Chapter 2 Rebirth

"Yohohohoho, you will soon find out what your life is, good luck to you mister Paul, I sincerely pray for your success." He said with a smirk on his face but before Paul could retort he was already sucked into the darkness.

'Damn it!!, I didn't even see what my choice was' Paul thought as he began to float in the endless darkness but soon his ethereal body began to shrink and be pulled into a certain direction, all this not known to Paul himself.

He was pulled through the endless darkness at thunderous speed however to him he believed he was still floating in the same place this whole time, he only noticed he was moving when he began to see a light in the distance that was becoming larger by the second as well as a permeating warm feeling that began to surround him.

'What the- what's going on!?' Paul screamed in his mind

[You are in the process of being reborn]

'....'

'Trickster, it that you again?'

[No]

'....'

'Would you mind introducing yourself then?' Paul had replied slightly annoyed that he had to ask.

[I am your system, lord Trickster mentioned that he was going to gift you something for your inconvenience and that was me]

'huh?'

But before the system could respond, a blinding light had appeared and then a flurry of colours had hit Paul at once, he could see a table to his right and what appeared to be a burly man over to his right who was staring at him with star-struck eyes.

Then came the noise.

"AAAAHHHHH!!"

Paul heard what appeared to be a woman screaming however try as he might, he couldn't turn around to see what was going on it was like he had absolutely no control over his own body but then he saw what appeared to be an old woman holding him who began to clean him off the blood that he was covered with.

Upon seeing the red colour of blood, Paul was truly confused about what was going on, but slowly he was connecting the dots, The trickster saying he would have a second chance, seeing a burly man look at him with star-struck eyes, the woman screaming, and the blood.

'I'm a fucking baby aren't I' He thought

[That is correct]

'sigh'

As Paul had been thinking about what happened when he got pulled out into the light, the conversation outside went like this:

*Paul isn't able to understand what they're saying as he's still a baby and this is a new language*

"Come on sweetie, you've got this, just push him out" Said the burly man

"Damn it, Roy shut up!!" The Woman shouted back at him

"...."

"'sigh' don't worry about it Roy, childbirth hurts, so she'll just say whatever comes to mind without thinking about it" Said the elderly woman to Roy in an attempt to comfort him.

The woman realising what she said a couple of moments later managed to squeeze out a sentence in between her screams.

"I'm sorry sweetie!!"

"It's okay honey, just focus on bringing him to us" Roy squeaked out in an attempt to try and help his wife.

The elderly woman who was a family friend of Roy and his wife had gotten ready as the baby was coming. Finally, she signalled to the woman in labour to push and focus on getting the baby out.

"He's coming Leah, it's time to push, you're nearly done now!" Shouted the elderly woman to Leah.

And just as she said, the baby was really ready to leave and came out shortly after her announcement, the baby upon leaving his mother had begun looking around, Roy noticing this had a thought.

'Is he looking at his surroundings, I thought they would just cry after being born at least that's what happened with Rhys and Lyssa' In the midst of his thoughts the baby had looked at him and their eyes were interlocked for a couple of seconds, despite that short interaction, Roy could swear that the baby was looking directly at him and analyzing him, the only other time he ever felt like that was when he met face to face with a noble who had come through his village and looked like he was analyzing all the villagers every move.

'He's special' those were the only words that went through his mind as he looked at his newborn son.

However, unlike him, Leah and the elderly woman were very worried as it was common knowledge that all babies after being born would begin to cry almost instantly unless they were dead.

"Why, why isn't he crying, please god tell me he's fine!" Shouted Leah as her face began to be covered with tears.

"He's fine I think, he's been moving his eyes around and I can feel him breathing but then why isn't he crying?" Responded the elderly woman however she spoke her last few words under her breath.

-Back to the present-

'Hmm, why are they shouting, maybe I should say something' However, the second he opened his mouth all that left was a scream and then tears streaming down his eyes.

Seeing this, his mother and the elderly woman had breathed a sigh of relief as he was completely fine, Paul on the other hand began to freak out.

'Wtf, why am I screaming, don't tell me that just because I'm a damn baby I ain't able to control when I'm able to cry or not, don't tell me that I can't control my bowels either'

[That is correct, you may have the mental capacity of a 26-year old however you are now a normal baby, as such you are not able to control your bowels nor would you be able to speak even if you knew their language]

'That has got to be some bullshit!'

....

As the system and Paul were having their little back and forth inside his head, Leah, his mother had begun to soothe her baby and calm him down, she got him in her arms and kept him close to her face as she simply observed her baby squirming in her arms while he began to settle down.

Despite being mad at the system for no reason, Paul could feel a wave of calmness overrun him and went completely blank, he just laid there in her arms staring at her beautiful and reassuring face, despite seeing her lips move and hearing these words that he couldn't possibly understand Paul felt like he could understand the love that was portrayed behind each and every word and he simply melted away in that warmth till he fell asleep.

After seeing her baby fall asleep so peacefully and easily Leah was pleasantly surprised, as were Roy and the elderly woman as they both went through this process two times before with Lyssa and those two didn't calm down for a long time.

"Well well, Leah it looks like your getting better at calming those runts down eh? Hehehe" The old woman noted adding a hearty laugh at the end.

"Yeah, it seems like he was a lot calmer compared to when Rhys and Lyssa were born, plus it felt like he looked into my eyes for a second there." Roy added.

"Don't be silly honey, he was only born a couple of minutes ago, I know you want him to be special but there's no way he did"

"But I swear he di-" As Roy had begun mumbling, two kids had blasted right through the door and came sprinting in.

"Mommy, can we see it yet?" Asked the little girl that walked right through the legs of her father.

"I told her to stop mother, I knew that you had to rest" Informed the young boy hiding behind his father's leg.

These two were Rhys and Lyssa and they were going to become Paul's older siblings, though he doesn't know that yet, they were 5 and 3 years old respectively.

Leah seeing them coming in with one acting all energetic and the other acting all shy and fidgety couldn't even reprimand them and limited herself to smile lovingly at them and showing them their newest addition to the family.

"This is your younger brother..." Her sentence trailed off as she got sleepy all of a sudden.

The thing was that she wasn't the only one who got sleepy, the two kids that were in there with her had both already collapsed on the ground and were out cold while Leah had finally passed out with Paul in her arms.
