Chapter 86 Zeref

'Zeref. Why the hell was Zeref here, there was nothing that points towards him being here right now'

Karna's mind was moving fast as he can as he contemplated what was happening here. Zeref was never supposed to come to Galuna island, as in the cannon at this moment, Zeref was not even revealed to the readers unless by the name of his demons. The only thing that came to his mind is his own existence. His magical energy is highly similar to the same signature as Mavis Vermillion and one of Zeref's plan is to get Lumen Histoire. And maybe his magic signature might have attracted him before and the sudden disappearance of it might have intrigued him and he might have come here.

Zeref was releasing his aura while walking and everybody was tense seeing someone appear immediately. Erza, Ultear and Ur saw Karna's surprised expression and knew the person they are meeting is someone they can't ignore but before they can ask anything, Natsu beat them to it

"hey who the hell are you bastard and why are you-"

"SHUT THE HELL UP NATSU AND NO ONE MAKE ANY MOVE!!" Karna immediately shouted knowing about Zeref's curse of contradiction. It may allow him to have his sane mind sometimes but most times it will be unpredictable. Along with the fact that Zeref was alive for centuries and alone, his emotions are unpredictable.

Everyone froze hearing Karna's tone. They have heard Karna's voice many times before but the first time ever they heard extreme fear in it. They immediately became tense but did not use any move. Even Natsu calmed down for the first time as Karna never stopped him from finishing what he was saying. Even when he had just arrived at the guild and was not as much calm and literate, Karna had been patient with him and listened to everything he says. Now that he stopped him, he knew the situation was bad.

"hmm, it seems you know about me I guess" Zeref a bit surprised answered "the only way you will recognise me is through her, but she died or not I guess, did the curse does not allow her to pass away completely is that your origin then? Then it makes-"

Zeref began muttering in front of them making everyone become nervous at what was happening. This made them take more precautions against the person standing in front of them. But within a few seconds Zeref had concluded everything.

"well lets for get about that now" he said and then looked at Karna "young man do you know who I am?"

"I do" Karna answered. He felt the reward of his previous mission Incursio fall into his inventory, but he knew that even if he was able to use it now which he couldn't, he would not be able to put a scratch on the person before them. The only thing he can do is talk with him truthfully and hope that he leaves here.

"really, how did you know"

"my mother told me that"

Zeref's eyes went wide and so did the other's. The guildmembers were surprised as because from what they know, Karna was raised by the guild since he was a baby and he was raised by Porlyosika, but no mother was mentioned. But Zeref at the time came to a different conclusion

'so, my calculations are correct, she still lives as a spirit. In a way at least she does not have the burden of killing others just by living' he then looked at Karna again 'then let's put the seeds for mine as well'

At the time Karna had told the truth, with his close relationship with Mavis, she had told him about her past except for Lumen Histoire. And the subject of calling her his mother is a fact that they both accepted long ago but decided to keep their relationship the same as before

"then you should know by now that I was the one who killed her, the one who led her to the path in which she ended up cursed forever not even able to live her life"

The others were getting more and more shocked by the information being said right now. Ultear and Ur were communicating with their eyes to make the next move if it goes bad. The others were also getting more and more prepared, they knew that with this information the chances of battle are high. They began to prepare for it as well. But the next few talks made them lose their composure.

"yes, but I also know that she wouldn't have died if you had not loved her. It's not your fault"

Zeref froze and then began laughing like a madman

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, what do you know, you inherited her kindness as well" then his face immediately become menacing "but make sure to become even stronger when you face me the next time, or neither you nor the people around you will survive" he looked towards Natsu "you have grown Natsu but not grown up enough, to you I will say the same. Make sure to be strong enough the next time you face me"

Zeref said and he vanished with a dark shadow covering him. Everyone let out their breaths that they were holding.

At the same time in a far away forest the same shadow appeared and Zeref got out from it.

He stumbled and then held on a tree to get balance. But tears kept flowing through his face.

'why are they all kind. It hurts more than when they hate me'

At the time back in the island an individual was watching what was happening from a tree. 'I must report what I saw just now, but who was that man in black' Azuma thought as he went away. He had no idea that the man he saw just now was the one their entire organisation was looking for while committing the most heinous of sins.
