Ch 9-Runes

The next few weeks went by fast. Everynight I would go and train with Salazar, while in the day I would attend my classes and will try to do research on magic and electricity interference. I asked help from Salazar about it but he was clueless as there was no such thing as electricity in his time, so he was of no use here, Though he pointed me to go and look at Ancient Runes for some help. I had figured it out that somehow the magic would seep into the battery and interfere with the flow of electrons there, this does give me hope that someday with science we will be able to explain magic cause it must be some sort of energy.

Salazar infered that since magic is being absorbed we can use a ruin so as to completely stop the battery from absorbing magic. Salazar said that there were ruins to increase magic absorption rate which were usually used on charmed object, and a large scale one was made by Rawena which was responsible for why there was so much magic around Hogwarts. In the same manner maybe it could be possible to make an anti absorbing rune completely opposite one, which will nullify and stop magic from interfering with the battery thus allowing the electrons to flow. Currently i didn't have much knowledge of the subject, I had to go through old books of Ancient Runes in

the library for it. Salazar had enough mastery of the subject and told me that as soon as I was done with the basics he will start teaching me.

Ancient Runes is an elective subject here at Hogwarts but it looks like i can't just drop in it mid way. I tried asking Hermoine for help but she was already too overworked, she was attending almost all of the courses, I have no idea how is she doing that though i don't care much how but why? There is actually no need for her to do so many. Well she can do whatever suits her the best.

{IN CHAMBER}

"No its not done like that, lighter pressure."

"Hey, i don't care about pressure, none of the books i read had anything about pressure, most of the runes knowledge is only theoretical." I said

"Huh! that's cause you idiots lost the correct books or someone hid them away, runes aren't just theoretical, they are magic written, there are so many things that you can do with them, I don't know which idiot removed all the books We left in Hogwarts. Its good that i didn't remove my collection from the Chamber."said Salazar.

"So I can do almost anything with Runes?" I asked.

"yes as long as they follow certain rules, Runes are different from direct casting, you can lay down a rune and use it later, unlike magic where you have to immediately cast it, some runes can even be used by muggles. Runes are so versatile i don't know why they were made an Elective subject, but considering the state you are telling me, i understand why."Salazar kept ranting more and i started to ignore him.

"SO when are you bringing your friends here? I can use some company down here."

"Not now" i said while still working on the runes," I don't trust Notts fully right now, Notts did warn me at the start of the term plus he isn't like the other pureblood but i can't judge him based on one good deed i will observe him more and Millicent pretty much approached me only after she found out that I was powerful that is exactly what i wanted to do when i showed off but I don't trust her even an ounce right now, and so i can't trust either of them with secret this big. The only

one i trust right now in Hogwarts is Hermoine and that too only cause she is a Gryffindor and i can predict what she will do, and i am sure if i told her that i found the Chamber then she will pretty much run off to a teacher. SO she is a big No NO."

"Well observe, Observation is an important skill, Collect Information cause there is no substitute of it, even someone powerful could be broken if you have the correct Information of him." Salazar advised.

"Yes, i think i am done with this one." I told him.

"Start to push some magic in it." He told me.

The Rune started to heat up and then "BAAM!"it exploded.

"The hell, i did everything right" I said.

"I told you at the beggining Pressure, different pressure of the quill at different point causes problems and sometimes blobs of ink ruin the whole rune, Helga used to complain about that alot, you need to keep it uniform. That's why runes are not everyone's cupe of tea"elaborated Salazar.

"Wait why can't i just use a ball point pen?"

"A what?" Salazar asked.

"Muggle Quills, just much better,Pip."

"Mister called."

"GO Fetch my School box."

Pip came back with my box in which i had few ball pens.I began using them for the ruins.

"Voila." I said when the newly made ruin from the ball pen didn't explode.

"Good invention by the Muggles, but why don't the wizard use it?"asked Salazar

"I don't know, maybe they are too set up in there way.Holy Shit, I just thought of this there are so many things that the Wizarding world could borrow from the Muggles but no the Wizards still live in the 18th century like savages" i said.

"Language, Kid"Salazar said.

"The earlier rune, it heated and then exploded right, is it possible make a rune that just heats? no exploding and imagine if i just stick it to my body, NO need of heavy clothes in winter. A portable Heater"

"Well That's certainly possible." Salazar said." You gotta make some changes to the exact symbols you use and figure out how to keep it stuck to your body and you are done.."

"By the way, why keep Dungeons as the dormitory? it gets cold there."I asked.

"My Snakes liked cold." Salazar said.

WIth enough ideas in my mind of converting Muggle inventions, I sat down to work on my portable heater. I could see the cash flowing my way when i am done with it andstart mass producing them.

"Is drawing permanent rune on body possible?"

"Ofcourse it is, in my time a lot of wizards did it to get some or the other advantange. Though i should tell you that you can't use normal ink on body for runes, its simply not magically conductive enough."

"So what did you use?"

"Ofcourse Blood, its the most magic conductive substance there is. Humans and Elves blood are one amongst the highest conductive, Nothings tops Unicorn blood in terms of magic conductivity, their blood can even bring back dead at a price. Though you should be careful when drawing ruins on the body cause once drawn you can't get rid of it and you can't draw every rune you see on your body, you got to make sure they are compatible otherwise they can cause havoc. In my time, rune for speed was popular, though it had become too common by the to actually cause a difference in fight. "Salazar said.

"What rune did you have?"

"Godric and I both had rune for Power, mark my advice choose the rune which you need, a thing like speed can be improved with practises but your power becomes stagnate after a certain point, rune can augement that increasing your skill above the natural limit. I will teach you how to do those later." Salazar said.
