Chapter 2: Part 1

My breath was ragged, as it was the only thing that I could hear. My heart pounded, glueing my feet towards the floor. I couldn't move. I couldn't think clearly. I watched as people rushed and bumped passed me. The sirens being the only light that showed. Then it hit me.

"EVERYONE TOWARDS THE ESCAPE CAPSULES NOW! CREATE A SINGLE FILE LINE! YOUNGEST KIDS GO FIRST, ADULTS GO CALL FOR BACKUP AND SECU-"

"THEIR DEAD!" I heard someone say. Then everything slowed down. I felt my brother's gaze look up at me, tearing through my brain.

"THERE'S NO MORE TEACHERS IN THE AREA! THEIR ALL DEAD!" I looked at the voice who had said it. Kyla came running towards me, tears filled her eyes. Everyone looked at me. The whole school depended on me.

"SINGLE FILE LINE, FORGET EVERYTHING AND GET ON A CAPSULE! STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS AND CLUB LEADERS MAKE SURE THERES ORDER HERE!" I yelled running. Murmurs were all around the hallways, panic filled the air. I felt everyone rush in order. The hallways started to empty out. Dragging Maxy I threw the suitcase randomly somewhere. He had let go of him a while back. I picked him up and sprinted towards the emergency lines. Suddenly, the stature of my dad fell on the roof, leaving a dent.

"EVERYONE HURRY! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR EAR PIECES READY FOR COMMUNICATIONS! GET IN YOUR SPACE ATTIRES AS WELL! IT'S ONLY AN AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE WE DON'T HAVE ANY OXYGEN TO BREATH!" I yelled. I had sent a message, my earpiece running with people's voices. Pleadinging for help. Only one caught my attention.

"Amy! Amy I'm scared and stuck! I'm here with James and some of the newspaper committee club. Some other people form the Tech club as well. Amy we're stuck in the hallway, the head of the statue was blocking our path and we didn't have enough air. Amy, their dead. The teachers are all dying one by one. And your dad-" Grace told me. She was never scared. Letting go of Maxy's hand, I looked him in the eye. Tears fell down my eyes, some soaking my eye patch.

"Maxy, you need to listen to me. You have to run okay. Run to the escape capsules where everyone else is. Don't wait for me okay. Just run and find someone who can take care of you. Call Mom or Auntie if you can alright?" I said, dangerously gripping his shoulders.

"Ok. Promise you'll come back alright? Please?" Maxy cried. He buried his head in my neck soaking it with his tears.

I'm sorry Maxy...
