Chapter 19: Father

Suddenly, they heard footsteps rushing towards them. A middle-aged man with a bald head and a bulging pot belly came to a stop before them.

He was wearing a deeper color shirt from the receptionist's uniform. Pinned on his right chest was a silver nametag, displaying his name and position: Robin Atlas. Manager.

Seeing several people standing before the reception table, the bald-headed manager calmed himself and greeted them first. Before he asked, "Who... who requested to reserve the Galaxy penthouse?"

The receptionist breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing her superior have arrived. She gestured towards the man in front of her and said, "It's him."

Unlike the receptionist, who ignored the young woman beside the important man, the manager noticed their entangled hands.

Even though he could see the stain-covered dress, the young woman was wearing, as someone who undergone training and hands-on experiences in serving guests, the manager could tell that the suit jacket she was wearing over her dress was from high-quality fabric and looked expensive.

His attitude changed quickly as he greeted them once again, "It is our pleasure to serve the two of you, madam and sir. Please, follow me, as I will guide you to your room."

Leaving the rude receptionist and the ridiculous middle-aged lady to gawk at them, the manager led Avery and Aidan to another elevator, which was placed on the left side of the counter.

This elevator differed from the four elevators facing each other on the right side of the reception table. The one before them only had one button instead of several buttons on different floors, and it was spacious inside.

"The penthouse is on the top floor of the building with a clear view of the night sky," the manager explained as he noticed Avery's confusion. "It is also the reason the penthouse is called Galaxy, because one could enjoy looking at the stars at a closer distance."

Avery was even more confused. The stars were certainly too far. Yet, the manager told her they could look at it closely.

Seeing that Avery did not believe him, the manager provided no more explanation. Instead, he showed them exactly what he meant by his words.

As soon as the elevator stopped and opened its doors, it revealed a huge double door.

"We're here," the manager happily announced. He turned to look at them and said, "I hope you enjoy your stay. If you have any question or request, please don't hesitate to call us."

The manager stepped back into the elevator while Avery and Aidan stood before its doors.

"Wait, I have something."

Suddenly, Aidan called out before the elevator door closed.

When the manager looked at him, Aidan said, "The receptionist and the woman earlier... I don't want to see them when I go down."

"Certainly, sir. We will do as you wish."

The manager didn't know how did the receptionist and the middle-aged lady at the reception offended such an important man, but no matter what, he must adhere to the request of the VIP card holder.

Besides, the attitude of the receptionist was certainly weird when he arrived at the lobby...

The manager bid them farewell after they alighted the elevator. He also told them that the VIP card on Aidan could open the door.

As soon as the set of doors opened, a spacious and beautiful Genkan1 awaited them. And just ahead of it was the biggest and cleanest living room that Avery had seen in her life. It was enormous, and they used properly all the corners of the living room for the sake of satisfying the guests who will stay over in that place.

And last, and the most important feature that the manager was telling about, was right above their heads.

Instead of a ceiling made from cement, glass that expanded from corners to corners of the entire place was there, showcasing the countless stars above the sky.

"It's beautiful..." Avery whispered as she held the sight before her in awe.

"But how?" she turned to Aidan. The building was indeed tall, but it wasn't tall enough to be that close that the stars looked like they were within one's reach.

Aidan glanced up. He became thoughtful, before he answered, "Schott glass. It's a glass used for telescope and optical instruments."

That explains why the sky where the stars scattered in looked closer than how it was originally.

The stars twinkled.

They enchanted Avery at the sight of their magnificence.

"Okay, stop looking up. You'll break your neck at this rate." Aidan dragged Avery to sit on the sofa.

Before she could say something in return, he turned away.

Half a minute later, he returned with a wet towel.

Under her curious eyes, Aidan said, "I've heard that pregnant women's legs get tired easily. I'm going to massage them a bit."

Avery blinked. Then blinked again.

"No, no! I'll do it myself!"

However, Aidan had already taken a grasp of her calf, placing the heel of her left foot on his knees as he kneeled before her.

His hands were clumsy at first, wiping the warm and slightly wet towel all over her feet, then focused on one foot and gently massage it.

To tell the truth, he had never touched someone's feet before. Wiping and massaging somebody's legs and feet was even more impossible.

Yet, here he was... Kneeling before someone and massaging their feet!

If someone he knew saw him like this, they would probably suffer a mini heart attack.

"Tell me if the pressure is alright." Aidan paused for a second after saying this, then he added, "Kick me if I applied too much strength."

Avery: "..."

There was no way she could kick him!

Her legs aren't even tired!

But, under his gentle massage, all her resistance crumbled into pieces.

Obviously, Aidan didn't know how to massage someone. However, the gesture was sincere, warmly attacking at her guard that she placed all over herself.

"Are you the father of the child?"
