Gosh! This girl is too persistent. What is her deal?

"Why did you lie and even spit it at me that, you haven't seen John at all?" Victoria asked as she remained calm

"What did he say to you?" Vanessa asked changing the topic

"I asked a question and you must answer that first!" Victoria said using a commanding tone

"I asked, what did he say to you?" Vanessa asked again ignoring what Victoria said

"Oh my god, you are so annoying right now" Victoria said as she put her hand on her face and nodded her head as if, she can't bear to remain calm "Don't make me get annoyed at you" Victoria asked as she looked at her with a somewhat calm face

"Oh goodness, you don't want to mess with Victoria's bad side especially with you that have been dishonest consistently" Morayo said adding ajasi

Ajasi is also a slang used in Nigeria, it is when someone add pepper to the already peppery food which means, finding more trouble for the other opponent

Note that, ajasi is a Yoruba word as well.

Most of Nigerians slangs are from either Yoruba or Warri languages

I laughed at what Morayo said

"I am serious right now. I asked a question and you must answer that" Victoria asked ignoring what Morayo said

"Wait, is it even by force for you guys to know why I said no?" Vanessa asked as she looked at us annoyingly

"Ohhh... she don already confess" (she has already confessed) Morayo said speaking pidgin.

"What is your deal? Am I talking to you?" Vanessa asked as if ready to fight Morayo

"Don't look at me oo, you are the one that did the wrong" Morayo said as she looked away

"I am even leaving. I don't care if you guys don't want to be friends with me" Vanessa said as she left our room

We actually waited for her to leave before we talked

"Victoria, tell us what we have been missing out" Morayo suddenly broke the silence after Vanessa left our room

"Okay, I really didn't want to say it but, Vanessa pushed me to the wall" Victoria said using one of Nigerians popular idioms

"Even though, just tell us" Morayo said still insisting on Victoria to tell us

"Okay oo...John told me that she is the only child of her parents, she dropped out from school because of pregnancy at the age of 14... her parents dropped her with her grandma like, they disowned her. Since then, after giving birth she had been doing hook up to gain money" Victoria explained briefly

That's wild and disgusting

She must be seventeen or sixteen... she is far far older than us

Should I pity her for parents disowned her because she was pregnant? Or there must be another reason why her parents did. Why is she into hook up?

She is even the oldest in this class

"How does John know? She looks a lot younger than 14" Morayo asked as she looked at Victoria curiously

"She was John's first love" Victoria answered

"And why would John say that to you?" Morayo asked

"Because we are something like childhood friend. Let me just say, I know Vanessa too because she was my sister's friend but, Vanessa doesn't know me since we haven't really met" Victoria explained

Is anyone confused? Because I am so confused right now?

I am trying to put the puzzle pieces together but, I am always left with a piece. So confusing!

"Okay, explain everything from the beginning so we can understand because right now, my brain is in a confused state" I said to her

"Don't you guys want to wash your clothes before the house mistress rings the bell?" Victoria asked as she brought out her towel from her box

"Okay, after we wash our clothes abi?" Morayo asked using another one of Nigerians slangs that is from Yoruba language

Abi in English can be known as 'right' or 'or'

"Yes, I promise that" Victoria said smiling

Morayo and I seems to be curious how all of these are put together

Morayo went to her corner to get everything prepared so, we can wah our clothes and bath before entering inside the hostel and Victoria telling us everything

We walked out of the hostel together to do the necessary things before entering inside the hostel

Everything was quick.

Lol! Morayo was the first to finish with everything and the same as me. Then, we waited for Victoria before entering the hostel

"Okay, let me tell you guys" Victoria said as we settled in on our nightwear. Morayo and I sat on my bed while Victoria sat on her own bed alone

It was as if Morayo and I were watching television
