The traveler had just finished eating his breakfast. He had already forgotten about the turmoil which occurred last night so he was a bit confused when some people were staring at him the moment he appeared at the entrance lobby of the inn.
Though he felt uncomfortable, he didn't mind. They could stare all they want, he was taught not to care about what others think of him as it will only hinder him. After eating, he went to the stables inside the inn to visit his trusty friend, Walker.
Thankfully, the inn offers services like taking care of the guest's horses or pets, they have stables in which travelers can keep their horses. Workers will also feed them, the traveler was satisfied since despite having pets, he didn't like taking care of them.
Walker was happy to see his owner. In truth, back in White Rose village, he was angered because his master had forgotten to visit him. He had separation anxiety after all so not seeing the traveler for a long time will make him anxious.
After visiting Walker, the traveler came to see Chimera, the beast. The inn didn't dare to try and take care of Chimera though the traveler offered them quite a large sum, they were too afraid so Chimera had to stay outside.
When the traveler saw Chimera, there were four men near him. They had plate armor on so the traveler assumed that they were knights.
The knight with a blue cape saw the approaching traveler and said, "Sir, I apologize but, this is a highly dangerous beast, I advise you to step away!"
The traveler shook his head, "Dangerous?" He looked at Chimera who was lying down on the ground obediently. It was not attacking anyone and was tied up, "That's Chimera, my pet dog. Were you the one who tied him up?"
The knight wondered if he heard it wrong, "Y-Your pet dog?" The knight looked back and observed the beast, its head did resemble a dog but it was undeniably a beast. "You're the owner?"
"Yes?"
The knight released a sigh of relief, "No wonder it was calm. I thought it was tamed and I was right but its owner wasn't around. I'm sorry for having to tie him up, we were afraid that it will attack the citizens."
The traveler smiled warmly, "Oh no, it's alright. I understand and I also apologize, I'm the one at fault."
The knight was nervous earlier but seeing that the traveler was not a bad person but rather a nice one, he felt relieved, "Sir, I'm sorry but I don't see any slave mark. According to my knowledge, tamed beasts have a slave mark and this one did not have it so we had to tie it. We can't let it wander around the city."
The traveler fell silent, he thought about that problem too. "I didn't tame this beast using the slave mark, I did so using my ability. I understand that it is for the resident's safety but I can't leave him here tied up, do you have any suggestions?"
His wielder power was not to tame beasts but he did not lie when he said he was using his ability to tame it. The traveler didn't know what else he could do so the knights will let Chimera free so he asked the knight for suggestions.
The knight was surprised when he heard the traveler, "You used your ability to tame the beast? Sir, you're a wielder?"
The traveler nodded. The nervousness in the knight began to rise again, "A-Ah... well, apart from the slave mark, there is the guild mark! If you register as a guild member, you will receive their mark and you can give it to the beast. If it possesses the guild mark, it means the beast is tamed and the knights will not take it to custody."
The traveler thought for a while before he responded, "But if he possesses the guild mark, it means that Chimera belongs to the guild, doesn't it? I don't want that."
The knight didn't know most of the details so he suggested, "Forgive me but I'm not sure about that but I know for a fact that the guild will be able to help you out."
The traveler decided that he should deal with this problem now. If he goes to other cities with Chimera following him around, this occurrence will happen again and he did not want that.
The traveler nodded his head, "If it's not too much of a bother, could you accompany me to the guild you were talking about?"
The knight smiled, "Of course! As a knight, it's my job to protect and guide the people." The knights looked at the beast once more, "However, there are a lot of guilds. Since you have a beast, I recommend going to the Tamers Guild."
"I see, could you release Chimera? I'm here and I assure you that he won't harm anyone."
The knight nodded, "Hey, release the beast!" He said to his companions.
The traveler waited for a while and soon, Chimera was released. It didn't do anything to the knights and headed straight to the traveler. Cassius smiled and greeted him before rubbing his fur. "You did a great job, thank you for not attacking anyone."
The knight with the blue cape approached the traveler and said, "Shall we go?"
The traveler simply said yes and followed the knight. Chimera was also following behind them, and the citizens, instead of being scared, they were in awe. The beast was huge though it wasn't the biggest they've seen, it was still wonderful.
As they were walking, the traveler looked around the place. It was lively and the residents had smiles on their faces. Perhaps the traveler was wrong when he said it was not very peaceful in cities. This sight, people getting along and children playing, though it was noisy, the traveler thought it was still peaceful.
As he was looking, two kids, a boy, and a girl were running in his direction. The boy was chasing the girl and both of them had joyful smiles. When they passed by him, the traveler couldn't help but look back and watch them. The kids reminded him of something.
"Sir?" The voice of the knight interrupted his thoughts, "We're here," The knight pointed at a large structure. It was a two-story building and as wide as two normal size houses combined. "The Tamer's Guild!"
They were in White Stone city so naturally, the structure was made with white stone. Outside the building, two banners were hung, one on each side of the door. It was a green banner with a silver tiger logo. Under the banners was a wooden sign that said, 'The Tamer's Guild'
The two entered the guild, leaving Chimera outside. The traveler along with the knight was greeted by a wide lobby hall filled with potted plants, chairs, benches, tables, paintings, and other decorations that made the place lively. There were small beasts and animals from left to right and people with either strange clothing or a green robe were scattered around the place.
A few meters away from the front door was a wooden counter and behind it was a lady who wore a green robe with the Tamer's guild logo. After seeing the two unfamiliar people at the door, she bowed respectfully and smiled professionally.
"Good morning sirs, welcome to Tamers Guild!" She said, "It appears that you don't have the guild's badge so I assume that you are either a client or are hoping to register as a guild member?"
The traveler approached the lady and explained his situation. However, before he could explain further about his problem, after hearing that he was a wielder, the woman immediately stopped him from saying anything else. She said, "We'll register you right now!"
"Please hold on, I have a question." The traveler said, "If I were to use the guild mark for my beast, does that mean it is the guild's property?"
The woman smiled, "A lot of newcomers are confused about that too but I can assure you that the beast is rightfully yours. This is the Tamers guild, we usually get that question but we only register the tamer themselves as the guild member, not the beast therefore it does not belong to the guild."
The traveler nodded in satisfaction, "Now that's solved, I have another question. If I'm registered as a guild member, I can't just rely on the guild and not make contributions, right? I'm a traveler so I'm afraid I can't be active at all times, if so then how should I contribute? What happens if I don't contribute? Could you explain the details for me?"
The lady started to explain, "Of course, it is important to contribute and by doing so you will obtain guild points. Guild points can be used to acquire items and get help from other guild members. Guild points can be obtained by doing missions from clients. As you know, guilds work just like mercenaries but more legally and officially."
She continued, "There are three types of missions, basic, mid-tier, and closed mission. Basic missions are for the low-level guild members but they only receive little rewards. Mid-tier are more complicated and can only be done by stronger guild members. Closed missions however are secret missions, they are done by the strongest guild members as they are the most dangerous."
"As for the hierarchy of guild members... Here we have seven levels. The first three levels are guild members who do basic missions while the fourth level to sixth do mid-tier missions. Seventh-level members are the ones who do closed missions. Considering that you're a wielder, you are directly in the fourth level."
"Since you're a traveler and are in the fourth level, you can do missions that last for weeks, months, or even years. These missions are usually finding clues, spying, searching for missing people, and more of that sort. If for example, you don't accept missions for a year, you will no longer be registered as a member but since you're a wielder, we can make exceptions."
The woman was smiling the entire time she was explaining and it seems that she's done this for a long time as she was professional at her job. "So, your name is Cassius Tarquin, you're a traveler, and are in the fourth level... Can I know more of your basic information? Your age for example."
"I'm twenty-two," Though the lady asked for more of his basic information, he only responded with his age.
"Um, place of birth?"
"To be honest with you, I don't know that myself."
"Alright... If it's okay, can I ask, what's your power?"
"I'd like to keep it a secret. It will be revealed sooner or later but I don't wish to say it right now."
"Isn't it to tame beasts? You didn't use a slave mark on your beast so I assumed that..."
"No, it isn't." He said with a smile.
The lady felt peculiar but since he didn't want more of his information known, she no longer asked any more questions. She took something from a cabinet on the counter and handed it to the traveler. It was a green badge with a silver tiger logo. "From now on, you are officially a guild member of the Tamers guild! Welcome!"
The traveler felt satisfied. Now he didn't need to worry about Chimera, all he needed to do was to put a guild mark on him and his problem will be solved. After everything was done, he left the guild with the knight and placed a guild mark on Chimera. It was simple to do, all he needed was to ask for it and they gave him a palm-size paper. He placed it on Chimera's fur and removed it after a couple of seconds. After the removal, a silver tiger logo could be seen on his fur. Afterward, the traveler went to a nearby park and spent his day there.
