Chapter 2: Part 4

"Amy, my daughter. The crystal. You were supposed to gain the knowledge of it when you inherited the school from me." He started coughing up more blood, staining my suit in more crimson paint.

"The crystal can heal and destroy. It's what kept us safe during the asteroid showers and it's what powered our school. But you can't use it. When you do, the heir will have to choose, death with war, or peace for a century but they would have to live forever, having to go through more losses." He told me, grasping my trembling hand.

"The heir, Father?" I asked, my voice cracking at the end.

"The heir was to be decided when either you or Maxy were to inherit the school. The crystal would have to have a say in the choice and give the new owner of the school it's everlasting loyalty." I felt him getting lighter in my arms, the blood loss was too much and he was fading away quicker. Feeling his hand going limp made my heart drop.

"I made many mistakes in the past, but I don't regret what I did to my killer." He told me. I looked up in his eyes and he looked in mine. I had fear, grief, sadness, and the urge to get revenge for him.

"Revenge isn't what I taught you. But I suppose that you could do it if it were for me." He said, chuckling at the end.

"Now isn't the time to be laughing." I told him darkly. Pain spread all over me, making me release a confusing aura.

"Yes, but I would like to die happily, knowing that we could joke one last time." He said, his eyes drooping. I couldn't take it.

"The killer… remember… you-"

He's dead.
