Chapter 1: Part 3

We got to the computer room and sat around the table. It was a new day for clubs but everyone already knew each other. I sat next to James and placed my files down neatly. We sat there in silence, everyone came rushing and talking, all trying to get a seat farthest from me and next to someone they know. Typical. As everyone sat down I lightly tapped the bell and the room went quiet. I went on to talk about the expectations of being in this club, what to expect, and the use of computers. James got up next and shuffled his feet in the same direction I had been doing with a ruler in his hand. He had a white board on wheels where he could write the percentages of homework going up, the amount of gossip going around and the how much time you'd have to spend with your's truly.

"If any of you feel as if you aren't up to this, leave." James said looking away from our peers and erasing the board. I looked around and everyone was either deep in thought, or waiting for someone to make a move so that they could follow.

"Oh come on you guys! Amy isn't as bad as the rumors make her." Said a girl standing up. Although all eyes were on her, I could see she wasn't nervous. She won't be leaving any time soon that's for sure. I thought to myself. I recognized her as Mary's friend, Kyla Brown. Wondering where this would lead and desiring a taste for some drama, I looked her in the eye and nodded.

"The rumors about Miss Amy letting Mary onto the elevator with her is true. Mary was going to my dorm to talk to me and she told me everything. She's not that bad actually, it's just that some people don't like her. I would really appreciate working with the Amy Smithson after all." Kyla said. She bowed her head in thanks for everyone's time and sat back down in her chair, disappearing in the crowd. I decided to have a little fun with them. If I test the water here, I can probably see who can deal with me and point out some useful characteristics for this club. Plus it would be a lot of fun to do so. I thought to myself standing up.

"Kyla, thank you for your kind speech. I admire your confidence and would appreciate it if you joined this club with me. However, I would like to add on to what she had said. Yes I know that not many people like me because of my blood line but I would like everyone to know one thing." I said checking the time and looking at everyone's faces. Although most were pale, I could see the hunger in their eyes longing to know what was so important, that I had to talk to them.

"As long as you don't get onto my bad side, you should make it out of this school alive by the end of the year. If I'm in a good mood and feel nice, I will personally escort you out of this school, talk to you, and then ship you back to Earth. Understood?" I said, cocking my head slightly to the side. The eyes stared back at me. Then I saw a girl get up from her seat shaking and looking down at the floor. She thanked everyone for having her and dashed out the door. Then, everything broke loose. A girl screamed as people pushed their way out of the room, trying to get away from me. I heard a couple "I can't do this anymore." and "I'd rather live."

I sighed and returned back to my original poker face. Looking at the remainder of the people I welcomed them into the club and gave them fliers, which consisted of their schedule and their roles they could pick from. We were to discuss who would do what at the next meeting, or in other words, tomorrow. I completely ignored what had happened and dismissed them, giving the rest of the day off to do as they please. I followed behind everyone on their way out to lock the room. As I turned around I saw James and Kyla behind me. Both had opposite expressions towards me. James was bored and tired while Kyla was full of curiosity and eagerness.

"That's going to start a rumor..." James said as he followed behind me as I walked towards the The Stations, where things from Earth and other Planets go in and out. Kyla was acting like a cheery kid and was bouncing everywhere, a please in her eyes wanted me to look at her. Ignoring the plea, I kept walking.

"That's one of the reasons why I joined the Newspaper Committee after all. There have been too many rumors going around and I plan to keep them from distracting this school from failing." I said, continuing to walk.
